December 5, 201113 yr I dont think there's anything wrong with being self-indulgent if it create great work. This is actually kind of a brilliant statement thinking about it... 50 Words for Snow is totally self indulgent. And totally wonderful.
December 5, 201113 yr Poor brave Kate, left with THIS as the thread that marks her wonderful new album on Buzzjack :(
December 5, 201113 yr Perhaps you could try to improve it then, no? And I agree with Ben in so much as Tony does have a deft way of summarising things very well.

I don't think your unnecessary commentary of a bizarre 'argument' is doing much for it either? Perhaps you should let the dust settle and publish a white paper in the New Year with the lessons we've all learnt from the incident and hope it never happens again.
December 6, 201113 yr It's hardly a bizarre argument but it's doesn't add to the discussion of the album. However, it's not far off topic either.

I find the aforementioned 'unnecessary commentary' all the more unnecessary when you fail to add anything new whatsoever to the debate. Anyway, back to the album of the year.... Has anyone ventured to her website to check out the beautiful animated clips to accompany 50Wfs? Really gorgeous. Not so sure about the array of merchandise though. Christmas cards, canvas prints, mousemats and mugs. All maybe lovely if the actual artwork was worthy of reproduction which, to my eyes, it really isn't :-/
December 6, 201113 yr Russ The point. And I'll leave it at that as we may as well speak completely different languages. Jakeeeeewise, I didn't mean it to sound as blunt as it did - the comment was more about a string of posts that I had been reading of late, however I do accept there's no way you could have known that. I won't go into more detail here but maybe it's me reading more into your comments than was actually intended.

We should not waste our time getting pulled into his foolishness. Dandy* what do you mean "reading into my comments"? I was simply trying to make light of the foolishness taking over the thread. It was as blunt, silly and straightforward as ever. A bit like a HIT Jennifer Lopez record!!! NOW GAYS let's all get along and enjoy KATE

Maybe drop a bit of MDMA in there and you can? I think it'll do your crusty self a world of good boyo.

I think it'll do your crusty self a world of good boyo. I think you took the whole stash of MDMA when you came up with that pile of camp old indecipherable twaddle. Boyo. ps... half baked kiddie therapy... umm... leave it to someone who can string a sentence together, love.

December 7, 201113 yr This is actually kind of a brilliant statement thinking about it... 50 Words for Snow is totally self indulgent. And totally wonderful. ...has it done anything in the States at all?
December 8, 201113 yr I mean, in terms of independent music publications and such, it's gotten rave reviews. I'm guessing it's done decently.
December 8, 201113 yr ...has it done anything in the States at all? #82 on the Billboard chart with 15000 odd sales.
December 8, 201113 yr Mmm.... not terribly badly then. I see it's plummeted from number five to number 26 in the Uk this week. Quite a drop...
December 15, 201113 yr I think Moments of Pleasure wouldn't sound out of place if it was on this album.
December 20, 201113 yr After three weeks I can safely say that this is my favourite album from Kate since Hounds Of Love. Up there with Let England Shake as the best of the year.
December 21, 201113 yr After three weeks I can safely say that this is my favourite album from Kate since Hounds Of Love. Up there with Let England Shake as the best of the year. I kind of agree - it's definitely in her top 3 best albums. What baffles me is that it's been virtually ignored by the music press in their 'Year Best Ofs'.... it didn't feature anywhere in the Q one (I think they're pissed off Kate gave her only interview to Mojo).... it features at number 5 in the Attitude albums of the year, though.
February 17, 201213 yr Apparently one of the contestants on Mastermind is tonight answering questions about Kate Bush's life and music
