Posted July 12, 201114 yr Take That New Single To Be 'The Three Musketeers' Theme song Take That and Constantin Film/Impact Pictures jointly announced today that the new single from the group, When We Were Young (taken from their No.1 album Progressed) will be the theme song of the upcoming feature film adaptation The Three Musketeers, Constantin Film/Impact Pictures’ highly anticipated 3D action-adventure that rolls into theatres this fall. Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Robbie Williams were inspired to write the ballad after a private screening of the film in Los Angeles with the film’s director Paul W.S. Anderson, when asked about the new single Gary said: “The film is visually so rich and beautiful that our main challenge was to then match it musically. We’ve returned to guitars, real pianos and a conventional song structure to achieve this. We also thought that the Musketeers reminded us of ourselves.” The release of When We Were Young, set to be the last single taken from the band’s Progress studio sessions, in conjunction with the hotly anticipated film, comes at a busy time for the super group, who are currently in the middle of their record breaking Progress Live Tour, which finishes at the end of July. The tour that will see them play to over 1.6 million people and will see them play eight nights at Wembley Stadium breaking Michael Jackson’s previous record for the Bad Tour in 1988. As well as the tour the boys also announced the release of a double disc album entitled Progressed which came out on June 13th through Polydor Records and went straight to the top of the UK album chart. The new tracks were released as a package alongside the band’s record-breaking album Progress which is on a separate disc of this two CD set. Take That’s Progress Live 2011 tour became the biggest tour in UK and Irish history when a record breaking 1.34 million tickets were snapped up in less than 24 hours of going on sale. The band smashed their previous box office record set in 2008 with The Circus Live Tour, more than doubling their own record for sales in a single day. 850,000 tickets went on sale at 9am on October 29, 2010 and throughout the day the band added a further 11 dates to cope with demand. For those that didn’t manage to get a ticket, or if you did and want to relive the magic again, the band are releasing a DVD of one of the Wembley shows later this year. Between them, Take That and Robbie Williams have sold over 80 million albums, had 14 number one albums, 18 number one singles, played to over 14.5 million people live, won 20 BRIT Awards, eight MTV awards and five Ivor Novello awards; and the list goes on. Their critically acclaimed 2010 album, Progress, has now sold in excess of two million copies. The new single, When We Were Young goes to radio on Monday July 11th and is available digitally now through Polydor Records. The Three Musketeers film boasts an impressive international cast ensemble starring: Logan Lerman, Milla Jovovich, Matthew Macfadyen, Ray Stevenson, Luke Evans, Mads Mikkelsen, Gabriella Wilde, James Corden, Juno Temple, Freddie Fox with Orlando Bloom and Christoph Waltz. Based on the famous novel by Alexandre Dumas, the film was written by Alex Litvak and Andrew Davies, and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. Anderson also produced with his Impact Pictures producing partner Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer of Constantin Film. Martin Moszkowicz, Constantin Film’s Head of Film & TV, served as the film’s executive producer. Source...entertainmentfocus.com

July 13, 201114 yr That song is  ..I ain't bought it  I just think WWWY is a very, very weak song (although I agree after Love, Love - its probably the best). I wish they'd have not released another single if I'm honest. Kath

Kath Makes no sense really, it's not as if their last single releases have been bouncing off the charts success wise & we rarely hear them on the radio.... The only song from Progress that I hear on a regular basis is The Flood

Happy Now (which is fast becoming my favourite track) and Love, Love tend to get played a hell of a lot on Wish, Smooth and Real though. Kath

July 14, 201114 yr       Nuff said. I think this is the response I was searching for. It truly is a dreadful song. If this charts higher than 20 its a crime against music. Kath
July 14, 201114 yr That was the most generous response I could muster. Please tell me Robbie's new solo album isn't going to be full of this kind of stuff. I may cry. :(
July 14, 201114 yr Well, they all adore the song and video on the Official TT Site. It's so good and emotional many of them are in tears watching it. Maybe it will do well in the charts after all. I think I'm not myself tonight. I seem to hate everything I see

Maybe it will do well in the charts after all. I think I'm not myself tonight. I seem to hate everything I see  Don't lose faith in your judgement or yourself Jupiter. The song, whilst not quite 'hate-worthy', is a pile of poo! As is Progressed itself - despite some of the fans on the official site calling it 'breathtaking' - the only way its breathtaking for me is that I want to top myself the more I hear it! WTF has happened to Take That and Rob? If his new album is made up of similar stuff to WWWY - then I think he's f*cked as far as a hit album is concerned (having said that - every single Gary Barlow fan will add to his sales by buying one ... or two!) I forgot my password for the official site about a month ago and had requested a 're-set' - but I've not been sent anything. I only want to go onto the site to ask 'ARE YOU ALL FREAKIN' DEAF OR SOMETHING? WWWY IS SH/TE!' Perhaps the mods over there sense my intentions! Kath Edited July 15, 201114 yr by Kathyp

I've listened to it about five times now - willing myself to like it - but I just can't. The odd thing is - I like the video - its a shame the song is undeserving of it. Its bland, bland, bland. I really hope this charts lower than Kidz and Love, Love - it would be a shame if load of old tosh charted higher than these two far superior songs. Kath

July 16, 201114 yr It's qay better than Shame though Kath as is the video which I love ...it's a grower for sure...give it a few moew listens & see what you think ;) Musically it isn't even as good as Shame - although I detest the lyrics to Shame - it does have a catchy tune. WWWY has absolutely nothing. Do you know what it sounds like? When you go to church and pick up a hymn book and everyone starts singing a hymn that you've never heard of before - but you can mouth the words - because those that you've not heard of all seem to sound the same. Maybe this is where Rob & Gary's strength lies - they should write hymns. The lyrics to WWWY are also every bit as bad as Shame. Another thing - I don't believe all that crap that Barlow says about them all 'writing it with the film in mind'. Total bollocks - its a song in a box of songs that they've got that they tout around hoping to tag on the end of films. Kath

Kath  BTW..Have you heard...the Danish gig is cancelled tonight..Robbie has food poisining  I bet there will be no offer of a free gig , not with Gary around anyway :P
July 16, 201114 yr  BTW..Have you heard...the Danish gig is cancelled tonight..Robbie has food poisining  I bet there will be no offer of a free gig , not with Gary around anyway :P I feel real sorry for people who've travelled a long way for it (I know from looking on the official site that someone has travelled from Northern Sweden!) I think this is the first time they've ever cancelled a gig. I know they did a few European (BW) ones without Howard when he punctured his lung but didn't have to cancel. I suppose its different this time because of Rob's solo spot. I do know that most people have said they'd rather see any gig at all - rather than miss out altogether. Denmark has always been supportive of TT both as a four and a five. I'm thinking probably some of the band have come down with the food poisoning too. You're right - can't see Gary offering a free gig though (maybe Rob will do a solo free gig in Copenhagen sometime soon to make up for it.) Kath Edited July 16, 201114 yr by Kathyp
