I really hope Iceland and Romania qualify, it's good to see new and unusual teams in the competition. It's a shame Tahiti didn't qualify, they would have been the story of goodwill in the competition and everyone's 2nd favourite team.

I wouldn't rule out Iceland's chances. Croatia have gone rapidly downhill and, as has been said, have sacked their manager. If Iceland do qualify, they will shatter the record for the smallest (by population) country ever to qualify for the World Cup.

World Cup play off 1st leg: Ukraine 2-0 France

A World Cup without France? :o

Bit of a shock result. Ukraine's home form is excellent though. I wouldn't write France off just yet, but not having an away goal could be crucial. Evra had a shocker of a game.

Cameroon IN. Ghana is all but qualified now, so basically if Algeria manage to overcome the 1 goal deficit they have against Burkina Faso right now we'll have the same 5 African teams we had in South Africa (not counting SA obviously). Rooting for Burkina Faso because of that, and also because we need more fresh faces.
Either way it's a strong African contingent, although it's distinctly possible that none could make it to the last 16.
I really hope Burkina Faso qualify, they've got a good team and did well to get to the Africa Cup of nations final.

Ghana, Algeria, Greece, Croatia, Portugal and France (who got VERY LUCKY looking at the scoresheet) all in. We have our finalists now as Mexico and Uruguay are almost certain to make it based on the current score lines for them.

Aside from Ghana each of those matchups went the way I didn't want it to. :( Although some of that is underdog syndrome I'm just a little sad that the VARIETY isn't happening. (I'll get out my quadrennial appreciation of the actual sport proper next summer)

I'm so gutted that Burkina Faso, Iceland & Romania didn't qualify. I guess it's a case of same old-same old, but at least Bosnia will be a new team in the world cup.

The quality of football will be good though i think with all the powerful European & South American teams in it and the skillful African teams (GO SUPER EAGLES!!!) and we'll get to see the best players in the world apart from Gareth Bale.

It's gonna be really f**ked up watching live matches at midnight though when you've got work or school the following morning! :drama:

:D

No really though, gutted Zlatan won't be there.

Probably wasn't the wisest decision from me to take a trip to Wembley last night. Freezing cold only to watch quite a lacklustre performance from England. There didn't seem to be enough conviction in our attacking play

The 32 teams that have now qualified for the world cup:

Europe: Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, England, Switzerland, Russia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Portugal, France, Greece, Croatia

South America: Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Uruguay

Asia: Japan, Australia, South Korea, Iran

Africa: Nigeria, Cameroon, Algeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast

North America: USA, Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico
