Madonna has landed.

 

The Material Girl arrived at Nassau Coliseum this week to start rehearsals for her “MDNA Tour” using the elaborate stage set that will travel around the world with her and is expected to spend plenty of time in Uniondale before the tour launches in Tel Aviv on May 31.

 

Judging from photos of the closed rehearsals released on her website, the massive, triangle-shaped set includes two walkways for Madonna to wade into the crowd in the floor seats and an enclosed area where fans can get close to the stage. There will also be a huge three-part video screen that promoters have called the largest in the world.

 

Madonna has also assembled a large backing band of at least nine musicians this time out to introduce fans to her dance music opus “MDNA,” which debuted at No. 1, as well as reworked versions of her classics. According to numerous fan sites, Madonna plans to offer new versions of “Open Your Heart” and “Justify My Love” that she is still perfecting at the Coliseum.

 

Until this week, Madonna had been rehearsing in Manhattan with her dancers and band in a windowless room she calls “the dungeon,” where she has been learning routines, as well as learning to slackline, the acrobatic maneuvers on a tightrope-like cord that were part of her flashy Super Bowl Halftime Show. At recent appearances, Madonna has said she is bruised and cut from her slackline lessons.

 

While much of the Coliseum has been cleared out for Madonna, who has rented the building for six weeks, a little bit of Long Island flavor remains, as New York Islanders banners still hang over her practice area.

 

Though promoters announced last week that Madonna's tour start would be pushed back two days due to production issues, the North American leg of the tour is still set for Aug. 28 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. She plays Yankee Stadium for the first time, with shows set for Sept. 6 and Sept. 8, and returns to Madison Square Garden Nov. 12. Currently, no Nassau Coliseum date has been set.

Madonna.com has finally announced the long-awaited MDNA Tour dates for Argentina, confirming the concert in the city of Cordoba that had put the local media on fire a few days ago and also adding a concert in the Capital city's River Plate Stadium.

Argentina! We are happy to announce that Madonna's MDNA Tour is to stop at Buenos Aires' River Plate Stadium on December 13 and at Cordoba's Estadio Kempes on December 22!

A devoted fan club pre-sale for both shows will start at 10am local time for Legacy members (11am for Live Pass members) on May 7th.

 

Public on-sale will start May 12 at 12:01AM local time for Internet sales and at 10AM local time for Phones, Outlets and Box Office.

The amazing talent of Dago González, who directed some of the most amazing backdrop videos for Madonna ever such as Paradise Not For Me and Bedtime Story will be again part of a Madonna tour. We have heard that Dago is at the moment filming several backdrops for the MDNA tour.

One of the last backdrops to be filmed is the one for Masterpiece, so we can confirm the amazing, fan favourite song from the W.E. soundtrack is definitely part of the setlist. Most of what has been filmed at the moment is inspired by the Spanish Basque Country. Scenes of traditional and religious cerimonies have already been filmed for the videos and imagery, like the big Basque Sun, is being heavily used. The sun in the Basque tradition symbolizes the eye of God. Interior of caves have also been filmed for the videos.

 

But the work is not done yet, more videos will be filmed in the next few days including one featuring the tour dancers doing choreographies and Madonna close ups.

 

As usual the backdrop videos will be a central part of this Madonna show and people who had the luck to attend rehearsals are already stating, without any doubts, that this this tour is really one of the all time best as both the musical numbers and the choreographies will leave the audience breathless!

Arthur Fogel: MDNA Tour ''inches from sellout''

Madonna has sold 653,000 tickets to the 43 North American dates on her upcoming concert tour, an executive with concert promoter Live Nation Entertainment Inc. said, putting it on track to be one of the top-grossing outings on record.

About 30,000 tickets remain available for the tours 36 U.S. shows, Live Nation head of global touring Arthur Fogel said, adding most of those are either single tickets or seats that are set aside for disabled concertgoers.

 

We are inches from sellout everywhere, Mr. Fogel said in a telephone interview with the Wall Street Journal Thursday, adding that around 30% of ticket buyers had signed up for a free copy of the singers most recent album, MDNA - an acceptance rate on the high end for such offers.

 

Of the tickets sold in North America, Mr. Fogel said, 500,000 were in the U.S. Those free-album offers fueled a healthy first week for MDNA, according to Nielsen SoundScan, which reported 359,000 copies sold in the U.S. In subsequent weeks, the albums sales have slowed considerably, and it has now sold a total 456,000 copies in six weeks.

Mr. Fogel said that between 200,000 and 250,000 of those sales represented albums given away with concert tickets.

Madonna on tour with flexible hoses from Neede

- Pop star Madonna will be touring the world from May 31 with flexible hoses from Neede. On top of the giant stage the popstar will bring an inflatable roof, filled with air through hoses from the company Reefhors in Neede.

 

Director Herman ten Barge is very proud of the special order. As dj he spinned a lot of Madonna tracks in the 80's, " back then I never could've dreamed I one day would be working for Madonna".

 

The international stage building company StageCo from Belgium will be building four huge, identical stages of 70 metres in width, 40 metres deep and 26 metres in height. "A sail as roof was found to be too risky, that is why a construction was though of with an inflatable roof."

 

A customer of Reefhoors will be taking care of the fans and approached Ten Barge to supply more than a kilometre of hoses. „I instantly said: whatever happens, I will fulfill Madonna's order”.

Madonna has asked and got permission to use Brandon Britner's image on a video backdrop.

Brandon killed himself in 2010 he was 14 due to bullying and abuse.

 

Madonna did speak on Ellen a few years ago about teen suicides.
