November 2, 201113 yr "Stop the Clocks" and "AKA... What A Life!" are great. I hope the rest of the album is on the same level.
November 3, 201113 yr High Flying Birds are on Radio 2's In Concert next Thursday (3 Nov) This is also being shown on the red button from 9.00. I assume it will be available for a few days afterwards as well. Last week's (excellent) Elbow gig was available from Friday until yesterday.
November 30, 201113 yr Author "If I Had A Gun" confirmed as the third UK single, out 26th of December. Best choice really, and it already has a video. Would love "Record Machine" next but I think it's almost inevitably going to be either "Everybody's On The Run" or "Stop the Clocks".
February 14, 201213 yr Author "If I Had A Gun" confirmed as the third UK single, out 26th of December. Best choice really, and it already has a video. Would love "Record Machine" next but I think it's almost inevitably going to be either "Everybody's On The Run" or "Stop the Clocks". Well I was completely wrong, 4th single is "Dream On". Saw them last night supported by Reverend & the Makers who were decent enough. Was predictably great, was also predictable that there'd be a few w*n**rs near the front at any gig he did in Manchester. When he did "Talk Tonight" and "Half The World Away" they were scaled up to great big band things which worked well, by contrast he did "Supersonic" almost solo with just a keyboard backing. Played nine of High Flying Birds' ten tracks, all in album order strewn throughout the set, with only "Stop the Clocks" missing out. Full setlist: (It's Good) To Be Free Mucky Fingers Everybody's On The Run Dream On If I Had A Gun... The Good Rebel The Death of You and Me Freaky Teeth Whatever Supersonic (I Wanna Live In A Dream In My) Record Machine AKA... What a Life! Talk Tonight Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks AKA... Broken Arrow Half The World Away (Stranded On) The Wrong Beach Little by Little The Importance of Being Idle Don't Look Back In Anger Before "AKA... What a Life!": "I want to dedicate this song to the single greatest human being alive today - Mario Balotelli" and before "Talk Tonight": "This one is for you, young gentleman. Not lyrically, that'd be weird"
