Commentary : Belgian group Arsenal hit the top on my chart this week and although the band have been around since 1999 this is the first song from the group I've heard ... it is currently in the Belgian Top 10. Biggest mover this week is Pitbull who jumps from 16 to 5 and could follow up the number one on this chart "Give me Everything" with another in "Rain over me" featuring Marc Anthony. Two latin new entries this week with the Billboard number one from Aventura lead singer Romeo Santos in at 17 and Ilegales following up their Top 20 track on this chart from a few months back "Me haces dano" with their latest "Haciendome el loco". At 18 Bruno Mars enters with yet another track from "Doo Wop and Hooligans" in "Talking to the Moon" currently the number 3 track in Brazil. He has hit number 1 in my chart with "Grenade", "Just the way you are" and "Liquor Street Blues", number 2 with "Lazy Song", number 12 with "Marry you" and as a featured artist he hit number 1 with "Nothin on you" and number 10 with "Billionaire". He also wrote the song currently standing at number 6 being "Before it Explodes" by Charice.

Hopefully it can do one more week of top 20! Or another mainstream song starts popping in your top 20

13 to 19... no it's got to go next week !

but I would say that most of the songs are mainstream in that they're charting around the world which is why I listen to them in the first place. Christina Perri, Chris Medina, Hot Chelle Rae, Jason De Rulo, Pitbull ft Marc Anthony are all or have been US hits and most US hits, other than country, become international hits to some degree. Ella Rose, Amna and Play and Win are part of the Romanian dance movement poular in many countries. Prince Royce, Romeo Santos and Juan Luis Guerra are huge in the latin market. A Friend in London and Raphael Gualazzi did well in Eurovision. Eric Amarillo is number 1 in Sweden and charting in the other Nordic countries. Chris Parker was number one in Russia. Bruno Mars is a major star all round the world.

I need to rephrase my description properly, I meant generic pop songs with generic beats (excluding that Jason Derulo song which I dislike :P )

Isn't a generic pop song one that sounds like a mish mash of other songs with familiar beats. I totally get that in the case of Jason DeRulo's "Dont wanna go home" - it is a bit of the Banana Boat Song and Show me Love with the other parts of the song sounding like a 100 other recent songs. In my chart I've had lots of Romanian dance tracks and I think many of them have been highly influenced by other Romanian dance tracks. I also like bachata but the rythm is often similar from one song to the next. You like Asian pop but isn't so much of that generic as well following some kind of formula to sell in the Japanese market for example ?
