Posted August 2, 200618 yr Source: NME.com Radiohead star calls for Tony Blair's resignation Prime Minister must be 'thrown out of office', Thom Yorke says Thom Yorke has called for Tony Blair's immediate resignation. The Radiohead singer has posted on the band's official website about Blair's stance in the current political climate. "I've had enough of this", he said. "Our government sitting on the fence with the US while World War 3 appears to be breaking out in Lebanon and Northern Israel." Yorke continued: "We must throw Tony Blair out of office NOW. He does not represent the views of British people. He does not represent the views of his foreign office and officials. He does not even represent the views of those in his cabinet. He cares too much about his relationship with Bush and Murdoch. This man is not fit to be our Prime Minister." It has been widely reported that during his political trip to California, Tony Blair, who has been staying at the Mondrian hotel in LA, met Snoop Dogg on Monday night (July 31), at the hotel's Sky Bar nightclub. I must say he's totally right :(
August 2, 200618 yr And replace him with Gordon Brown who will have similar attitudes ? even if we have a general election and Cameron or Ming get in they are both pro America too and policy would be exactly the same All the party leaders are in favour of the Iraq war and the "special relationship" with America Yorke is being very simplistic, getting rid of Bliar will not change a thing
August 2, 200618 yr Author Yeah now you mention it  This is all worrying me though, this is a time when we DO need to butt in for once. -_-

August 2, 200618 yr Thom Yorke is of course totally correct in what he says, but merely changing the figurehead aint gonna do a damn thing to change the direction of the boat is it? The entire system is rotten, we need to end our "special relationship" with America (which seems to consist of the UK rolling over on its belly and taking it up the sh!tter every time America wants to wave its big dick around...) and forge more close links with Europe and actually help set the EU up as a Super-power in its own right (Christ knows it has potentially enough resources...) to economically and militarily challenge America. Perhaps forge closer relations with emerging powers such as China or India, get our troops the hell out of Iraq and Afghanistan, stop blindly supporting Israel and just leave America to go on its self-destructive path.... For this to happen, it's gonna take a hell of a lot more than getting rid of B-Liar or his cronies, it's gonna involve a complete overhaul of our political system and NONE of the three mainstream political parties has either the will or the guts to do anything remotely this radical...
August 2, 200618 yr Would it be a good start in your view to get rid of Blair then? Like I say though, what's the point? Somebody just as bad, just as corrupt will fill the gap while we still have a system dominated by middle of the road parties who follow broadly the same political agenda. We all thought in '97 how great it was to finally be rid of the Tories, the end of the Thatcher/Major era and that things would be different... Is it bollocks, different players, but still the same old bullsh!t.... <_<
August 4, 200618 yr I don't know about Yorke's resignation calls.... but I do know Harrowdown Hill is one of the most spine-tingling, brilliant, beautiful pieces of music I've heard this year...

HELL yeah!! Great stuff, and the album is pretty top as well. I am very much looking forward to the next Radiohead album proper if this is anything to go by.....

Hmmmmm I may consider a purchase then. I haven't been very fond of Radiohead's last few albums though.
