Madonna's Tour to stop in Edinburgh, local media says

Mounting rumours from the North suggest that Madonna could make her Scottish debut in the Edinburgh as part of her new tour and perform on the Murrayfield stage on July 21, although no tour dates have been confirmed.

News of a possible date broke online yesterday, but neither the Scottish Rugby Union, which runs Murrayfield Stadium, nor Beverley Hills-based events company Live Nation, which represents Madonna, would confirm or deny the speculation.

Live Nation would only say that there would be something later in the year.

One self-confessed Madonna superfan in Edinburgh, Scott Anderson, 34, who has watched the US songstress in concert 14 times, said she could sell out Murrayfield Stadium several times over.

I had heard rumours that this might be happening, he said.

I think its about time she would play in Scotland and thought there might be a chance because she got married here. She often does play in places where she hasnt been before and will be guaranteed a sell-out here - she could probably do a couple of nights.

I hate to think of the money I have spent seeing Madonna over the years but it was worth it every time.

Councillor Steve Cardownie, Edinburghs festivals and events champion, said securing a Madonna concert in the Capital would be a huge coup.

If this is true, this is fantastic news for the city, he said. Madonna is the superstar which all the rest try to emulate and if she comes to Murrayfield it will be a sell-out and another feather in Edinburghs cap.

People will travel from all over Scotland and elsewhere. She is the queen of pop.

He added: "I've been fortunate enough to see David Bowie and the Rolling Stones at Murrayfield and Madonna is up there with them."

Live Nation's CEO says the following..

"Madonna's going on the road, and those tickets will go on sale right after the Super Bowl. If you have one or two of those giant tours, it keeps the industry level where you want it."

got two golden circle tickets for hyde park!!

Congratulations :)

I might check out some of the cheaper tickets, but I bet you'll be standing so far away you won't actually be able to see her

Golden Circle are only £80 this time, which is much cheaper than last time. I might stretch to 2 shows at this rate.

Ticketmaster has them for £137.50

Golden Circle is not £80

Normal standing is £77

Golden Circle = £125 (with added fees = £137)

Thought the tickets weren't available until Friday, is this a fan exclusive? (I'm a fan but not a member of her fanclub, never got round to it).

If you go on her website you can buy a special pass for £12 I think which allows you to access the fan club pre-sale. General sale for the UK dates goes live on Friday 9am. Golden circle has already sold out for Edinburgh in the pre-sale so I'll wait for general sale I think.

I got 2 GC tickets today as well!.

Well done

That sucks that there's different prices for different venues. I'm not gonna pay £77 for Hyde Park, I've been there before and if you're past about half way the stage is a tiny little dot!

^ i agree i am very hesitant about her choosing to play hyde park, i cant see how this venue will suite her show? What is very strange about this tour is that the floor / set up of stage ect seems to be different for each venue?

I really wish she did an arena or wembley stadium at least.

Yes I'm hoping she adds some dates at the 02 or Wembley, maybe for later on in the tour like she did last time. £77 is too much for such a big place like Hyde Park and I don't really fancy standing on my feet all day in the middle of July either!

wembley stadium was rubbish last time , so hope she doesnt go there!
