57 - NE Kylie Minogue 'All the Lovers' (57) (147 points)

UK #3

Proving she can still have big hits Kylie returned last year with a song the World Cup prevented from reaching the top spot as it peaked at #3. It was a song that managed to appeal to many, retaining elements of most of her classics but is also a but more classy than a lot of her material can be.

Another 2001 song which exits the competition by peaking, with it getting 10 places higher than it did three years ago. It's had an inconsistent run but all of their songs climbed this year, and Beyonce has three solo efforts in the final too. This was the second and final number one as a group, but they still had decent success for three more years after it.

Perhaps proving the theory that recent does best correct, Hollywood is the 7th highest song from 2010 in this countdown. Chart performance wise she's only had modest success, but has always been liked a lot more by the BuzzJack faithful, with her album 'The Family Jewels' one of the sites favourites of last year. Her comeback is to be released in the coming weeks and is a lot more poppy than previous material, not that it wasn't poppy before, but she's very much moved into the territory of stuff that's at the top of the chart, we shall see whether it's a successful move for her. Personally I hope it isn't as Radioactive is weaker than anything off a patchy debut album IMO.

UK #2

A huge success here, as Trick Me re-enters after a three year absence and reaches a position 120 places higher than it's gone before. I'm not entirely sure what's caused this to climb so much in the past year, maybe it's that she's had material out in the last year which has caused people to revisit earlier stuff? Either way this is the first time she's ever had a song inside the top 100, so well done! :D

I thought it débuted at #4 when the two World Cup songs were in the top 2? Example overtook her at the end of the week and would have been no. 1 had it not been for the football.

It moved up to #3 on the next week. (why can I remember that off the top of my head?)

Trick Me had never been in the final before? Well, about time. Excellent tracks at this end, pretty much all of them.

Its a shame "All the lovers" wasnt a lot higher

You'll be even more disappointed now then..... :(

So yes, after always being a stalwart of Record of the Decade past along with Britney's Toxic Kylie's huge hit Can't Get You Out Of My Head bows out of the competition with an almighty fall. Not as big as falls gone by but for a song which has spent each of the last five years in the best dozen songs of the decade, being in the top 3 three times, it's a huge and disappointing fall. I suppose you can take some comfort in it still being the best ranked song of 2001 though.

If im right, it climbed because of the physical

I actually would would have liked "All the lovers" to be higher. I love 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' but I can take or leave it these days becuase of it being very overplayed over the years.

52 - NE M.I.A. 'Paper Planes' (52) (182 points)

Originally released at the beginning of 2008 this song made very little impact commercially, mainly down to a lack of support, although I'm not sure why something this good would ever lack support. But appearing in Pineapple Express and then Slumdog Millionaire was what the song needed and by September the song had finally charted before going on to spend over half a year in the chart and becoming by far M.I.A.'s biggest ever hit in the process. The song failed to enter the top 200 in the two previous years of eligibility but is the third highest new entry which was not a 2010 song.

Two years ago Beyonce was one of the biggest artists in the country, she had smash hit after smash hit, this was the third single off its parent album and it spent over half a year in the charts and was a radio staple. Beyonce was one of four acts to have five entries in the final but this was one of only two that were just her.

Wow at that fall for CGYOOMH :o Don't care overmuch as I've always found it overrated, All The Lovers is glorious though, nice debut for it and hopefully it will go down as a classic and climb in future years!
. If I remember correctly this was a midweek number one and got hoards of online GA fans excited but was beaten in the end by Fedde Le Grande and Bodyrox? If that's right I'm officially a sad geek. :(

Sadly SKO was never a midweek No 1 though it started off both weeks that it ended at No 3 at No 2 on the first midweek flashes- if that makes sense- guess that makes me the geek

I agree that Can't Get You Out Of My Head is overrated so no complaints about its huge fall here. Always found the beat of the track generally dull. IMO Come Into My World was CGYOOMH done right - that one was dreamy! And All The Lovers is gorgeous (shame the rest of the album was a slip into boring Kylie again).

Poor Just Dance. I prefer it to Poker Face (and I guess that will be the top early Gaga song [again?]) but I'm glad Paparazzi has overtaken it at least as my personal favourite from The Fame as soon as I first heard the album.

Go Trick Me!! :D I don't know why everyone has suddenly remembered its brilliance this year either but I'm very glad this got the revival and not the overrated Milkshake (the worst single Kelis ever released!).

LOL at Arcade Fire! :o I love it when the indie fans take over these games and send one track soaring up the table. It's a brilliant song anyway and well deserved. I must have played it like a thousand times since it was released and it still hasn't lost any of its power to these ears

If im right, it climbed because of the physical

Correct, it dropped to #6 behind Eminem and Katy Perry before climbing up behind the former and "Airplanes" to sit at #3/ So without the World Cup, is run would have started 2-4-3.

Kylie fans have retired. :o :(

50 - 45 Little Boots 'Remedy' (45-50) (191 points)

UK #6

If Marina was far more popular on here than she is with the public in general, then this girl takes it to a whole new level! In 2008 various hype tracks had got the BuzzJack masses foaming at the mouth and she'd even appealed to more than your typical BuzzJack pop fan. By the beginning of the year she was the BBC's Sound of 2009, what on earth could go wrong for her? Well anything that could pretty much did. A badly handled campaign full of mis-management coupled with a weak debut single which sounded too far removed from the electropop she'd gained so many fans with, and the fact that her album included far too much filler to along with the tracks everyone had known for a year all helped her downfall. She did managed to get a second hit though, with Remedy being released before the album. It was exactly the song she should've introduced herself to the masses with. This however was the last we heard from her as the superb Earthquake completely bombed. I'm pleasantly surprised this didn't fall further than 5 places.
