Robbie Williams to join Gary Barlow on The X Factor 2012

X Factor boss Simon Cowell is reportedly planning on bringing in Robbie Williams to join Gary Barlow on The X Factor next year. According to Reveal magazine, Simon wants to play on the Take That stars’ rivalry in a bid to boost ratings.

Insiders have claimed that the music mogul also hopes that the move will encourage Gary to stay on the series, after hinting that he was going to quit after only one year on the panel.

Gary previously admitted: “I’m taking some time off next year to remind myself who my children are. Next year doesn’t even feel like it’s approaching.”

Big changes are set for the new series after this year’s show lost over 4 million viewers in just 12 months, with the new look panel being blamed for the decline in ratings.

“Simon has even discussed the possibility of getting Robbie Williams as a judge, playing on old tensions between Robbie and Gary to move forward in terms of the male judges,” an insider claimed.

The source added: “These are the desperate measures to try and save the show.”

Applications for The X Factor 2012 are currently open, with auditions starting in the Spring.

CHERYL Cole is back on The X Factor.

The secret plans were hatched by judge Gary Barlow — behind Simon Cowell’s back.

The sensational return of Chezza, 29 — a judge herself until her failed switch to the US version last year — will see her help Gary mentor acts in later rounds.

And The Sun can reveal it was all orchestrated by keeping supremo Cowell, 52, in the dark — following the Geordie babe’s simmering feud with him for axing her in America.

The pair have since patched things up — but Barlow, 41, still kept her return to the show so top secret even his chums on the judging panel will be amazed by our revelation today.

He deliberately fooled them into believing fellow Take That legend Robbie Williams was the one he had recruited for the judges’ houses stage of the talent contest — which for him is at a stately home in Northants.

Last night an X Factor source confirmed: “Only Gary’s intimate inner circle know. He hasn’t even discussed it with Simon or ITV bosses. It’s been seriously top secret stuff.

“They’re all under the impression it’s going to be Robbie. No one even noticed the dates for the recording clashed with Robbie’s new solo tour.”

Barlow hatched his plans over a drink with Cheryl after she sang at the Buckingham Palace concert he organised in June for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The source said: “She loved the mischief of it.”

She and Barlow will mentor the Over-25s category.

Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, 34, has the Boys category and is rumoured to be teaming up with singer Ne-yo in Dubai.

Viewers will see Girls’ mentor Tulisa Contostavlos in the Caribbean where she will be joined by Tinie Tempah.

Meanwhile, Louis Walsh, who has the Bands category, will be in Las Vegas — with Sharon Osbourne, 59.

I was actually looking forward to Gary and Robbie doing the judges houses again :( I suppose though with Gary moving his dates back after his daughter's death and Robbie's solo performances happening it wasnt going to be feasible..especially with Ayda ready to pop any day.

He'll probably do a mentoring thing on a live show and then perform on the results anyways

When is Ayda due her sprog? I thought Robbie pulled out of the Olympics closing ceremony because the birth was imminent? So how come he can now embark on a mini-tour?

I’m ONLY doing this for Gary

CHERYL COLE has given Simon Cowell a slap – by insisting that her return to The X Factor has nothing to do with him.

And TV Biz can also reveal that Robbie Williams will STILL have a major role on the show, despite being unexpectedly replaced by Chezza at the judges’ houses stage.

Cheryl let rip at Simon when he tweeted “welcome back” to her after The Sun revealed she was making a return to the ITV reality show as Gary Barlow’s sidekick.

She said: “I saw Simon’s tweet. I’m not doing this for him. I am doing this for Gary as he’s my friend and he asked me to do it.”

The bitchy response makes it clear that her long-running feud with Simon is far from over following his decision to sack her from the US version of X Factor last May.

She joined Gary at the plush Boughton House in Northamptonshire at the weekend to help him whittle down his group.

And Gary publicly thanked her for her efforts, Tweeting: “Thank you @CherylCole for all your help this weekend.

“The contestants and I loved having you there xx.” Gary had fooled bosses and fans into believing his Take That bandmate Robbie was the star joining him for the judges’ houses stage.

Instead, today we can reveal that the dad-to-be will host a masterclass for this year’s wannabes during the live audition rounds. He will also perform live on the show to plug his forthcoming solo album.

A source said: “Robbie will still have a role to play and an important one at that.

“Gary hasn’t snubbed him, quite the opposite.

“Robbie will be working with the guys during the live shows to help them work on stage presence and vocal performance.

“He had a blast on the show last year when he was Gary’s sidekick at the Los Angeles judges’ houses round and wants back in.”

Cheryl is also expected to perform on the show.

She recently released her third solo album and also needs to plug her autobiography, which comes out next month.

X Factor judge Tulisa is also set to perform.

The show returns to our screens next Saturday and Sunday.

Robbie Williams in radio rant against Cheryl Cole after X Factor snub

http://i48.tinypic.com/anmywp.jpg

Robbie Williams said Cheryl Cole was a ‘slapper’ for pinching his X Factor mentor slot.

The father-to-be said he was ‘gutted’ to have been snubbed in favour of Cheryl after being reported as one of the frontrunners for the job.

But the Let Me Entertain You singer revealed he was still in talks to appear on the show with former Take That bandmate

Gary Barlow – but only if its dwindling viewing figures recover.

‘As long as there is an X Factor, there’s going to be a Robbie Williams on the X Factor – as long as people are still watching it,’ he said.

Turning his attention to parenthood, Williams, 38, revealed he and wife Ayda, have picked a ‘semi sort of celebrity name’ for their unborn child.

‘As a celebrity couple we’re supposed to call it Aubergine or something like that aren’t we?’ he joked.

‘I do have a semi sort of celebrity name but it’s not Apple-esque. It’s a very solid old-school name. Really old-school. I think I only know one other of this name, but you’ve got to see the child before you go “Yeah, that’s her name”,’ Williams told Capital FM’s breakfast show hosts Dave Berry and Lisa Snowdon.

But after flogging pictures of wedding to a gossip mag, Williams said he will spare his offspring being subjected to flash bulbs when she finally arrives.

He said: ‘I had a dream the other night that I’d actually met her. On her onesie it said “This is not a photo opportunity” so we cancelled the Hello! pictures.’
