I don't recall us having a topic like this last season, but if you've not done this before then basically the idea is that you predict where each of the 20 teams will finish in the league, and then at the end of the season we will bump up the topic, and see who had the best and worst predictions!

These are the twenty clubs in the Premier League next season:

Arsenal

Aston Villa

Blackburn

Bolton

Chelsea

Everton

Fulham

Liverpool

Man City

Man Utd

Newcastle

Norwich

QPR

Stoke

Sunderland

Swansea

Tottenham

West Brom

Wigan

Wolves

A few other little predictions to make as well if you want:

Top three goalscorers (in any order):

First manager to resign/sacked:

Will any club manage to break the Top 6?

I shall do something more in depth nearer to the start of the season.

In the Championship I hate to be predictable but it's hard to see anyone other than West Ham or Leicester being in the top 2. I think Cardiff and Ipswich will be in the play-offs, after that it's any two of about 14 teams. The only teams I can't see challenging for a play-off place are Barnsley, Peterborough, Doncaster and Watford. Although I certainly don't think relegation will be three of those four. I certainly can't see the latter two going down.

Will do my predictions either tonight, or at a later date. I think a lot of the key signings have been made already. Obviously once Tevez or Modric leaves then the floodgates could open, but currently at this moment in time both deals seem to have stalled.

We did have one last year, Craig was 100% sure of Man City winning the league LOL.

They'll never win the league with the manager they've got in charge at the moment.

I'm going to predict Chelsea will win the league this year. I thin they're a creative midfielder (and a temporary defensive midfielder) away from being such a good team. I think Torres will be better this season (although nowhere near the standard of his first two years in England). They're a well balanced team and even though they completely faulted for a few months last season, look how close they were to winning the league! If they sign Modric they'll be very dangerous.

Whilst Man Utd have bought some good players, I don't think they're as good as last season. Jones is an excellent buy, but one for the future. He won't walk in to the team. The signing of Young still besumes me a little, as Nani is a far better player than he is. And while De Gea is a good keeper, would any Man Utd fan really prefer him in the team ahead of Van Der Saar? There's still a couple of of weeks for them to sign a central midfielder or two, but I'm extemely surprised they left it this late already to even sign at least one! Having said that, having a fully fit Valencia for the full season should benefit them as he's a great player.

Manchester City are a funny one to predict. If they sign Nasri and Sneidjer then there'll have a great team, easily the best on paper. Can't help but think they're signing too many big egos though who will want to play every week, week in week out. If they lose Tevez (despite signing Aguero) then they're going to be significantly weaker. They'll be closer to the title than they were last season but I'd be very surprised that if come May they were the winners. Liverpool have made some very good signings to already add to Suarez and Carroll, but at the moment I'm still a little bit worried. We've not signed a left-back yet (although I'm sure it will happen) and we need another central defender. We're much stronger than last season though. I fully expect us to challenge for fourth.

Arsenal have still not sorted their problem area of a keeper. And their defence still looks very vulnerable. Spurs have only signed a player on a free transfer. I think they're skint. If they sell Modric, then they'll be able to get a replacement, but I don't think they'll be top 4 this season.

I expect Fulham and Sunderland to challenge for 7th place. Sunderland fans obviously want to be challenging for Europe, but at the moment I don't think any team can break in to the Top 6 right at this moment.

Down at the bottom Blackburn are going to struggle (again). Their club is a laughing stock now (see the new Venkys advert) and they're far weaker than they were last season. Norwich and Swansea will give it their best shot, but I think both will go straight down. I expect QPR to fair a lot better.

Won't happen.

Another close battle at the bottom. Honestly, all the teams from Wigan downwards are dreadful, any three could go down imo.

Currently I will go for this, however it can all change with signings.

1 Manchester City - I know, I know! But they were only 9 points off the top last year and could easily have turned a few draws into victories. I think Mancini will be more attacking when he needs to be and Aguero will be a top signing. Perhaps some extra creativity in midfield is what they're missing, but then so are their nearest rivals.

2 Manchester United - I think Young is going to be a fantastic signing for them, but I think it will take one error from De Gea (such as VDS vs WBA last season) and his confidence could shatter.

3 - Chelsea - I think last year was the last chance for their aging team to win it. I think Torres will be much better this season but I'm still not convinced he can play with Drogba. Squad players such as Mikel and Kalou aren't good enough.

