Matt did a new song at IOW festival today called All That Matters :)

That's good to hear! As long as he comes back with a big single...he needs to be picked up by radio again

Matt is too good to fall by the way side, ideally i would love an ew deal and see him return more successful than ever.

Its just a shame that he didnt come up with a song like somebody that i used to know. that really suited his voice when he covered it and i could see it as something he would write

Matt Cardle has easily been the best of all the male winners. It's just a shame he was forced (he clearly was) into releasing the Take That rejected 'Beautiful World' track 'Run For Your Life' - even if I did like it despite being a continuation of 'High' by James Blunt/'Patience' by Take That.

 

I thought 'Starlight' was a great single but by then, Matt was pretty much been snubbed as a failure because of the lukewarm success of 'RFYL'. Still think they left it far too long for Matt to release his official first single. He deserved better imo.

 

Same will apply to Little Mix if their proper first single charts anywhere but #1 (yes, even a UK #2 will be considered a disaster!!!).

RFYL wasn't a left over from the Beautiful World album, Barlow wrote it whilst doing the Progress stuff. Matt pushed for it, he said so himself. He wasn't forced to have it. Even still there is no guarantee that Starlight (which was a good song) would have outpeaked the number 6 of the lead single which isnt disappointing at all as it got the album noticed and got it to number 2 the next week
