I actually really like the SD track :o Of course it's no Karma Karma but it's a great song, and very Eurovision. I shan't get too excited though, after Sarah Burgess didn't win the selection last year :(

The French-speaking broadcaster has announced its shortlist of 11 (from which 3 will be chosen for the final):

Romanz (Centurion, South Africa)

Cabry (Euseigne, Switzerland)

Loic Schumacher (Verviers, Belgium)

Sosofluo (Cheseaux, Switzerland)

D.Smith (Geneve, Switzerland)

ADN 2.0 (Reconvilier, Switzerland)

Lynda Craft (Minsk, Belarus/Geneva, Switzerland)

Mael (La Louviere, Belgium)

Stefan Lebrot (Stockholm, Sweden)

Sinplus (Losone, Switzerland)

Cindy Jaquet (Morges, Switzerland)

So Ultra Naté, Maria Lawson, Heinz Winckler etc didn't appeal to the French organisers :( hopefully the German speakers will like them more!

But surely the French speaking broadcaster is picking from a different crop altogether? Or did Ultra Naté etc submit to them as well as the internet selection?

It was a different address to send it to for that one but most of the artists they've picked are also in the German online selection, and the artists I've been working with did submit to both :(

How come the Italians don't get to pick? That's just unfair. Obviously they'd just choose anything in Italian but yeah.

They do. The German speaking TV channel will internally select 3 songs, the French speaking one will internally select 3 and the Italian channel picks 2. Then 6 slots go to songs from the internet selection, making 14 songs in the final altogether.

I love the Same Difference track  I might try and vote, is it possible from the UK?

Yep it's open to anyone, the instructions are in the link above your post :) the most important thing to do is to just write 0000 in the post code bit as Swiss postcodes are just made up of 4 numbers so it won't recognise a UK one, other than that just do as normal

Voted!! I'm guessing there's like a 1% chance of SD going through though! I'm not sure how the Swiss process works - from what I know two broadcasters choose a few each and then online voting chooses a few, then they all go into either a big final or semis?

The Italian TV channel chooses 2 songs, the French TV channel chooses 3 songs, the German radio station chooses 3 songs, and the German TV channel chooses 6 songs, which is the online voting. These 14 songs all compete in one national final.

LYS ASSIA HAS QUALIFIED! The other 5 songs from the internet voting will be announced in the coming days.

The national final in Switzerland kicks off tomorrow! :w00t:
Excite! Not that I'll be watching (will be out with friends prolly) but the Eurovision season is here :w00t:
Honestly the only song that stands out is "Black Symphony" by Atomic Angels. The rest...forget it. I hope that Lys Assia doesn't get chosen but I fear it's hers :(

And we have our first entry!

Neither terrible or good on first listen.

The ESCToday review of the NF was favourable to this though, calling it the hot favourite and saying the vocals and performance were of very good quality.

That's the one I added to my favorites on Youtube ages ago! I quite like it!

Thought Lys Assia might take it :o

Sounds ok on first listen, like something Turkey might send and come top five with but Switzerland might just about make the final with it...

Sounds decent. Melodically it's quite 80s. Could really go either way though.
Decent entry but I am gutted for Lys Assia, especially after she put in an unexpectedly good vocal too. :( Turns out she wasn't anywhere close to taking the title, coming 8th out of 14.
