Posted August 2, 200618 yr as we all know dannii has yet to have a uk / australian number 1 singles or album, but which single do you think should have been a number 1 and also which album do you think should have given her a number 1 or do you think the music buyers are right in denying her a number 1 ???
August 2, 200618 yr I think it is so bizzare she has not yet had a number 1. To answer your question I can see why the first 2 albums did not fare to well. And they were not number 1 worthy. just top 10. "Girl" should have been her BREAKTHROUGH! "All I wanna do" would have been her first number 1, followed by "Disremembrance". Again, why could Neon Nights not be a number 1 album? "Who do you love now" and "I Begin to wonder" should have been number 1. The fact is having a number 1 is carreer changing and would make dannii's songs be more remembered. "Who do you love now" was a global hit but generally will not easily be rememered because it did not go to number 1. Who remembers a number 2 or 3? "I begin to wonder" sold more than Kylie's "slow" but the difference is "slow" went to number 1. So its what the general public WILL remember more. And thats the way of injustice in the pop world
August 2, 200618 yr Author as i have clearly said before im not a huge dannii fan so i will give my opinion as a non fan in gemneral comparing to you oxy who is a major fan I would have never though the girl album was or would be the breakthrough as for me none of the singles were that strong, all i wanna do was catchy enough but it charted where it deserved at number 4,and likwwise with the follow ups',in general for me the girl album didnt deserve huge success but did deserve a far better chart placing and sales than it got. neon nights howeve i would more in line to agree with you on,if i was to choose a dannii song that should have been number 1 i would say who do you love now,i really liked and still like the song alot, neon nights did great to chart at number 8 and i didnt expect it to fall of the chart so quickly considering all its singles went top 10,i would have expected more sales and alonger chart life. the number 2 thing you mentioned is a yes and no for me,yes a track going number 1 gives it more stand out appeal simply as in terms it was number 1,but if a song is strong and only makes number 2 of even top 5 and stay s around a while it can always be remembered for years, examples are loco motion and better the devil you know by kylie, these are both equally remembered as any of her number 1's or sometimes more than her number 1s Robbie williams angels only made number 4 but its still a hugely remembered hit today, Dannii singles of late that done well have all been dance orienntated,i think she should try and make a really strong pop song as even if it didnt make number 1 but made top 5 with steady sales it could well be remembered,
August 2, 200618 yr Kylie's non number 1's are rememebered because she has consistant success and has maintained a large fan base. She did not have large gaps inbetween releases either. Dannii will have a number 2 charting position then 2 singles later struggle to make the top 10. You see what I meen? And in my oppinion dannii needs that breakthrough number 1 so she can STAND OUT. After her first number 1, the follow up single would get more public exposure and that's were it starts. Consistancy in success. I really do think some of dannii's misses have been better than a few (just a few) of kylie's number 1's. Spinning around went to number 1, yet who do you love now didn't. That's just plain wrong. I know its all down to personal oppinion but I know what I listen to more often.
August 2, 200618 yr Author i see what you are tring to say,but for me spiining around was a deserved number 1,the only kylie number 1 that i would say didnt deserve it is tears on my pillow dannii just doesnt have that down to earth appeal that kylie has,and in some terms its hard for dannii as she has taken a different route to kylie in order not to be the same, and in that she has lost out, however dannii has made some terrible singles along the way, success baby love,i dont wanna take this pain and they hindered people's opinions of her. yes her neon night singles were far better, but i still feel if dannii is to have that breakthrough number 1 she needs a proper pop song that will stand out and not some midlle of the road forgetable dance style track that she has been doing of late, kylie in some terms lost her way over the kylie 94 album and impossible princess,in this i mean her success was dwindling and many though she was finsihed, what did she do,she returned with top noych pop music and the rest is history, dannii should try this kind of route i think
August 2, 200618 yr Nothing about Girl or Neon Nights was average or unforgettable dance pop songs. I strongly dissagree. And I think its unfair. I love Kylie. Have been a fan from the begining but I over the years have taken a strong likeing to Dannii also. and I think its frustrating she can't break through when she has released some top notch anthemic songs. Yet Kylie can release practicly anything and be guarenteed success. I understand there is more to a pop star than just their music and dannii has many factors against her that kylie does not have. like public image, promotion, consistancy. But at the end of the day a song is a song. Slow makes me want to fall asleep. Spinning Around for for a comeback song is pretty average and I begin to wonder is electro heaven and who do you love now is an anthem yet they never quite made it. Its just wrong Edited August 2, 200618 yr by Ozx
