You're such a Britney loon aren't ya? :lol: Actually where is Tyler. I'm surprised he's not commented on how disappointed he is to see Britney miss the top spot in what I can only describe as a quiet week in my chart. :P

 

'I Wanna Go' is a great pop and you just know if it was recorded by Rihanna and given a far more classy music video, this would be top 5 in the UK. I still think the music video really lets this song down - haven't a clue what the director was trying to achieve but whatever it was, he failed big time imo. It's utter madness though - there have been terrible songs imo that have done well because they've had a high budget video which even I have to admit are fantastic to watch...on mute (like 'E.T.' by Katy Perry). I reckon with a much better video, 'I Wanna Go' could have made a bigger impact.

It sure did. :o Who'd have expected this when it first entered at #10. That said, I really do like 'BTINH' so if any song this week was going to replace DJ Fresh at #1 then was going to be Beyonce. I just felt that, as much as I like 'Louder', it didn't deserve five weeks at no. 1 so a new no. 1 was needed.

Brooke Fraser has done well enough in my chart and a peak of #4 is still great nonetheless. However, for me the last contest really was all about Florroe in the end. Chart Life's track is also brilliant but overall it just lacked that certain something like helped 'Watch The World Go By' climb all the way to no. 1 in my chart.

Totally agree. 'No Love' was a real let down after the absolute gem that was 'Love The Way You Lie'. I often wonder what the record companies are trying to achieve when they choose to release such non songs as singles.

Isn't it just?!!! :D Cher Lloyd really dropped in favour over the week. It was ahead of Sneaky Sound System, Eminem and Tonight in my pre-release chart last weekend but by the time of writing my new chart I just felt 'Swagger Jagger' wasn't worthy of going top 20 in my chart. I've never hated the song but it's just got boring really fast - I think this is evident in its sales. 66k for such a high profile release speaks volumes. :lol: Maybe I'm being to quick to wrote off Cher Lloyd but if her hyped debut single can only sell 66k to top the UK charts, it does make me wonder how the next single will perform in comparison. She's gonna need an incredible second single to get those sales in.

1. At least it makes my chart unpredictable at times. :D It's usually the case when songs climb to no. 1, they usually just creep up towards the no. 1 spot before finally getting there. I've noticed over the years if there's a period where I have a few songs climbing to no. 1 it's because there's hardly any decent new releases - the UK release schedule for me is disgraceful. I can pick out the songs that are likely to be the biggest hits but I just don't like any of them enough to think "yes!!! this is going straight to no. 1 in my chart" as in entering my chart at no. 1 and staying there for a few weeks.

 

6. GAH!!! :drama: I'm going to blame that on my toothache I told you about in my PM. Turns out I had an abscess ( :cry: ) and a cavity. I've had a 5 day course of antibiotics and help ease the pain and inflamation of the gums. The abscess on my gums has gone down but the problem I'm having now is with this bloody cavity. Everytime I drink anything (even just plain old water) it's getting into the cavity and causes such intense pain. I was in agony this morning after taking a pain tablet. Oh the irony!!! :manson: I'm off work today because of this and I've got an emergency dentist appointment later on. :( Anyways, of course I meant Florrie and Chart Music. :D 'Watch The World Go By' just has that something special that really appealed to me when I first heard it. Eletronic synthpop bliss but 'All My Life' is also great. I personally think 'WTWGB' has the stronger chorus which may explain why I think it's the better track. As for Human Life (ahh, I think I've realised why I put Chart Life now :lol: ) I don't see 'Wherever We Are' going to no. 1 in my chart but it should get a decent run in the top 10.

 

11. 'Down With The Trumpets' is a great example of its genre. UK rap is usually a genre that has little impact or appeal with me so they've managed to get the balance between UK rap and "radio friendly" down to a tee. I'd imagine if the backing track had replaced the trumpet sample with 'Beat Of My Drum'/'Run The World (Girls)' style noise for 3 minutes, I would hate the song.

 

27. It's a weird one with 'Swagger Jagger' as when I first heard it, I actually thought it wasn't as bad as most people were making it out to be. However, the more I've heard this over the weeks, the less I've liked it. If I didn't have any order to compiling my chart and just tracks as soon as I heard them, I could well have put Cher Lloyd in my top 10 4 weeks ago but end up regretting it now. So as bizzare as it seems, my method to compiling this chart means 'Swagger Jagger' has been given a peak that I feel is justified.

