As much as I'd like to think it would smash, it would be devastating to see it flop as a single.

 

With it being this late in the day (in terms of the era) I'd rather keep Gypsy as the worldwide #1 and Grammy award winning anthem THAT NEVER WAS.

 

Gypsy is (other than Gaga herself) the biggest victim in this poorly handled campaign.

 

On a happier note, I cannot wait to see/hear/feel it next Sunday!!!

The response Gypsy got at the tour was phenomenal. Yes it was

the encore

but you could see how much it meant to the fans and her. I know a lot has happened backstage but not releasing it as a single will go down as almost a big mistake as not releasing DITD. A live video could work for it as the song is basically about her touring too. PLEASE GA.

I don't really see how not releasing Dance in the Dark was a mistake? She ended the era on a huge high with three massive hits. It wouldn't have been anywhere near as big as Alejandro so what damage was done?

So is she releasing Gypsy in the end?

A fan on Gagadaily who was backstage at the Birmingham show said:

Agreed. It could have held up against Roar, if not exactly beaten it, but it wouldn't have been on less than half Roar's sales.

 

That disastrous fist single decision, which, as we guessed BEFORE RELEASE or hearing it, would be seen as her being pretentious and self-congratulatory, just started this whole mess. No one could relate to it unlike Roar.

 

Don't worry Kath, the Christmas surprise is gonna be Brooklyn Nights to save her career and slay lives! :D

 

 

OMG better!!

Being able to "relate" to a song lyrically rarely if ever has a bearing on its success. People just want to hear catchy songs on the radio, they don't give a shit about lyrics. Applause is a great song, great lead single, as evidenced by its longevity on the Hot 100. Gypsy might have done well too but probably no better. A lot of people just aren't here for Gaga right now.
