First listen i didn't like it. After a few listens it has grown on me. Nice beat.

I listened to this considering it won the sound of 2011 and whatnot.

It's absolutely dreadful. How do people enjoy this.

You'll be told to listen to "Prince Tag" next coz it "shows a different side to her blah blah blah".

She's so very Pixie Lott. Not a tabloid bore like her and obviously more talented but making this sort of generic, cutty-cutter, personality-laking pop music. 'Do it Like a Dude' is pure mimicry. All of this talk of "mandem" and what not. a 20 year old girl, working on Miley Cyrus songs. Not a 16 working class girl from Hackney. Authentic or some attempt at making an illogical, fake persona because it'll sell?

I do think she's somewhat unworthy of all the hype. Vocally great and everything but I dont see how she stands out from everyone else similar that much.

These performances are incredible:

I'm with Jake on this one, I find her full of pretence and try-hard. She's literally jumping on every trend going to fit in with the current pop scene. I imagine she won't be as big as people think...

Sound of 2009: Little Boots

Sound of 2008: Adele

They sometimes get it right 'Adele' ^_^, sometimes get it wrong 'Little Boots'. -_-

I wonder if they'll get it right with Jessie J, i think she can create a big fanbase and she has potential.

I havent really got an opinion on her, I think i like her, but havent seen enough of her yet. Do it Like A Dude isnt the best lead single, as i find its really unoriginal and quite irritating, but i guess quite catchy and it is doing very very well, i think her next song will be most crucial.

Adele didn't win Sound of 2008, Duffy did...

nope, Adele did beat Duffy actually :P

and yeah I still hate this song, I dont care if its a 'joke' or whatever, its $h!t -_- Price Tag is alright admittedly, but it sounds just like the Black Eyed Peas- Where Is The Love, I fail to see how that stands out

As someone has already stated for me, Adele did...

Would it be fair to assume that as this is just a 'parody' of what's currently popular, and that it's not what she's about or in any way reflective of the rest of her material, that this won't be included on her album?
I dunno ... I don't think she wanted it to be as big as it was, she refused to play it on the Album Chartshow a few weeks back. It probably will now though given it looks to be a big hit.

Maybe she can pass it off as a bonus track at the end like X Factor winners do with their debut singles!

I find Do It Like A Dude very catchy, but I definitely don't love it. Price Tag is better, but as others have stated, it's absolutely nothing original and she's bringing nothing new to the table here. There's nothing wrong with offering no originality of course, indeed few chart acts do, but when you're topping polls all over the place of defining the next year, you exepct something unique and new. I haven't heard any of her other songs yet but I'll keep an open mind. I can imagine her debut album will be a pick 'n' mix affair with no cohesion whatsoever, but we'll see...

Do It Like A Dude was designed to be polarising and divide people. I think the main intention was to get her name out there. Whatever you think of it, people are discussing it (and they were prior to all the recent press about her) so it has served its purpose. Jessie even says in her Sound of 2011 interview that she loves that a lot of people didn't get it and a lot of people did.

I'm sure it will be on her album but I'd be surprised if there are any similar songs as all the other music I've heard from her is nothing like it.

'Do It Like a Dude' is growing, but it's still awful and tacky... That said, 'Price Tag' isn't much better; it sounds very dated and doesn't fit the time of year it's to be released in at all. I don't see her being the biggest new artist this year, at all, and I hope not too!
I have heard four other tracks from the album. They are nothing like Do it like like a dude. So do it like a dude is just a good ploy to drum up interest which is fair play. It is catchy and has worked out with interest in Jessie J
