Just rattled through all four episodes and the show is MUCH better this week and put all of that down to the absence of Bea. This week felt like it had properly written stories moving at an appropriate pace. Key players like Sharon, Ravi, Vicki and Ross being back and most of the good characters getting screen time. Even Mark is getting better now his initial storyline is done. I do have to laugh that they’re still having a 90 year old Mo lugging boxes around all by herself. Also living for Zoe going on another break (no wonder they’ve ended the contract) to Lynne’s no less! And Lynne has more doggy drama! Can’t wait to hear about it! They never ever go and see Little Mo, do they?
  2. Candy is fantastic. There was so much worse at the top in 2012.
  3. Some forgotten Buzzjack lore is that I predicted that We Found Love would get a rushed earlier release to coincide with Moves Like Jagger’s best shot at no.1 repeating Rihanna blocking Maroon 5 in 2007.

I guess, I was just going off the news really.

That would tie in with Tracy’s ‘they’re not here’ line from the flashforward when asked about the Vic owners.
  6. You mean the counter terrorism police are investigating it. As unpopular as Widdecombe was in a lot of circles, I don’t think her murder could be describes as a counter to terrorism.

I’m in Paris this week so I won’t be keeping up with the show until I watch them all on Thursday night. I did see the Zoe news though and I think I stated earlier in the thread that I wouldn’t be surprised if she was leaving. She’s had barely any screen time this side of Christmas and they haven’t developed her at all. Sending her away for a reset down the line is understandable but killing her off seems short sighted. Her return was a flop. It was badly written, not amazingly acted and took up too much time of the show. She was known as a classic character but I’ve argued this before-she was never that great. Michelle Ryan was decent enough in the early 2000s when she was playing a gobby teenager but they’ve brought her back exactly the same. Zoe was never particularly likeable and in a family setting that included Mo, Kat, Little Mo and even Lynne, she wasn’t that interesting. Her legend grew through the iconic storylines she was involved in. Namely You Ain’t My Muvva and Den’s murder. That was pure circumstance. Any character could have been thrown into those. It wasn’t Zoe or Michelle who made them iconic. The show even focused her return around two awful storylines-her relationships with Dennis Rickman and Anthony Trueman. Two stories that were terrible the first time around. If she wasn’t Kat’s daughter, no one would be asking for her back. They needed a plan to bring her back and it was a poor one. We haven’t seen her develop relationships with her new family members and it’s been repetitive and boring. They clearly knew they had to do something around Christmas but could work out what. Now that they’ve decided to do what they’re doing they’ve made a mockery of the last year. Do I particularly care if Zoe leaves? No, she’s been terrible. But this storyline has cost Anthony Trueman’s character and his life and we’ll have two characters that didn’t exist a year ago hanging around as orphans and seemingly only brought into the show so they can react to their parents dying. They whole thing is now a completely unneeded waste of of time when they could have decided to fix it or shelve it for later.

I imagine so. Though owning the gym didn’t stop her spending 90% of the last year with Michelle.

Not Sharon breezing back in to announce she’s fed up of having ties to Walford and wants to see Michelle more often after having been with her for the last 47/52 weeks of the year.

Very low bars. They weren’t fun but they were storylines. The Bea ‘storyline’ was made up as they went along. It’s like they had Ronni Ancona signed up before they thought of anything to write. I’ve defended the show loads this year when people have moaned because I’ve seen them learn from mistakes. Jasmine as a character is getting better. They may be able to build Zoe up again. Cindy is making more sense. The Brannings work. Elaine works better now. But I won’t defend this slop. I don’t care how camp it is.

So glad to Bea plot is at an end ‘Mrs Bumble’ what a load of rubbish. Next time, plan your character properly not jump in with the campest thing you can think of and assume it’ll satisfy.
  12. I don’t know. It feels unfair on those in Clacton to only have the choice of novelty candidates. Surely we’ll just end up with a second by election that Farage cannot stand in.

That was all kinds of awful. I know Billy and Honey were due a big storyline but was that the best they could do? The fight scene at the end had terrible dialogue, choreography and even the acting was limp. It was like Emma Barton couldn’t quite believe what they were asking her to do. For me Bea has been a flop. No coherent storyline, plot driven drivel.
  14. Complete performative bullshit. He has never been a serious MP.

What? Bea has a car now? Waiting for this to be over tbh. I’ve never seen the show try so hard for internet memes.