August 2, 200618 yr Author i can see your point on slow, personnelly i love it but i dont think it will be a song remembered in years down the raod, again kylie doesnt get away with just releasing anyting and having success some kind of bliss breathe did it again where is the feeling ? they performed poorly so agin itd down to making the right next move, which dannii isnt consistent with as you said, dont get me worng i know exactly what you are saying, but i think as you said yourself dannii;s main problem is consistency, too long of a gap in follow ups and that has been happening for years, maybe thats more her record companies fault than hers but its her that has suffered beacuse of it, As i said im not a huge fan but dannii is better tahm some of the females of have been more successfull than her, lily allen, britney, jessica'ashlee simpson etc when i say about dance music i meant that more general tahn just dannii, personnelly i think dance style songs are great at the time but date very very quickly where pop can stand the test of time longer,i know in the past i have loved some dance msic but when i listen to it now i think of thats so 1997 kinda thing where pop can just keep going asi mention consistency earlier, the current siuation shows its a probelm again, the hits album is out,so under pressure hasnt performed well and still no sign of another single, again a new single should be out soon and promote it well and the album might sell again
August 2, 200618 yr Author hey ozx im heading of for a while im taking my little girl out for a while,i will be back online tonight if you are around and w can discuss this topic more
August 2, 200618 yr I do think it is down to what kind of record deal she has. Like Neon Nights for example where london gave her decent budgets for videos. Her songs got airplay and were all A & B listed on radio 1 and there was not a saturday she was not on childrens TV performing. But at the same time she was being played in the clubs and combined club and pop music to and made a really commerical blend of clubculture. That's why the singles sold generally well. She found her niche in the industry! Plus the singles were released fairly consistantly. Who do you love now opend doors for her/ Despite not being number 1. It was a global smash. Even in the UK, Its chart run is very impressive. If she just stayed with London! She ruined her carreer this time round.
August 2, 200618 yr Author i agree about who do you love now and london records, why did she leave london records though ?
August 2, 200618 yr basically they were going through financial troubles and said they could not release another album till mid 2006. so she left. Even though she began recording new tracks for a second album with them. The irony is, she still ended up releasing a follow up to Neon Nights in 2006 anyway with AATW. She screwed up her blossoming carreer. Neon Nights was a stepping stone, a second album in the style with Neon Nights would have done so much better. She established a sound and image. Something she is not doing with AATW. Instead she has been reduced to "faceless dance music" which is what AATW are all about. lol its funny. I hate repeating myself but I always end up bringing the same stuff over and over myself. anyway. lol
August 2, 200618 yr She's had a lot of potential singles to be No.1, and her album "Neon Nights" was good enough to give her a chart-topper on the UK Album Chart. My favourite singles for UK No.1 are "Put The Needle On It", "I Begin To Wonder" and "All I Wanna Do", but the song I truly believe it deserved to be No.1 overall is "Who Do You Love Now?", my favourite Dannii song ever and a dance master-piece. It is a shame it only managed No.3 cause it deserved to be on top.
August 2, 200618 yr I LOVE Perfection ... I'm not that familiar with Dannii though, just Kylie :(
August 2, 200618 yr I think 'All I Wanna Do' is a terrific record and has not dated. I don't want to say it SHOULD have got to #1 because it's very hard to quantify what makes one song better than another. I'm certainly not qualified to do so. My opinion does not count for that much. I only have 'Hits & Beyond' but I'm sure there were better records released that week. I should have just got the few singles I was missing from iTunes.
August 2, 200618 yr I think that's what's brilliant about the "girl" album. The tracks are just as fresh now as they were then. They don't sound the least bit dated. That's good production.
August 2, 200618 yr 'I Begin To Wonder' was truly robbed. Even back then when I wasn't really into Dannii like I am now, I was in love with it at the time and think it truly deserved #1 the week it was denied. 'Neon Nights' did deserve to sell more than it did, IMO it's a truly perfect pop album and I never tire of listening to it, and what's more I can listen to it all the way through without skipping past a single track.
August 3, 200618 yr what a joke,be realistic will you for heavens sake, dannii minogue simply has not had a number 1 because she didnt sell enough records/cd's,further to this she hasnt released anything that deserves to be number 1 and if you think otherwise you are simply deluded, people get to number 1 because the general public buy the music because they like it and the truth is no one liked any of dannii's plastic enough and who can blame them to grt a number 1

I will not tollerate you calling people "deluded" for expressing an opinion, and if I see you make one more post like this, I'll give you a warning. Take note, because I won't be saying this again.
