September 1, 201113 yr For an act who are so big Muse are slightly odd in that they don't have that one massive hit or signature song like most bands, but Plug In Baby is certainly up there as a fans favourite and crowd favourite. I would have agreed with this until 2009 but surely 'Uprising' now fills that role? (Even though I don't think that's even their biggest hit)
September 1, 201113 yr Author I don't know really, it's certainly up there but I wouldn't say it's any moreso than Plug In Baby, Knights of Cydonia, Hysteria, or Supermassive Black Hole. There's also New Born, Map of the Problematique and Butterflies and Hurricanes which are also three huge favourites.
September 1, 201113 yr Author 134 - NE Knife 'Heartbeats' (134) UK #119 wcv3v6XfEvM 133 - NE (133) UK #3 OMG THE KNIFE! http://www.moopy.org.uk/forums/images/smilies/disco.gif A song better known for the Jose Gonzalez cover which spent an age in the chart after featuting on a Sony advert, the original couldn't be much more further away from it. Released a couple of times in the early part of the decade it finally became a #119 smash in October 2004, it came complete with a wonderful high budget video too! I'm delighted to see it in here and so high too, hopefully it will remain in years to come! There's also a new entry for Katy Perry with the most loved of her 5 (including features) 2010 singles Firework, it spent a total of 9 weeks at the top 10 after an X-Factor appearance last year and has gone on to become her biggest selling single.
September 1, 201113 yr Author 132 - RE Arctic Monkeys 'When The Sun Goes Down' (116-X-X-132) UK #1 qBbk9IjRdO0 131 - 93 (63-93-131) UK #1 Arctic Monkeys continue a good year so far with a second re-entry, this time for their second number one single When The Sun Goes Down. It was a huge fan favourite initially when called Scummy so was no great shock it went straight to the top of the chart. It's joined by a fellow number one, Girls Aloud's The Promise, which takes a fall for the second year running. Still 9 more songs left to come for the girls!
September 1, 201113 yr Author 130 - 64 (36-28-55-67-64-130) UK #1 129 - 87 Britney Spears 'Womanizer' (51-87-129) UK #3 rMqayQ-U74s&ob With Beautiful falling so much it's no surprise that Dirrty takes a large fall too, 66 places in total. If anything is surprising it's that it didn't fall further, it's always been way behind Beautiful on here, so it's odd it should now be comfortably in front, however it's in by far its lowest ever position. There's also a fall for her long term rival Britney Spears with her 2008 lead single Womanizer.
September 1, 201113 yr Author 128 - 96 (96-128) UK #5 127 - 122 Aaliyah 'More Than a Woman' (91-122-127) UK #1 3NLUthL6-BU One of many vastly overplayed songs from Beyonce's previous album takes a fall from the top 100 as it can only manage 128 this time around. Sweet Dreams was the fourth single from I Am Sasha Fierce and it still had a fantastic chart run. I remember being shcoked when More Than a Woman was number one because I'd never heard it before, it's now been 10 years since she tragically died and I'm sure she'd have gone to have a big noughties career as she was in her prime when she was taken.

September 1, 201113 yr Disappointed to see The Promise and The Loving Kind fall, two of my three favourite Girls Aloud songs. Biiiiig drop for Kelly there, how on earth did we rank it 28th best of the decade last year? It's completely by-numbers.
September 2, 201113 yr Author From compiling the chart runs of all the songs it does seem very common for songs to fall significantly in their second year. I guess people tend to put more weight towards recent songs as they're most familiar with them and still listen regularly.
September 6, 201113 yr Author Right, I really need to get on with this before people think I've turned into Bre.
September 6, 201113 yr Author 126 - NE (126) UK #10 125 - RE Kate Nash 'Foundations' (159-X-X-125) UK #2 ryH5cga0yUI&ob Be Mine! is the second entry in the top 200 for Robyn, and the first of her three individual solo efforts with the other two both being in the final after winning their individual rounds, so a successful year for the Swede, certainly more so than usual as Be Mine enters for the first time. Kate Nash returns with her 2007 #2 hit Foundations, a song which can go down as one of the unluckiest number two singles of all time, spending 5 weeks in the position with one week being less than 20 copies behind Rihanna's monster Umbrella. When it finally increased sales enough to overtake Timbaland has increased by more and took the number one position.
September 6, 201113 yr Author 124 - 131 (96-131-124) UK #18 123 - NE Tinie Tempah 'Pass Out' (123) UK #1 QzvGKas5RsU&ob There's a slight rebound for Snow Patrol and Martha Wainwright after their fall last year, however it has overtook comfortably overtaken Chasing Cars for the first time. It was very much overshadowed at the time of release as Chasing Cars hadn't been out that long and was still inside the top 40 upon release but does seem to have grown over the years to become as much of a favourite, their voices complementing each other so well to create such a beautiful song so effortlessly. Tinie Tempah's Pass Out is the highest placed 2010 song that didn't make the play-off and only lost out as Cee Lo Green received more higher marks. Its success here proves my theory that it is a phenomenally good song with huge crossover appeal. Fans of rap music were very much on its side but on forums such as this where rap music is far from being one of the more popular genres it always seems to do well in competitions, certainly much better than similar songs, proving that Pass Out is a genuinely popular smash hit which kicked off an incredible 12 months for Tinie.
