Posted October 21, 201113 yr http://www.serienjunkies.de/news/big/s/suburgatory-review-der-pilotepisode-34871_big.jpg Here we go. This obviously has quite a nice little following already. It has a full season pickup too :D Not quite the funniest new show of the season but lovely and sunny and it doesn't require too much thought. Plus you can't really go wrong with Mean Girls meets Easy A meets Desperate Housewives.
October 21, 201113 yr It does have a full season pickup, got it at the same time as Revenge did. Anyway, I've seen the first episode and it seemed OK, at least better than dirge like Happy Endings. Might give the next couple of episodes a go since it's been getting a lot of love.
October 21, 201113 yr Author INDEED IT DOES. Silly me. And I would say it improves considerably by the third episode.
October 21, 201113 yr 08 Episode 1 09 Episode 2 08 Episode 3 10 Episode 4 Overall it's really very good indeed. I haven't watched any of the other 'comedies' of the new season, but they'd be hard pushed to beat this for hilarity levels.
October 21, 201113 yr Author New Girl and Up All Night are great. A recurring theme of the new comedies seems to be that they're (-A) fronted by women and (-B) not necessarily laugh out loud funny but constantly put a smile on your face through being likable. I like that.
October 21, 201113 yr I definitely think Suburgatory is laugh out loud funny quite a lot of the time, as I said elsewhere it's brought me to tears of laughter about 10 times across the 4 episodes.
October 28, 201113 yr Author The Hallowe'en ep was all kinds of FAB. Dallas and George have so much chemistry it's REDONK.
October 28, 201113 yr I thought it was the least good episode so far, I won't say bad because it was still verging on being an 8/10, the scenes with George/Dallas/Husband were very good, but the whole Misty thing fell a bit flat for me. And NO SHEILA is simply NOT ON.
October 28, 201113 yr I thought it was the least good episode so far, I won't say bad because it was still verging on being an 8/10, the scenes with George/Dallas/Husband were very good, but the whole Misty thing fell a bit flat for me. And NO SHEILA is simply NOT ON. Spot on!
October 28, 201113 yr Author I thought the scene with Tessa trotting into school as Misty in the blue velour jumpsuit was possibly the funniest of the episode! Also I didn't really miss Sheila (much as I love her) because we got lots of Lisa and she's probably my overall favourite now. "Cut the CRAP, Misty, you little BITCH, and go back to hell where you BELONG!" I loved how surreal the whole thing was, it felt like one of the (old, good) Hallowe'en Simpsons episodes. I imagine Sheila will be a main cast member next season but she's only a guest for now which means she won't be in every one. I think as long as there's lots of Dallas OR lots of Sheila it's guaranteed laughs. I really do love this show now.
October 29, 201113 yr starting to get into this show, its not amazing, but definitly watchable, and has its funny moments Fun fact, it is created by the person who created As told by Ginger (great old Nick show)
October 29, 201113 yr I think the episodes have slowly been declining in quality, except the Halloween episode, which bucked the trend slightly. The funniest bits of the show are easily the bits with Dallas or George.
November 3, 201113 yr Author GOOD NEWS. Sheila Shay’s not going anywhere on Suburgatory: EW has learned exclusively that Ana Gasteyer has joined the ABC comedy as a series regular. Gasteyer plays the roast-making, cardigan-wearing alpha mom neighbor to George (Jeremy Sisto) and Tessa (Jane Levy). Her deal to stay on the show just closed yesterday. “I screamed and jumped for joy and then went right to the table read,” the actress told EW. “Sheila is a well-intended nightmare. That’s what is incredibly fun about it. She is coming from place of wanting to do it all well. She has a strong sense of propriety and she’s an excellent ally. There are episodes coming up where she’s got good intentions but they are misdirected.” Such as? “George get very badly injured, and she gets very involved in his recuperation,” Gasteyer teases. :D
November 3, 201113 yr ''Oh George I would add you to my dental plan, but I can't... So I brought you a double Belgian waffle maker'' Took a little while to get going this week, but when it did it was on form. The second half was largely hilarious. Gladys was amazing of course.
November 3, 201113 yr This episode was HILARIOUS. I just loved Chatwin High School's First Semi Annual Florida Clarisonic Face Brush Fundraiser.
