September 13, 201113 yr I shall be watching I've seen the trailers for it, I think its in place of Medium on Fridays 9pm on UK Living next week, as Medium finishes this week.
September 14, 201113 yr Just watched the pilot and I've got mixed feelings. On the one hand it's a pretty gripping story. I can easily look past the contrivances (Siobhan didn't tell anybody Bridget existed - how convenient!) and enjoy the fact that it's a thriller that keeps you guessing (for now). SMG is pretty good in the lead role(s) although a bit more distinction between Bridget and Siobhan would have been nice. All of the supporting cast are very adept and I'm particularly glad Kristoffer Polaha from Life Unexpected is getting more work. His character was probably the best of the men. Minus points, the production values were obviously quite low, it all looked a bit low budget. They packed so much into the pilot that there was hardly room to breathe, one minute Siobhan is missing in the water, the next Bridget has become Siobhan (although the flashback they did in the next scene sort of showed her transformation). The dialogue and script was very basic throughout and there were so many clichés in there, especially with the rebel daughter which I actually rolled my eyes at (she did drugz! She got kicked out of school!). And my other criticism is that even though they're supposed to be a filthy rich family living in the Hamptons there wasn't really an air of wealth or high society lifestyle. I suspect Revenge on ABC will be much better for that stuff. Anyway it was perfectly solid and I'll be sticking with it.
September 14, 201113 yr Just watched the pilot. I thought it was brilliant. I was hooked instantly, Sarah Michelle Gellar is a brilliant actress and I think there is lots of potential in this. Can't wait for episode 2 already. I tend to love every show on The CW.
September 14, 201113 yr This is marked as a US Pace thread, so the following post will contain episode 1 spoilers (and spoiler tags look ugly, so I try to avoid them): I had hyped this up so much in my head, watched some of the previews so many times, by far my most anticipated show of the 2011/12 season. I wasn't disappointed either, but it took a while to properly get going (although I guess it's the same for any pilot). I agree with Jark, at times I was unsure which sister was which, but think I had it figured out by the end. I already knew the twist about Siobhan actually being alive so I knew that was coming at the end, but didn't know about the pregnancy so that's quite interesting. Already looking forward to next week :D p.s. Do we know who the man in the mask was, at the end? I didn't really get a proper look at him.
September 14, 201113 yr The man in the mask was somebody previously unseen who was presumably sent to kill Siobhan. I did wonder if Gemma had set it up as a trap which would suggest she knows about Siobhan's affair with Henry... Oh and the ratings are in. 1.2 in adults 18-49, 2.7 million total viewers. Not bad at all but it could do with maintaining that or even building on it.
September 14, 201113 yr 1.2 isn't bad for The CW, but I was certainly expecting better. I won't go on about how it only equalled the Hellcats premiere last year & got lower than Nikita because both of those had a much stronger lead-in, but shows tend to drop off a bit after the premiere and we don't really want that happening here. Did gain a few more viewers at the half-hour mark though, and that can't be a bad thing. I shall be watching I've seen the trailers for it, I think its in place of Medium on Fridays 9pm on UK Living next week, as Medium finishes this week. It's now been confirmed for Thursday 29th September, 8pm. The slot you're thinking of is Ladyboys next week, and then taken over by Criminal Minds the week after.
September 14, 201113 yr I wasn't too keen on it. It was like a grown up The Lying Game (which I much prefer). I will definitely give it another shot though. So many familiar faces in this show. Edited September 14, 201113 yr by Neil
September 14, 201113 yr I think competing against the live America's Got Talent may have hindered it, yet it'll have even tougher competition when all the other networks kick off their Fall lineup. I was disappointed in the figures. I guess I overlooked SMG's appeal and the fact that it does air on The CW after all. Still, the episode itself was fantastic. Perfect cast, brilliant story, the dialogue was a little weak in parts and I actually felt the fast pace was quite good, considering so many shows take a few episodes to establish a premise, I think the plot will slow down a bit from this point. SMG was fantastic as always, though I still see her as Buffy. She even cries the same  I am really excited as to where it will go in coming weeks. Still say it would've worked better with Nikita, but then 90210 and Supernatural is hardly an amazing combination either.
September 15, 201113 yr I can't get my head around this originally being intended for CBS. The entire pilot looked incredibly cheap and had that CW budget no-gloss look. The acting was dreadful too (especially SMG). It was interesting enough to warrant another episode but it was all rather underwhelming.
September 15, 201113 yr Apparently the production values are much higher in the second episode. I certainly hope so.
September 15, 201113 yr I didn't mind the productions values too much but the green-screen boat scene was too noticeable. My only nit-pick right now. I think I certainly over-estimated SMG's current appeal when it came to ratings. I don't think it being The CW is as big a factor as it sometimes seems, they managed to get a 2.1 for TVD series premiere somehow. I agree that this would go better paired with Nikita, and although that leaves Supernatural with 90210, Supernatural has it's audience and is one of the best rated shows on the network, so I don't think it would matter if they aren't totally compatible.
September 15, 201113 yr ^ Lol at the green screen on the boat. It was AWFUL. My friend actually txted me about it as he was watching it, lol. I never knew this was intended for CBS... it seems like the perfect CW show. This just wouldn't work on CBS whatsoever. I personally didn't think the acting was bad. It's going to be hard for me to see Sarah Michelle Gellar as anything other than Buffy. At several points I kept thinking to myself "Buffy looks really old around the eyes now".
September 22, 201113 yr After watching the second episode, there is definitely some potential to this being quite good. But I think it's in danger of the writers throwing so much into the mix that it could get a bit out of hand and slightly over the top.
September 22, 201113 yr Just watched this and luckily I didn't know anything about it so my mouth was wide open at the ending! I don't watch any American TV series other than True Blood so maybe it's because I don't have much compare it to but I thought it was really good. Especially the editing of the pilot of the two of them together, felt like I did watching Parent Trap when I was convinced there were two Lindsay's. I don't understand what a 'sponsor' is though?
September 22, 201113 yr I love this show. The first 10 minutes of the first episode had me hooked! I don't know how their planning on doing multiple series' though.
September 22, 201113 yr I don't understand what a 'sponsor' is though? Like a mentor at an AA/NA meeting who's been there longer than you and supports you through sobriety.
September 22, 201113 yr I agree with Joao that with all the twists perhaps there will be too much in the mix but I'm hooked and eager to find out what happened to the man who was meant to be in the box. Really enjoyed the emotional part, 'Siobhan' with Juliet, and the tiny bit we saw of Siobhan in Paris (though I hope we see more of her than one tiny glimpse per episode). I don't know how their planning on doing multiple series' though. I don't know either but I think SMG has said that the writers already have plans for three seasons?
September 22, 201113 yr The second episode was worse than the first. Dreadful. I don't see this lasting. Edited September 22, 201113 yr by ▲▲▲
September 22, 201113 yr It's really trying to be like a Hitchcock film, and frankly it's failing...... -_-
September 29, 201113 yr Just seen the pilot, hmmm... the dodgy speedboat thingy was a bit hilarious, on the whole I found it a bit slow, as the episode ended it had me hooked, I like to see where its heading so I'm going to give it a go.
