The shortlist came out today, and Nicola becomes the first solo-Aloud to earn herself a nomination with the glorious 'Beat of My Drum'. I'd say she has a fair chance at winning, due to how much Mr. Popjustice loves Girls Aloud, and Nicola's solo project, but the people of Popjustice forums are the sort who would hate the song - so we'll just have to wait and see. The winner is announced on September 6.

» Adele – ‘Rolling In The Deep’

» Hurts – ‘Stay’

» Jessie J – ‘Do It Like A Dude’

» Joe McElderry – ‘Ambitions’

» Mark Ronson & The Business Intl feat Boy George etc – ‘Somebody To Love Me’

» Nadia Oh – ‘Taking Over The Dancefloor’

» Nicola Roberts – ‘Beat Of My Drum’

» The Saturdays – ‘Higher’

» Sunday Girl – ‘Stop Hey’

» Take That – ‘The Flood’

» The Wanted – ‘All Time Low’

» Yasmin – ‘Finish Line’

She's won it already if you ask me, I'll be very surprised if she looses anyway, PopJustice bloody love the song.

A much better set of nominations than last year from PopJustice, Jessie J is the only one whom I disapprove of, though it seems to be a lot more Top 40 based than usual. The Wanted being there is a surprise, as are Take That aswell I suppose. Disappointed at no Florrie. Disappointed at no CocknBullKid. Sunday Girl getting a nod is nice though.

It wouldn't suprise me if Nicola won it - Popjustice seem to adore Girls Aloud, so they probably will with solo work!

To win

People seem to be operating under the assumption that Peter Robinson himself decides who wins. Not so. Nicola is probably the favourite but she's by no means got it in the bag...

Can't you just let us be loons in here and assume she is going to win please?

I thought everyone could assume whatever they want without Tyron's permission.

And your assuming is necessarily right, following this logic?
Erm, if you'd care to read my posts you'd see I'm not actually making any assumptions. It isn't an assumption on my part to correct Jimmie given Peter Robinson DOESN'T decide personally. 'She isn't guaranteed to win but probably the favourite' isn't really an assumption either, so I'm not quite sure what you're getting at.

Just as a matter of interest why do you think this? Nicola has so many crazy fans on there it's unreal.

Because they're pure-pop lovers who are more likely to prefer Nicola w/Xenomania than her with her faux indie/alternative producers.
Well there was nothing but praise for Beat of My Drum when it premiered! Her thread has like 500 pages.
