Posted November 7, 201113 yr From http://www.music-news.com/shownews.asp?H=U...p;nItemID=45561 U2 recording with RedOne U2 have recorded some 'amazing' tracks with RedOne. The Irish rockers have no plans to put out a new record in the near future. :arrr: They have been working on songs though and have laid down tracks for three albums. They are keen to go in a new direction, so have enlisted the help of producer RedOne. The producer has previously worked with Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull. 'We have yes. We've done some amazing work with RedOne. it's shocking. I just played the tracks to Michael Stipe. He was like, 'What?!' It doesn't sound like U2,' Bono enthused. Bassist Adam Clayton is also excited about the songs. He explained the band initially thought their new work would be like 2009′s No Line on the Horizon but they've now gone in another direction. 'At first we went into this record with a bit of a sketchpad mentality,' he explained to Q magazine. 'We thought there was more material left over from No Line. We now feel a long way from that material. We don't want to go back there. we experimented on working with redone ' and some very good pop songs and club-y things came out of that.'
November 19, 201113 yr  Typical, we could be waiting a long time. Gone were the days where new albums were out every other year, seems to happen alot with the groups/artists I like.
November 30, 201113 yr U2 were back in town yesterday to record part of the band’s newest studio album at their Hanover Quay studio. U2 frontman Bono was spotted signing autographs for fans outside the band’s Dublin studio, where many of their best-selling albums were recorded after the band bought the studios in the early 1990s. He even took time to pose next to some of the graffiti left on the studio walls by fans of the band. Among the excited fans waiting outside the band’s studio yesterday was Gary Paul from Parkwest, Co Dublin, who asked Bono to sign his miniature ‘Achtung Baby’ Trabant car, which had been earlier signed by The Edge. He later attended the opening of an exhibition of art by his niece, Leah Hewson, at the KTcontemporary gallery in Donnybrook. Leah graduated last year from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Design, Art, and Technology. Her new exhibition, ‘What’s behind the Magic Door?’, uses multimedia to explore the importance of preserving imagination. Source: The Irish Independent

Bassist Adam Clayton appeared on Irish radio predominantly to talk up his campaign to raise awareness of Irish suicide rates in young adults (read more about that here). However, he also let slip that the band were laying down a new record: "We are working on the next album," he reportedly said. "According to Bono, it may be published tomorrow but I think it will take a little longer." Earlier reports had it that U2 were recording with Gnarls Barkley star and Black Keys producer Danger Mouse, although it's unclear if these sessions will appear on the as-yet untitled new album.
