December 20, 201113 yr Some people here trying to rake any possible negative things to them. How about this week and the day after the show.. the album just got back to top 10 even surpassed the tenth spot they've been holding throughout the midweeks and surpassing the latest boyband for this week. Have you pondered that there are a lot more positive things in this world rather than what you just stated? If my memory serves me right, this time last year 'Gravity' dropped drastically on charts unlike this album. So the show helped them. Now that's what you call FLOP? And now it's still at the top ten and even if it falls beyond that, they are still fortunate that somebody's still buying their album despite their 14 old years in the industry unlike other music artists that released a greatest hits. December 21, 201113 yr Just because Gravity flopped ridiculously and the GH is doing better than it you cant really compare. GH is by all intensive purposes a repacked Greatest Hits with 3 or 4 average songs thrown in on the end of the CD. For that reason it is obvious that the it would have okish sales over Christmas but it's sales are not good enough in the real world. That is the real reason they are disbanding. 1.6m people watching in ITV at peak time is laughable.
December 21, 201113 yr I saw parts of the show and I must admit I really liked what I think is a song called beautiful world.
December 21, 201113 yr Westlife's ITV Special on Saturday had 1.65m viewers, the lowest Saturday evening (18:00-22:00) viewing figures on ITV for the entire year! Now that's what I call a flop! Really shocked at how low that figure is. :o
December 22, 201113 yr Really shocked at how low that figure is. :o tell us will young's show's viewrs. . . also tell us will young last album sales. . . Also tell us how many no.1's will young. tell us how many times he sold out an 80k stadium. tell us whose song is will young's highest selling single. . .

Actually Will Young has the biggest selling single of this century so far.....but what I don't understand is how any of that will salvage Westlife's appauling viewing figures? Edited December 22, 201113 yr by Dasher76

Also tell us how many no.1's will young. tell us how many times he sold out an 80k stadium. tell us whose song is will young's highest selling single. . . Over 3.5 million at the end of August. Must have been mistaken but from your constant posting about Westlife's huge fanbase I was sure they'd have topped Will's show's figures. Echoes will sell far more than this current Westlife album in the long run which will sell very few in the New Year as all their albums are merely Xmas stocking fillers. Just as well they are calling it a day, there time as a covers band has thankfully finally run out.
December 22, 201113 yr ^ Indeed so. If you were to take Charis' point then surely that would only make the viewing figures EVEN MORE deplorable?
December 22, 201113 yr I'm pretty sure there was a big show on at the same time as Westlife, was it the Strictly Come dancing final results or something? Edited December 22, 201113 yr by BuzzLightyear
December 22, 201113 yr I'm pretty sure there was a big show on at the same time as Westlife, was it the Strictly Come dancing final results or something? 263rd repeat of "Dad's Army"
December 22, 201113 yr 263rd repeat of "Dad's Army" Which got more viewers! Yes it was up against SCD but SCD only got about 12m, it's not that big a juggernaut to be able to get more than a paltry 1.65 million viewers. The lowest for the ENTIRE YEAR! I don't even care about Westlife enough to dislike them but those figures are truly laughable, and completely undefendable no matter what it was up against!
December 23, 201113 yr Charis will always defend them, but now that they have split up he'll be telling us how great their solo careers will be and their massive fanbases

December 26, 201113 yr Why does it matter where Will is? Why single him out? There's plenty of other artists that aren't top 20 in the year-end chart as well...
December 26, 201113 yr There is a small chance they will finish to top 15, but we will see! There's no chance they will at all - album sales will take an almighty tumble this week, so the #1 will be lucky to sell 77k, let alone Westlife sell that AND whatever Noel Gallagher sells as well (which I daresay will be higher than what Westlife shift this week.)
December 26, 201113 yr Why does it matter where Will is? Why single him out? There's plenty of other artists that aren't top 20 in the year-end chart as well... Yes indeed. I never understand when people try to make another artist look bad by quoting sales as an argument. Its not always an indicator of quality and their are so many factors that come into play. I'm not bothered about Westlife either way but I think we can safely say their success over the years hasn't been due to their vocal ability (Unlike Will)
December 27, 201113 yr Author What is the need on this forum to constantly pit artists against eachother to prove one is better than the other? It's all just personal opinion, it's pop music at the end of the day, you can enjoy what you want, it's not right or wrong. Ok so Will Young had bigger viewing figures, Westlife higher sales. 1-1 ding ding. match over. Can we just drop it, we'll never change eachothers opinions. I have to disagree with torresgirl though, I think Westlife are here because of their vocals. They came on the scene with like 5 ballads in a row, they wanted to be known as a vocal group and I think they are, they aren't the traditional boyband who focus on the dancing (although they give it a good bash on tour from time to time). The fact they were a boyband who sang too many covers will obviously dent any credibility and imo that's probably deserved, but when it comes to vocals Shane and Mark are extremely good, two of the strongest male singers in pop. I know it's cliche to say pop singers can't sing and especially so for pop groups, but honestly they should get a bit more credit in that department. Louis isn't lying when he say's shane never sings out of tune, I've personally never heard him buff a note up in the 14years I've watched them, mess the words up and certaintly mess the dance routines up, but not the key. Marks range is incredible too, that voice. TBH I might be wrong in saying it's a shame they'll never get the credit for their voices because it's only on music forums I see that criticised, in the media for example album or tour reviews their vocals are normally pointed out as very positive, even in negative reviews.