September 6, 201113 yr Author 122 - NE (122) UK #1 121 - NE Shakira 'She Wolf' (121) UK #4 booKP974B0k&ob Two 2009 songs now which weren't popular enough to enter this last year which is quite surprising, certainly in the case of Cheryl as whilst she does have a fair amount of hate on this site Fight For This Love is a song which I'd have thought would always be reasonably successful on competitions like this as it was very popular at the time. There's also the first of four top 200 entries for Shakira.
September 6, 201113 yr Author 120 - 105 Kelly Rowland 'Stole' (109-127-130-130-105-120) UK #2 5o01uU7OdnQ&ob 119 - 86 (103-48-98-86-119) UK #1 The award for the most consistent song in the Record of the Decade competition should probably go to Kelly Rowland's Stole. Whilst something like Toxic is eternally popular and has been in the top 10 each year Stole has never made the top 100 but never been lower than #130, remarkable in a competition where big drops and climbs from one year to the next are quite commonplace, especially outside of the final. Crazy becomes Cee Lo's second most popular song as it falls to its lowest ever position of 119.
September 6, 201113 yr Author 118 - NE Sigur Ros 'Hoppipolla' (118) UK #24 4L_DQKCDgeM 117 - 88 (72-X-88-117) UK #7 We have a song not sung in English! They're a rare thing in the UK charts, some say because we're xenophobic but I'd say the proof shows that's really not the case as whenever songs in foreign language receive an equal amount of promotion that English songs do they tend to always do well. If the UK public are not aware of a song they will not buy it, and that is the fault of record companies in insisting either English language versions of songs are recorded or they're just not released here. Hoppipolla was a song that received a large amount of exposure largely resulting from a BBC trailer, people liked it and it sold. It's common sense really. There's also another fall for Sugababes, although this one is not as surprising as others of theirs are as it's not been consistent in this competition anyway, appearing in only 50% of top 200s.
September 6, 201113 yr Author 116 - 148 (138-113-91-57-148-116) UK #2 115 - RE No Doubt 'It's My Life' (46-64-145-172-X-115) UK #17 ubvV498pyIM&ob A 32 place climb for Destiny's Child continues a successful year for the girls as it means their three entries have all climbed this year, this time Lose My Breath which is another of those unlucky number 2 singles, spending four weeks there behind three different songs. There's also a re-entry for No Doubt's cover of Talk Talk's It's My Life after a one year absence, a song which has gone on to become one of the more respected cover versions of the decade as well as cementing its place as one of No Doubt's signature songs.
September 6, 201113 yr Author 114 - 37 (39-59-31-33-37-114) UK #1 113 - 116 Mariah Carey 'We Belong Together' (96-34-32-37-116-113) UK #2 0habxsuXW4g&ob I'm running out of things to say about falling Sugababes songs.... This time it's Hole In The Head which was the third number one for the group and lead single off their third album. We Belong Together is generally regarded as Mariah Carey's best song, or certainly one of, and it climbs three places this year to continue its ever present top 200 run.
September 6, 201113 yr Author 112 - 12 (12-112) UK #16 111 - 21 Amy Winehouse 'Rehab' (49-15-20-21-111) UK #7 KUmZp8pR1uc&ob Ok so I told an untruth earlier and there are actually two more songs which fall 100 places or more, with MGMT's Kids being the first falling exactly 100 places from last years 12. It's a rather odd song, not able to make the top 200 one year, climbing all the way to 12 the next before a 100 place fall! There's also a huge fall for Amy Winehouse's Rehab. It had always been her most successful song on this game making the final every year but failed to make the play-off round this time around.
September 6, 201113 yr Right, I really need to get on with this before people think I've turned into Bre. Btw, he STILL hasn't finished the Top 200 of 2010 points system  I'm betting on Christmas coming before the top ten starts :kink: Anyway you're doing great on this :yahoo: Great to see that Tinie Tempah is as high as 123, I thought everyone here hated it. 'It's My Life' is one of their best songs - how did it only chart at 17  I have never heard 'Hoppipolla' (I have heard it's instrumental on the background of TV shows) but I imagine I won't like it because I love Chicane's version of it so much   I don't approve of the MGMT drop  Whilst 12 is way too high it doesn't deserve to miss the top 100 - it's a deserved future radio classic  If only "Walking On A Dream" by Empire Of The Sun had similar success in the UK, I much prefer it to "We Are The People" :( Edited September 6, 201113 yr by danielXF
September 6, 201113 yr Author 110 - 147 Girls Aloud 'Love Machine' (120-X-52-X-147-110) UK #2 5EGxTvkAqhE 109 - 73 (46-73-109) UK #3 Two acts here who've already had a couple of entries on the chart. First are Girls Aloud with Love Machine climbing 37 places, a good result to put it in its second highest ever position. The Killers most recent big hits continues to fall but still doing fairly well at the moment.
