August 3, 201113 yr Gaga 6th! I really didn't expect that. I'm liking it, but I didn't expect that. 6th is fair for her, she's made some amazing songs, but I feel she's maybe a tad overrated.Β Rihanna for the win now. (Or Beyonce or P!nk would be fine as well, but I can't see P!nk doing it)Β Β
August 3, 201113 yr Imo it should be: 1. Rihanna 2. Beyonce 3. Katy 4. Britney 5. PinkΒ And I think it will be: 1. Rihanna 2. Britney 3. Beyonce 4. Pink 5. Katy
August 3, 201113 yr Pink has been making music for 10+ years too. Her first single came out in 2000Β I always forget P!nk came out in 2000. I'm so glad she changed her sound. Best decision ever.Β My point about Britney is she is heavily relevant to this, and this sorta ties in with the iconic argument you were having. NO ONE was doing poppy music when "Toxic" came out, "Toxic" is still fresh to date. Honestly, so is "In The Zone" (but unless your a fan, doubtful you'd check that one out). "...Baby One More Time" has an iconic video and look. She pretty much owned the VMA for years - I mean it's referred to as the Britney / Madonna kiss, not Madonna / Britney, Madonna / Christina etc. Β Honestly, in a way, I feel Britney is severely underrated. I don't think people really acknowledge how great she is/was.
August 3, 201113 yr In The Zone is easily one of the greatest albums of the last decade. It bugs me that everybody gives that accolade to Blackout. ITZ is so much more mature sonically, genuinely sexy without being tacky.
August 3, 201113 yr Although I'm a bit late, I think Lady Ga Ga has dropped because her music simply hasn't been as good this era. And there is only so far you can go with with random outfits before it becomes repetitive. I still like some of her music, but I'm bored now with her image now. And many people I know feel the same.
August 3, 201113 yr I totally agree with In The Zone being better than Blackout (and Circus). I actually think Femme Fatale is my favourite album by her, though I'd say In The Zone is sonically better, if that makes sense
August 3, 201113 yr I've always preferred "In The Zone" to "Blackout", not slating the latter.Β And whoever compared "Circus", good lord. That album is almost in league with "Oops", maybe? :kink:Β Β
August 3, 201113 yr "Britney" is actually my fav Britey album. Up there with "Blackout". "Femme Fatale" is easily my least liked album.
August 3, 201113 yr All Britney is, is simply a blank canvas for other people to work their magic and nothing more. She gets good, solid and catchy pop songs given to her by big name producers but that means nothing really.Β I don't want her or Beyonce winning.

August 3, 201113 yr To settle the Britney argument, the fact that she is the only person in the Top 5 who has been making music for 10+ years shows how relevant and important to the music industry, and Beyonce fans, don't pretend you knew ANYTHING from Destiny's Child until "Bills Bills Bills" and that was a group anyway.Β What a completely dumb argument.Β Pink and Beyonce have both been making music for over 10 years too. Beyonce has been making music the longest (judging by release dates) and even if most people didn't know about DC's music before BBB, how does that make Beyonce less worthy of winning or, more to the point, how does it make your claim true? I'm sure loads of people have heard of DC and their songs before BBB anyway, only because you haven't it doesn't mean no one else has. And so what if they were a group? Beyonce was still in it.

August 3, 201113 yr 'Tell Me', from their debut album, is one of my favourite songs by them and that's around 15 years old.Β Razod2Glzms

Beyonce was still in it.Β I will openly admit I didn't follow her until "Bills Bills Bills" like the majority of her current audience. And whoever said they heard "No No No" in clubs, I've never heard it in one club ever. In relation to this Female Smackdown, I'm sure the majority of people giving her votes are judging her solo music rather than her band's music, and she doesn't have THAT much solo music in comparison to P!nk or Britney, this can be seen for the sheer fact there isn't a big cry out for a DC reunion. Β I wasn't stating that Beyonce shouldn't win, I'd be happy if she did, she's a great artist with some great album tracks and singles. I'm still waiting for her to make her definitive album a la "In The Zone" or "Erotica", but that's just me.

I'm still waiting for her to make her definitive album a la "In The Zone" or "Erotica", but that's just me.Β This isn't Ultimate Female Artist or Best Female Artist Ever where everything has to be taken into account. Surely the fact that this is an annual competition suggests that we should be basing it on the current music from each female artist (hence why Adele has shot up this year and the likes of Cheryl Cole fell). In my opinion, Britney doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the top 10 based on her recent music. Maybe if this was 2003-2005, but I think all of the remaining top 5 have trumped her in terms of music quality within the last year. But that is just my opinion. I can see the appeal of Britney though. I'm not going to be closed-minded. She was a great popstar back in the day imo and I'm glad she's personally recovered from the mess she was in throughout 2007 but I don't think her music ever properly recovered. Well, other than 'Womanizer', it didn't. Β I also wouldn't call In The Zone definitive. Yes the likes of 'Everytime', 'Showdown', 'Brave New Girl' and 'Me Against The Music' (and I guess 'Toxic') were great pop songs but I wouldn't call the album definitive. I guess Beyonce hasn't had a real career-defining album yet either. But I'd say I Am...Sasha Fierce and even 4 are nearer "definitive" than any of Britney's albums...and this isn't me being a blind Beyonce fan. Edited August 3, 201113 yr by SceneofSIXCrimes
August 3, 201113 yr She's only signifigantly behind Britney in terms of solo studio albums, Britney (7), Rihanna (5), P!nk (5), Beyonce (4) & Katy Perry (2), - I think Madonna & Kylie had the most in the top ten with 11 each, don't know who has the most in the top 100, could be Barbra Streisand with 33, all this being said I am a fan of the top five, even if I do think Katy is a bit too high.Β MY PREFERRED ORDERΒ 1. Beyonce 2. Pink 3. Rihanna 4. Britney 5. Katy
August 4, 201113 yr I hope:Β 1. Beyonce 2. Rihanna 3. Katy 4. Pink 5. BritneyΒ I think:Β 1. Pink 2. Britney 3. Rihanna 4. Beyonce 5. Katy
August 4, 201113 yr Also, I maybe being thick, but I've never thought to question it before but how do define a "definative album"?
