August 11, 201113 yr Leona needs to be more pro-active and not let herself be a puppet controlled by Cowell which she basically is at the moment. How is she a puppet? There's no evidence suggesting that she is "a puppet controlled by Cowell".
August 11, 201113 yr There is no evidence denying that fact. So why not. If she doesn't get involved in such basic stuff as checking the credibility of everything her management tells her then she will always get manipulated by record labels. She is basically only a VOICE and PRETTY FACE right now. I'm not blaming her for what's happened regarding Collide (after all she's young and everything; I'd have been in the same position too if I were in her shoes) but unconditionally believing everything your management says to you isn't an option really.

Beyonce and Coldplay have both been heavily accused of plagiarism. Are they puppets?
August 11, 201113 yr OMG... ya think if it was Leona's responsibility to check up on her management and label she'd even have time to record anything? I'm sure Leona is a big enough artist (and business) for there to be far too much going on to take all responsibility... she's a singer / songwriter / performer... not a lawyer, manager, accountant, producer etc :-)

August 11, 201113 yr Heard it for the first time on radio today (Capital) while I was driving, turned it right up, sounds so good at top volume!
August 14, 201113 yr I actually really like the song, but I think the Afrojack Remix makes it 100x better! It's one of the best remixes I've heard in a LONG time :D
August 15, 201113 yr Court case tomorrow. Fingers crossed Leona wins and 'Collide' is allowed to be released. I think the video has been delayed because of the court case, unfortunately. The melody, vocals and the vast majority of the music aren't even close to FID. It's just the piano riff. Edited August 15, 201113 yr by SceneofSIXCrimes
August 15, 201113 yr Why don't they just change the piano riff? Valid point actually, surely they could just make alterations by taking out the piano riff and then release it? Because (as SOSC said) it's only the piano riff that's similar. It's hardly a carbon copy, so if they took the piano riff out I can't see how Avicii would have qualms because then you have two totally different tracks.
August 16, 201113 yr Why don't they just change the piano riff? Although that's a good point, it would be strange if the average radio listener heard 'Collide' one day and realised how the piano music in the background is completely different to how it was a few weeks ago.
August 16, 201113 yr Syco could just market it as a different remix, and then the current one would then be [Avicii Remix] or something?
August 16, 201113 yr It's settled out of court. Details will be given in a press release later today.
August 16, 201113 yr Ooh I'm nervous! I hope it still gets released, then maybe if it definitely gets released, airplay will kick in.

August 16, 201113 yr "So happy to move on with Leona and focus on having a hit together." We've finally come to an agreement with Leona on all the issues. So happy to move on and focus on hit making! Glad to FINALLY have resolved situation with Leona. Music is the answer! http://twitter.com/#!/Avicii
August 16, 201113 yr A hit together? So will it be released with both of them credited/some sort of sharing of royalties? Seems likely from what's been said there.
August 16, 201113 yr It seems so. I'm glad it's resolved and it'll still be released, but I hope we do get some information on what actually happened.
