Keane spend their 5th year in a row in the top 200 but drop to their lowest position yet, one of many bands to have emerged from that period of time who've never got close to reaching the same successes they managed with their debut. Never Forget You is Noisettes entry for the year, I adore the song and whilst it's disappointing to see it fall, for a song that wasn't that big a hit, although it did have quite good longevity, it's remembered more fondly than Don't Upset The Rhythm.
August 29, 201113 yr Author 184 - 76 Coldplay 'The Scientist' (104-76-184) UK #10 183 - NE Cassie 'Me & U' (183) UK #6 qKgPPB1dhD0 Coldplay fall over 100 places with The Scientist after peaking last year. It was the second single from their second album and has always remained one of their best loved songs, so I'm surprised to see it fall so much this year. Cassie's 2006 hit Me & U enters for the first time after coming through the Missing Songs round, I'm not sure if it's ever been in the 2006 game before last year, but considering the type of song it is I'm pleased to see it enter. It's not the type of thing I would normally listen to but it really is rather good.
August 29, 201113 yr Author 182 - NE (182) UK #2 181 - NE Jay-Z ft. Alicia Keys 'Empire State of Mind' (181) UK #2 0UjsXo9l6I8 After failing to enter last year this pair of 2009 UK number two hits enter at the second time of asking. La Roux had two massive hits but the album wasn't a great seller considering and future releases didn't do too much, I imagine it's because after a couple of tracks is more than enough of that horrible shrieking she calls a voice. It happened to me too, although I was on board with Quicksand and Fascination well before In For The Kill was released and it became something of a sleeper hit, not peaking until its fifth week in the chart. Earlier I said No One was the first of three Alicia Keys entries this year, I stand corrected as I forgot to take into account her collaboration with Jay-Z, a song which although was pretty big itself managed to inspire her own stripped down version with its accessibility and mass appeal making it even bigger, with the two of them selling over a million copies between them in under a year. Disclaimer: This may or may not be true but I'm sure it is and I'm not bothered enough to check.

August 30, 201113 yr Author For those people who don't follow or care about this I'm sorry for filling the top of the chart forum with all my threads but I need to do some of these today as I now won't be able to get any done on Friday. 180 - 70 (48-24-45-30-70-180) UK #3 179 - NE Dizzee Rascal ft. Calvin Harris & Chrome 'Dance Wiv Me' (179) UK #1 GibLntdLiJA After spending 5 years inside the top 100 Alicia Keys plummets with Fallin', not something I understand as she's had a good amount of success with her other entries this year. It had made the final for four years running, could only make the playoff last year and this year fell to a low of 19th in the 2001 game, a shame that its last appearance will be such a large fall. 2009 number one Dance Wiv Me gives Dizzee Rascal his first ever top 200 entry in the Record of the Decade competition, having failed to make it in the previous two years.
August 30, 201113 yr Author 178 - NE Vampire Weekend 'A-Punk' (178) UK #55 _XC2mqcMMGQ&ob 177 - NE (177) UK #9 It's a sign of how BuzzJack has changed over the years when acts like Vampire Weekend can finish in such strong positions in competitions like this one. In days gone by A-Punk wouldn't have stood a hope in hell of getting this high but it's one of the best loved alternative songs of the previous decade, and makes a thoroughly deserved entry amongst various big hits. The Saturdays also enter this year with Ego. Whilst it may be one of their lowest peaking songs only one has spent longer in the chart, and Ego is generally regarded as slightly more classy than their usual fare.
August 30, 201113 yr Author 176 - RE Natasha Bedingfield 'These Words' (122-123-144-65-X-176) UK #1 e5RuGj0g1tk&ob 175 - 18 (07-04-10-34-18-175) UK #1 A pair of UK number ones here. These Words returns after a year out which seemed odd as the year before it had rocketed to a new peak, whilst POOR BRAVE XTINA has the biggest fall within the top 200 with Beautiful, a song which had been an ever present in the final and spent three years in the top 10 before it flopped on its arse this year.
August 30, 201113 yr Author 174 - NE (174) UK #13 173 - NE Crystal Castles ft. Robert Smith 'Not In Love' (173) UK #54 32udqal_lyQ INDIE! INDIE! INDIE! Bloc Party's first ever Record of the Decade appearance has taken a full six years, with it finally coming for 2005s Banquet. As the tide turns to giving indie and alternative music more time on BuzzJack, it's not their only entry this year either as Flux fell at the playoff stage. As with Vampire Weekend it shows how far this site has come that the likes of Crystal Castles can sit safely amongst the Natasha Bedingfield's and Christina Aguilera's of this world, as the greatest song by far of 2010 and best cover version of all time, as well as being their only top 75 hit Not In Love, enters at a respectable 173. Vocals are provided by 80s favourite Cure frontman Robert Smith.
August 30, 201113 yr Author 172 - 72 (72-172) UK #1 171 - NE Killers 'Read My Mind' (171) UK #15 zc8hbSM1zVo&ob When Love Takes Over (recently bast*rdised by Channel 5) is the second entry for these pairing, and the 2009 number one hit falls a disappointing exact 100 places this year. It's the highest placed song for David but not for Kelly. It's joined here by a new entry for Read My Mind, which is the first of 6 entries for The Killers.
