I'm somewhat addicted to this album, it's chock full of brilliantly catchy pop songs. I could not have asked for anything more.

The singles certainly show the two extremes, the best & the worst song on the album. I was a bit disappointed at first, WMYB had set expectations too high but it would have been an hard ask to have anything else that good on the album.

 

After a few listens though I'm really enjoying it. 'Taken' is my favourite ballad, it reminds me of 'Skyscraper' (anyone else see this at all or am I going crazy?) I really like the dancey feel of 'Stole My Heart' even though it's not the catchiest at the minute. 'I Want' is my favourite aside from WMYB right now, it's repetitive but that makes it so catchy.

Looking at the credits now, surprise surprise, 'Taken' is produced by the same person as 'Skyscraper', knew I wasn't making it up that they sound similar. The RedOne track 'Save You Tonight' hasn't really stood out so far. No surprise that 'I Want' is my favourite, written & produced by Tom Fletcher and I've always been a big McFly fan. The three they all have writing credits on (More Than This, Taken, Stole My Heart) all range from decent to very good so that's a nice surprise, didn't expect them to be great writers.

I've just listened to the bonus tracks, Moments is really quite good, Stand Up not so much.

Totally, thats exactly what I thought when I first heard it, it is slightly more upbeat but the melody is so similar.

I am loving this album now, and I completely agree, 'Gotta Be You' is by far the worst thing on it and I have no clue why it was chosen as a single. The vocals are actually very strong aswell as a whole.

'I Want' revealed as the third single. Strange and stupid choice IMO, one of the weakest tracks, I have no clue what they are playing at with their last two single choices, concidering how strong this album is.

2nd single maybe shoulda been More than this, it's a strong track. It's sounds like the autotune machine singing Take That's Babe in the style of Backstreet boys, but for some reason it's quality! :D

 

3rd single Stole my heart, trance songs seem to be massive atm, good track although the chorus is a bit childish.

This album is ridiculously boring. Shouty boring mess. The only vaguely exciting song is the rather lush Stole My Heart but it's so not worth sitting through eleven mediocre faux-pop-rock tracks (all of whose riffs/choruses are shamelessly stolen from other, better songs in the first place) to get to.

The album's great! Derivative as HELL of course, but still fantastic fun. Releasing Gotta Be You is such a bizarre move off the back of it all though, it genuinely IS the worst track on the album - and indeed the only outright bad one on there I'd say.

One Thing isn't a bad choice for next single, but it's far from the best either. WMYB was the perfect lead single, but they've not made thr right choices since then.

They're definitely the best songs, but I don't think another ballad would be the best option. :)

 

Speaking of Taken, does it remind anyone else of If I Were A Boy?

'Taken' would be the ballad choice for me but I don't think we want another ballad just yet (if they'll actually get a fourth single, neither JLS or TW seem to). 'One Thing' is OK but I prefer 'I Want' personally.

 

I've listened to 'Another World' a lot recently and not only is it better than GBY but I think it's better than a few album tracks, they should've put it on the album. Hope they still perform it on tour.

Yeah they're both Toby Gad produced. I can see the similarities but it makes me think of 'Skyscraper' a lot more.

Having heard some of the album - cant believe they thought GBY would be a good choice for a 2nd single - its just so poor.

Oh, I heard 'I Want' on Radio 1 the other day and was claimed to be an 'exclusive' so jumped to the conclusion that it was the new single. Glad it isn't though, I far prefer One Thing.

I just heard 'One Thing' and it's pretty much 'What Makes You Beautiful' with hints of P!nk's 'Raise Your Glass'. :lol:

 

Very catchy though, just as their debut single was.

It's a total Raise Your Glass STEAL. They need to release Stole My Heart already even though it's basically a Liam solo.