1. Songs debuting at #1 in my chart is incredibly rare as you know, although most of my chart toppers seem to debut inside the top 5/10 these days before quickly ascending within a couple of weeks. However two of my last three #1's debuted at #67 :lol:

11. Indeed, I think that's why it struck me as being quite brilliant straight away, has a lot of pop appeal.

27. Each to their own, it did wear off quite quickly on me but I did think it was genius for a good two or three weeks so I think its #8 peak for me was justified in the end. Oddly, the top ten hits I regret most this year are three where I let my usual opinion of the artist temporarily cloud my judgement of the song and all three got a week at #10 when looking back they probably shouldn't have made the top 20 - those songs are Beat Of My Drum, Notorious and Born This Way. None of them will be featuring in my top 100 of the year that's for sure :lol: But aside from that I'm happy with all of my top ten hits this year and at least I didn't let any of these three go higher than #10!

1. Songs debuting at #1 in my chart is incredibly rare as you know, although most of my chart toppers seem to debut inside the top 5/10 these days before quickly ascending within a couple of weeks. However two of my last three #1's debuted at #67 :lol:

11. Indeed, I think that's why it struck me as being quite brilliant straight away, has a lot of pop appeal.

27. Each to their own, it did wear off quite quickly on me but I did think it was genius for a good two or three weeks so I think its #8 peak for me was justified in the end. Oddly, the top ten hits I regret most this year are three where I let my usual opinion of the artist temporarily cloud my judgement of the song and all three got a week at #10 when looking back they probably shouldn't have made the top 20 - those songs are Beat Of My Drum, Notorious and Born This Way. None of them will be featuring in my top 100 of the year that's for sure :lol: But aside from that I'm happy with all of my top ten hits this year and at least I didn't let any of these three go higher than #10!

 

1. My chart is usually the complete opposite - it's a tried (that's tried not tired!!! :P ) and tested formulae that works for me. The higher the new entry, the bigger the hit single. Well, that's the concept but of course there are those week like this week where Beyonce has successfully made her continuous climb from 10 to 01 in a few weeks. Funnily enough, 'BTINH' went straight into my chart at #10 off the back of its OA/OS release after just one week at #9 (iirc) in my Pre-Release chart so the signs were there that it'd be a big hit. This weeks has sort of confirmed that.

 

6. Well, I was off sick the last two days. Went back to work today and have to say I'm really glad I did.

 

11. It's clearly had the same effect since its release. It has been very much a slow burner gradually getting more and more popular. Let's see if Rizzle Kicks grab that top 10 SMASH next week. :D

 

27. The bonus to having what I describe as "form" to my chart means that songs tend to get the peaks I feel they deserve. If there's an awkward week that just happens to have a lot of new entries/competition then tracks tend to rise to their peak. I guess Beyonce at #1 is a good enough example of this. A song I've liked since first hearing it but it's managed to battle its way to the top. Also 'The A Team' making its way to #2. As for those three tracks; 'Born This Way' got to #5 in my chart which I'd say is fair enough. I did like it but still think it could've been better. 'Judas' was a bit like 'Swagger Jagger' in your chart - a #8 peak but how I got bored of that song so quickly. Iirc 'Judas' plummeted something like 08-15-23-OUT. :o 'Notorious' was a borderline hit scraping in at #36 - I knew from first listen that it wasn't a song I really liked but there were elements of the track that were good despite sounding like a mess. :lol: 'Beat Of My Drum' for me is a HOT MESS. That's backing track is dreadful with all those 'Run The World'-esque weird bendy noises. Just...no!!! :no:

It sure did. Beyonce does face competition though this weekend up even though 'BTINH' eventually hit the top spot, there's a chance it could be knocked off again in my new chart.

:lol: As I've mentioned elsewhere, I personally think 'I Wanna Go' is a great pop track - the type of song that'd be doing well if it was by Lady GaGa or Rihanna. The biggest disappointment with this song is the music video. It's just terrible and doesn't help sell the song whatsover. :(

I'm actually quite surprised it's taken this long to release this. I think it's been considered as one of the highlights from Eminem's latest album but that was released well over a year ago. I reckon this might've done better had it been the follow up 'Love The Way You Lie' rather than the non song that is 'No Love'.