August 30, 201113 yr It's strange how when an artist falls out of favour with the public that people go off their old hits as well (surely that could be the only reason for Xtina's fall?!). Don't quite understand the logic in that really but whatever... A-Punk is a classic already, for sure! Brilliant song, and the best in this section so far. Not In Love is good but doesn't excite me as much as it does others clearly(!); prefer the other two singles from that album (now I'd be really impressed if Baptism ever entered the chart here ). Dance Wiv Me is also brilliant.
August 30, 201113 yr Author Oddly Christina does have one more top 200 song than last year, although that is at #199, and one has climbed (albeit very slightly) so it doesn't really explain why Beautiful it was so far down. It was comfortably her highest placed song, now the three songs which were below it are comfortably ahead of it. Yes, I'd love to see something like Baptism make this but I can't see that ever happening somehow! I do think all three singles from last year are great, but Not In Love just has that something extra, I think it's mainly because it's so much better than the original (by original I mean album version, not the Platinum Blonde version from the 80s), the chorus is incredible. I heard it in a club once, I went mental!
August 31, 201113 yr Great to see The Killers enter the chart. :yahoo: Read My Mind (and many of their other songs) is simple a classic   And the winner of best indie band of all time goes to...
August 31, 201113 yr Pleased to see Lola's Theme finally doing well although it's absolutely insulting that it's finished beneath the generic and plain Commander :/ Ah well, these results are quite baffling to me so far, how on earth did Beautiful fall so far? :( I know what superbossanova means though about people falling out of favour and similarly artists that are currently flavour of the month seem to see all of their past material doing a lot better this year.
August 31, 201113 yr Author The flavour of the month thing does seem to be more appropriate in some places than others, Sugababes are the biggest case I'd say, but it doesn't always help, Jennifer Lopez saw no real improvement with her older material despite her success this year.
August 31, 201113 yr Author 170 - RE (60-53-49-169-X-170) UK #5 169 - NE Example 'Kickstarts' (169) UK #3 T9yGcKlYAiw&ob A re-entry and a new entry here. Nelly Furtado's debut single returns after a one year absence, as she has two more entries than last year, and Example's hit from a year ago also charts. It was his biggest hit until a couple of months ago, when Change The Way You Kiss Me made number one. I'm not sure any of his other singles will be quite as universally popular as this one though.
August 31, 201113 yr Author 168 - 166 (27-73-166-168) UK #4 167 - RE Nelly & Kelly Rowland 'Dilemma' (197-160-X-49-X-167) UK #1 8WYHDfJDPDc Nelly Furtado appears again just two places higher than her previous appearance, as All Good Things continues the pattern of sliding in each year, although it's halted somewhat with just a two place fall this time around. The other Nelly also makes his only appearance in the competition, and is also the third entry for Kelly Rowland, it also continues an emerging pattern of being here one year, and gone the next. The peak of 49 however does seem a bit out of place.
August 31, 201113 yr Author 166 - 57 (107-128-67-36-57-166) UK #1 165 - NE Hot Chip 'Ready For The Floor' (165) UK #6 yhASu2OjEcQ&ob Sugababes first of seven entries in the competition is a 100+ place fall for Round Round, taking it to a new Record of the Decade low. They didn't fall out of the top 200 with any of their entries (other than Overload which had to) but they have taken many a tumble this year, and depending on their performance in the final could make it 7/7. They're joined by indie favourites Hot Chip, whose Ready For The Floor is by some distance the most successful single of their career, and is probably the most accessible of it too. A marked improvement on last year where it failed to make the top 35 cut in the 2008 game.
August 31, 201113 yr 190 - RE (173-138-X-110-X-190) UK #2 189 - RE Nelly Furtado 'Try' (110-158-133-X-189) UK #15 3--1Kw2UHDQ&ob Two re-entries here and rather oddly they have the same Record of the Decade peak, of 110th. Sweet Dreams My LA Ex was Rachel Stevens first of five top 10 hits as a solo artist and is back here for a fourth time and remains the only one of her songs to have made the top 200. Nelly Furtado's 2004 hit also re-enters after a year out and is the first of five entries for her, two more than last year! 'Try' has a TERRIBLE peak, easily one of the top songs of the past decade, I'm pretty shocked it's never been top 100. 166 - 57 (107-128-67-36-57-166) UK #1 165 - NE Hot Chip 'Ready For The Floor' (165) UK #6 yhASu2OjEcQ&ob Sugababes first of seven entries in the competition is a 100+ place fall for Round Round, taking it to a new Record of the Decade low. Their 2.0 era songs really should all be comfortably in the top 100 imo. YAY 4 Hot Chip entering <3
August 31, 201113 yr its great to see Sweet Disposition enter the top 200  and its good to see A-Punk there as well, although I wish it was Oxford Comma that was getting it's success in this game :( shame to see Beautiful fall so much, its her only song that I really love