4 - Liverpool - It will make me sad if Arsenal fail to finish in the top 4 but at the moment it's hard to see it not being Liverpool, and I think they can cope fine with and ever increasingly injury prone Steven Gerrard. I think Downing is class and that he wasn't overpriced and it's hard to see Suarez not being one of the players of the season.

5 - Arsenal - They really need to sort out the Fabregas situation. Defence will be tighter with return of Vermaelen and I think Gibbs is a great replacement for Clichy who seems to get weaker every season. They will be too reliant on RVP though.

6 - Tottenham - no strengthening in the summer, too many average players still however hoping Walker will come through.

7 - Villa

8 - Wolves - perhaps a gamble but they were very unlucky last season and too often made mistakes at the back. I think Johnson is the perfect remedy, an inspired signing. Full seasons from O'Hara, Kightly and Hammill too.

9 - Sunderland - A lot of new faces will take a while to gel, although many are impressive signings the squad still seems a little unbalanced.

10 - Everton - the year they finally start to fall

11 - Fulham

12 - Bolton

13 - Stoke

14 - Wigan

15 - West Brom

16 - QPR - solid but unspectacular

17 - Newcastle - They never learn, Ben Arfa injured again, their three best players from last season gone and Enrique likely to follow. A season of struggle

18 - Blackburn - Terrible

19 - Swansea - for all their pretty football they've lost some key players and haven't strengthened enough. Leroy Lita? Dear me.

20 - Norwich - I just can't see them being good enough. They got promoted because they scored so many late goals, I don't rate their strikeforce at Premiership Level

^ Perhaps, but just look at who has bought who outside of Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City really? Only Sunderland have spent a sizeable amoun. Everton haven't physically signed a player not on a loan/free transfer for about 18 months now. And Villa have a terrible manager in charge of them. I do think it's between yourselves and Fulham for 7th

We'll fuck it all up in comical fashion like only we can. That and the fact the injuries have stated to creep in already, prime example would be John O'Shea: Mr Reliable for Manchester United, he comes here and is crocked within three weeks. Couldn't happen to anybody else but us. Bruce must have them training with breeze blocks, we've had an inexplicable amount of injuries since he took over as manager.

The bottom half looks ridiculous to predict, none of them seem anything special. Think Norwich might surprise people, not signed much Premiership experience but that have signed some good lower league players who I reckon can make the step up!

I may have over predicted Wolves somewhat but some of them are ridiculous! The teams that have come up aren't as strong as the ones that have gone down, and they've probably strengthened more over the summer than any other team in the bottom half signing O'Hara permanently and Roger Johnson. Not a chance they will go down.

Norwich and Swansea will definitely go back down. Tarabat is not leaving QPR anymore as PSG have signed Javier Pastore instead, so he'll keep them in the league. Swansea will be the Blackpool of last season. They'll be able to give some teams that play football a run for their money on their day, but they'll be bossed off the park by the likes of Stoke.

Might as well do this while I'm here.

I know I could easily be wrong but I just don't see City winning the title while Mancini is still in charge. Liverpool have made good signings, yes but I think Arsenal will get off to a decent start and fall away but they'll still get a champions league place. Bolton and West Brom are teams who did well last season and made some wise moves over the summer and I expect them to find more consistentsy and compete to be the 'best of the rest'. Roger Johnson is a great signing for Wolves and I think they'll progress this season but not quite as much as Mark's prediction. Wigan are an absolute fail but I expect them to do a little better due to the fact that there are a few teams worse than them especially as Mike Ashley is showing himself up to be a very talented man indeed! How can anyone make people feel vaguely sorry for Joey Barton? Such a badly run club and they'll struggle to survive. QPR haven't done the signings I expected them to and Neil Warnock doesn't get the say he should but they'll stay up by the skin of their teeth. Blackburn's owners are clueless and it should take its toll this season and unforunately the other two promoted clubs just aren't good enough unless Brendan Rodgers can do a Wigan, Hull or Reading.

The league looks very samey this year, I'd back Chelsea to push United very close again - they won't get the lightning start they did last year but also won't take a midseason break. United will have to improve if they want to keep their title, which I think they will. It'll be close though, I really rate Villas Boas and his new signings look good - maybe ones for the future, though.

I think the Swans might surprise a few people this season Blackpool-style, but I think they have a bit more about themselves and stand a better chance of staying up. Arsenal, despite losing Fabs and Nasri should still have *just* enough to finish ahead of Liverpool, though a new striker and prolonged fitness for RVP are really important. With a bit of luck and a good run they can still challenge for the top, but its a long shot at the minute.
