After the release of 'Loud', I mentioned how brilliant a Rihanna Greatest Hits would be. Then she comes along with a new album and another cracking pop single. Rihanna really is setting herself up nicely as the new Madonna. Move over Lady GaGa!!! :o Also if the video is anything to go off, it shouldn't be too long before we see Rihanna making her acting debut. :D

 

03 05 COLDPLAY Paradise (8wks: 20-7-7-17-20-10-5-3)

 

This has been a real steady Eddie in my chart progressing up the top 40 until last week when it fell 04-07 but I still think there's plenty of chart life in this track.

 

04 03 GYM CLASS HEROES Feat. Adam LEVINE Stereo Hearts (8wks: 29-23-16-7-2-2-3-4)

 

Liked it but got bored of it fairly quickly. Doesn't compare to 'Billionaire' which I really liked despite the song being hidiously Americanized. :lol:

 

06 07 Lana DEL REY Video Games (4wks: 47-16-7-6)

 

Excellent to see this slowly climbing up your chart. I would love to see this make the iTunes top 10 and possibly achieve a new peak in the UK charts. Only time will tell...

 

07 04 MAROON5 Feat. Christina AGUILERA Moves Like Jagger (14wks: 27-10-4-3-1-1-2-3-1-1-1-4-7)

 

The staying power of this song has been phenomenal. :o Eight weeks stalling at no. 2 but outsold 7 of those weeks by a different #1 which is abysmal for the UK charts. Thank God for Rihanna coming along and actually spending a couple weeks at the top.

 

08 09 Sak NOEL Loca People (13wks: 59-48-34-15-14-6-2-2-6-6-9-8)

 

So trashy but that's what makes this song for me. I can understand why people would hate a track like this. For me, it's a song I wasn't sure of on first listen (although my first listen must've been 5 months ago). Honestly would never have expected this to end up going to no. 1 in the UK.

 

11 14 Olly MURS Dance With Me Tonight (4wks: 29-29-14-11)

 

I can see this providing Olly with his third UK #1 as The X Factor has really helped boost his profile. Personally, I think it's on par with 'HSAB'. I did prefer most of his singles from album #1 more but it's great to see a former X Factor contestant doing well and showing signs of actual longevity.

 

12 12 Ed SHEERAN The A Team (7wks: 14-10-12-12-15-12)

 

7 weeks? :o This has left my chart now but spend 18 weeks in my top 40. How come it entered your chart so late?

 

17 06 David GUETTA Feat. USHER Without You (8wks: 37-28-29-24-10-5-6-17)

 

As I've mentioned before, this would be another great Guetta track if Usher didn't use those OTT vocal gymnastics in the song. If he sang the song "plain" then I reckon I'd possibly like this song even more.

 

19 30 Will YOUNG Come On (4wks: 39-36-30-19)

 

New at #1 in my pre-release chart so the signs are looking promising. It might not be a future #1 in my chart but it's definitely a top 5 contender.

 

20 XX Patrick WOLF Together HIGHEST NEW ENTRY

 

The Cherry Bakewell mix no doubt? How very Dandy* :D

 

22 25 Matt CARDLE Starlight (2wks: 25-22)

 

This is actually a decent single and it surprises me that Sycowell didn't think a song like this could launch Matt Cardle's career. As much as I like 'Run For Your Life', it would've been more interesting to see how this could fare. I just hope Matt hasn't been cursed by the "first post-X Factor single not going to #1" reputation.

Of course knowing her, she will be done with the album by March, and the GH will be out in time for summer, though I think there might be a deluxe Talk That Talk, to hold it over until Christmas :lol: Madonna is clearly running scared given the Minaj and MIA collabs on her new single...

 

03. Yes, I can see them sticking around a while, great song :wub: Have you heard the Fedde Le Grand remix?

 

04. I HATED Billionaire :lol: I think this is somewhat riding Moves Like Jagger's coattails in my chart, much like Rizzle Kicks - Down With The Trumpets did with Olly (peaking at #15, though as you'll see When I Was A Youngster charted this week).

 

06. Yeah, fingers crossed. I think she needs an X Factor performance or something. Rather excited for the album :w00t:

 

07. I know, it's crazy, and a bit of a dark day for the UK chart. I would say that Rihanna is the only recent #1 that really deserves it, maybe Sak Noel at a push :lol:

 

08. IKR, it's become a catchphrase with my friends now though (wat de fack!) and I heard it out clubbing the other weekend and it sounded amazing, hence the staying power in my top 10.

 

11. I'm not 100% sure. Is he getting an X Factor performance with this? It deserves #1 but what does that mean these days :lol: Personally Heart Skips A Beat is my fav single so far, and although this isn't as good, I still have high hopes for the album :)

 

12. Two words - Frankie Cocozza. NO, I'm not a fan, I'm not that crazy :kink: But he sand it on X Factor and it still sounded decent, which made me realise that it had to be an INCREDIBLE song for that to be possible :heehee:

 

17. I get what you're saying, but Usher is an R&B singer, so I can imagine that he would want to do a few runs to make it his style. If he wanted it sung straight he could have asked Adam Young or something :lol: That said, great as Sia is, I really wish they had released the Mary J Blige version of Titanium.

 

19. Cool. It's not as good as Jealousy, but it has a cute video and the mixes are good :)

 

20. Indeed :heehee: I found it weird that he re-uploaded it this week though, unless I'm going mental :lol: Great track, I have Patrick's album but it's not one I'd really noticed before.

I think it was for one of two reasons - it was either part of Gary's deal for becoming a judge, or perhaps Simon has so little faith in Matt and his other UK acts that he won't choose the best song if they wrote it. I think this song will get a LOAD of airplay, and it will probably carry the album, but I can't see it getting a #1, in fact I'd be surprised if it went top 10. Top 20 is possible I guess though, I think he will have more longevity than Joe first time out (no pun intended :kink:)

 

26. Post BJSC fatigue mostly, a BJSC song has to be REALLY special, or a current UK release, to stay in my chart more than two weeks or so after the contest. The climb this week was for the release of the excellent video (Mooooooorten :wub:)

 

28. True, see above really, plus the release of his debut UK single, even though it's nothing like as good, it's going to be released next year I think, it certainly should be.

Haha, I didn't think it was bad at all actually, quite nice infact, but then it was over a week ago and I've sent two messages since and had no response, when previously the communication had been really frequent - I think I've got the point, luckily I'm able to brush myself down and get back up again pretty easily, I've had years of no's and snubs, maybe one day I'll get a yes?

2. Cool, glad you like! The album's worth downloading, parts of it are very Scandi, in fact k-pop seems to have taken over the role of scandipop in my life lately :o I'm sure that will change when it's Eurovision season again though...
