Posted November 2, 201113 yr With Lucenzo & Qwote's "Dançar kuduro" set to be the next song partially sung in Portuguese to hit the UK chart, time to remind other songs with lyrics in my mother tongue. Bellini - Samba de Janeiro (#8, 1997) Bonde do Rolé - Office boy (#75, 2007) Kaoma - Lambada (#4, 1989) Kaoma - Dançando lambada (#62, 1989) Nelly Furtado - Força (#40, 2004) Pet Shop Boys - Se a vida é (That's the way life is) (#8, 1996) Sergio Mendes & Black Eyed Peas - Mas que nada (#6, 2006) ...are there any more?
November 2, 201113 yr I thought Danza Kuduro was in Spanish? My favourite song of the 00s was sung entirely in Portuguese. It's by Bonde Do Rolê, but it's Solta O Frango rather than Office Boy. Shame that never charted. It was even on an advert for something. Edited November 2, 201113 yr by Bré

November 3, 201113 yr I love you - Mariza is amazing! Makes me proud to be Portuguese when people talk about the world's best singers..... it's bizarre she's never namechecked. Absolutely incredible artist - a voice that can move me to tears with its beauty. Portugal has one of the richest and most interesting music scenes and heritages in the world. From Fado to techno, realy - you really kow how to do it well. Stunning country, too.... Sintra, Cascais, Lisbon.... oh my.....

Chilli ft Carrapicho - Tic Tic Tac. It kinda flopped in the UK, no loss really. I can't stand this version, the original without Chili is way better. Portuguese hits are hard to find, they usually do much better in continental europe though, like France. Its also usually brazilian portuguese that does better, Força and Danza Kuduro/Vem Dançar Kuduro aside.
