Glad Madonna isn't any higher, I just think that the majority of her music is mediocre. Kylie I really love but glad she isn't in the Top 5.

Really hope GaGa doesn't win for a 2nd year in a row!

I like how you say Madonna "bombarded the charts constantly from '84-'95" as though her '98 album wasn't much, much more successful than the two which came before it! :D I'm being pedantic though. I reckon Madonna has been tainted by the last album and the GH but you absolutely CANNOT argue with her ridiculously amazing back catalogue. There's SO MUCH to choose from, it's SO varied, she used to be one HELL of a songwriter. What a woman.

Kylie is a tad overrated - I do really like her but she shouldn't have been top 10 and I'm glad she stalled at 10. Madonna however... Truly a superstar, an amazing back catalogue and she should've been top 5!

I meant with regards to consecutive top 10 singles.

Come on, Madonna isn't anything without the right producer. Her back catalogue is pretty rubbish when you take Mirwais and William Orbit away.

I can't believe Madonna was actually outside the top 10 last time really. I remain ever worried as to what will be unleashed with her next album though, honest to God if she lets Guetta anywhere near it.... Looking back 'Hard Candy' was awful, as was the Greatest Hits mostly, but she remains amazing on the whole.

Kylie's in a sort of similar situation in which she's no longer the force of nature she was once was. 'Aphrodite' was still a good album though.

She is apparantly only using unknown producers for the next album, so no Guetta :D

I don't know where you read that Regina but basically the only thing we know about the next album is that she collaborated with Martin Solveig so...

They only really contributed on three albums and one of those (Music) wasn't all that anyway! Given that Like A Virgin, Confessions On A Dancefloor and the majority of The Immaculate Collection are amongst her best work and had no input whatsoever from those producers I think that's a bit ill-founded really.

Madonna has been the blueprint for every major female singer/artist/entertainer of the past 20 years. You don't reach that sort of status just by having a good producer or two.

Prob the stupidest thing ive ever read on Buzzjack. The only big producers she has ever used are William Orbit and Stuart Price, who she used before any other major artist.

I'd be happy with a Rihanna, Kylie or Madonna win. Honestly I think Gaga still has a lot to prove and it's too premature to be calling her the best at what she does.

I'm sorry, Rihanna? Her material is strong but there is something missing. Out of what you have listed, Gaga is so much better equipped.

This list is already defunct, IMO. Even if Britney is my favorite artist, but this is BJ.

Good job Graham Cracker, this is awesome and I have enjoyed it nonetheless! :D

What forum members say about Madonna on this forum makes my blood boil, i have to rememeber they are probabaly young and basically have very little knowledge of what they are talking about!!!

Even if i wasnt a Madonna fan i would except that she is the queen of pop! ITS A FACT!!!!

I am not going to get into long arguments on here but to be honest only one woman has the credentials to win this poll!!

Madonna crowned ARTE Queen of Pop

French/German TV channel ARTE broadcast live from Hamburg last night (Saturday 30 July) to announce the results of fans online voting to name the Queen of Pop, 70,000 votes were counted and (of course) Madonna was crowned Queen of Pop.

Here are the full breakdown of results:

1 - Madonna 24.2%

2 - Britney Spears 20.9%

3 - Lady Gaga 15.9%

4 - Aretha Franklin 9.7%

5 - Kate Bush 7.7%

6 - Beyoncé 5.5%

7 - Mariah Carey 4.5%

8 - Debbie Harry 4.4%

9 - Diana Ross 4.3%

10 - Donna Summer 2.9%

I never thought I would find the material of a reality TV show winner so fantastic. Clarkson rose to fame on the first season of American Idol back in 2002. Her debut album 'Thankful' is very cringe-worthy and showcases a variety of different genres and vocal styles. Almost as if they were unsure which direction to take her in (kudos to 'Beautiful Disaster' though). However, then came the unstoppable 'Breakaway' era which spawned the singles 'Since You Been Gone', 'Behind These Hazel Eyes' and 'Because of You' amongst others. A lot of people find the album samey but there's not a bad track on there imo. It's definately the strongest of Clarkson's albums from a musical perspective, though lyrically she is immaculate on the 2007 follow up 'My December', which is home to the likes of 'Judas' and 'Sober' (the latter is my personal favourite Clarkson song). Sadly, 'My December' underperformed on a global scale so the next record regained some of the friendly, upbeat pop-rock that had shot her to worldwide acclaim half a decade previously. I was disappointed with 'All I Ever Wanted'. It was a solid album but I struggled to find any sort of progression. It was a step back from 'My December', in an attempt to try and recreate a the success of 'Breakaway'.

Clarkson's 5th album is due at some point in the future and the heaps of demos that have leaked all over the web have been very promising, yet showcase the same issues I had with the last record. I don't think that's a bad thing but the tastes of the public are shifting and the record company need to stop focusing on past glories and ultilise the fantastic abilities that Clarkson has to offer.

I think a lot of you forget that it's the favourite female artists of the SITE, not of the whole wide world and consisting of every year of music and every impact every woman has ever made on the charts or on the culture of music. Yes it's annoying and slightly perplexing that some people do find the likes of Pixie Lott et al to be the best female singer in their little spheres of existence, but the outcome of this poll isn't going to change to face of humanity. So stop ruining my commentary

From her managers twitter :D :

"most of the music madonna is liking for new album are from all unknown producers. from what she played me, the tracks sound amazing"

Kelly  Was hoping for her to be 2nd behind Gaga! Yay for Sober though, it's one of her top 3 songs!
