Unchained Melody is one of Simon Cowell's favourite Songs. That's why

he promoted the Robson & Jerome version, got Gareth Gates to cover it,

got Il Divo to cover it, & now gets Susan Boyle to cover it. To me, that says

it all, about Simon's imagination - he has none.

 

1) RIHANNA (Back at No.1 in the Singles Chart)

 

She becomes only the 2nd Solo Female to have 20, (or more),

Weeks at No.1, in the Singles Chart. If one wants to be pedantic,

we could say that she was not alone on 4 of her 6 No.1 Hits.

Just as Madonna was with Justin Timberlake, on one of her 13

No.1's - 4 Minutes (4 Weeks - 2008). In which case, we can say

that Madonna, & Rihanna are the only 2 credited Females with

20, (or more), Singles Weeks at No.1.

Unchained Melody is a great song. However, it is not an easy song. That's why I think it should only ever be attempted by an act that can at least come close to emulating the Righteous Brothers' version. I thought El Divo might have been OK but I've just listened to their version and it is dire.
