I have to say I really hate this direction they're taking Viv in. She was so spiteful to Bob when she ended it and now it's like she thinks she's entitled to him and can't understand why he doesn't want to go back to her. Robbing the money from the till herself is beyond ridiculous.

But I like the Jackson storyline (obviously) - Hazel is being given the chance to shine lately - and especially the Chas revenge story. Also Debbie's back tomorrow. :D

Ya the handking of viv is wrong and very out of charactor but i agree with what you say about hazel. Im not a debiie fan i dont think she has ever added much to the show so i would have been just as happy if she stayed away.
I really like Ella. She could be quite a formidable bitch I reckon although apparently it's going to be jolly stuff in Home Farm for a while now.

I doubt they're 'copying' anyone. Fires are like the #1 stunt in soapland and this storyline would've been planned a good six months ago when they wouldn't even have known about the Hollyoaks fire.

It sounds good. I'm guessing

the first life lost is Viv, since she's leaving, and the second another of the deadwood... Terry or Brenda perhaps? Or Gennie, but that would be a shame.

Oh my God.

Gavin Blyth, the show's exec producer, died this week 'after a short period of ill health'. He was 41. He's the guy who turned the show around from his takeover at the start of 2009, introduced the Sharmas, the Bartons and brought back Charity and Cain, and helmed the Aaron's sexuality and evil Sally Spode storylines.

RIP.

A few thoughts on the last couple of weeks of Emmerdale...

The Holly the heroin addict storyline has suddenly become genuinely fantastic. Last week John really raised his game which was much needed after he spent so long being unbelievably blind to what Moira was doing. Holly is actually decent as a totally repulsive mess as well and some of the recent stuff has been as harrowing as anything I've seen in a soap.

The Maceys are a lovely little family set-up. Mia is instantly likeable and Declan now that the Natasha almost-romance is over and he's not being given THE SAME LINES every episode is really shining but for me the star is Ella. She RADIATES fabulosity. She's like sort some crazy hybrid of ice statuette and lady of the manor with a biting wit thrown in for good measure. It's early days but potentially she might even top Queen Natasha! (!!)

A couple of negatives too though. The Viv/Bob storyline is truly dire. I know Viv is

a goner soon, probably in the big New Year fire

but she doesn't deserve this awful storyline which is portraying her in the most horribly desperate light. Bob is utterly pathetic too. The whole story is a total write-off.

Also Jackson being an arsehole is already getting very irritating and I'm still not completely sold on Paddy/Rhona - the stuff with Marlon and the baby is VERY angsty indeed - although it's giving us some nice comedy stuff too, especially with Pearl.

I agree on some points

John in particluar has made the drug storyline interesting, up until his recent scenes i wasnt enjoying the storyline.

The Rhona, Paddy, Marlon stuff im not sold on at all and i want them all to go away.

Yes Viv should be getting a far better storyline as weak is not a word that goes with charactor.

I have to say im loving the jackson stuff and im glad the focus is on him and not aaron for a change, and hazel i brilliant.

I must also add im lovin the chas revenge storyline its interesting and funny.

I like Decland and his daughter but not so sure on his wife.

One more thing I forgot to say was that Nikhil is a much improved character lately. I think it was just that awful virginity storyline that was dragging him down prior to know. He has real chemistry with Maisie as well. Such a shame she has to go.

It was amazing. Although I personally thought the new year's eve episode was just as good, I loved the sense of community and everybody embarassing themselves with their drunken karaoke.

The list of potential victims for the fire next week is OUT:

Betty

Brenda

Chas

Gennie

Katie

Terry

Viv

Viv is surely a CERT and I reckon the other death (since there are two) is Terry.

I had really got into emerdale over the last 2-3 months of 2010 but im starting to go off it again,is anyone else finding the same, the eric and val storyline is doing nothing for me and their lodger cant remember her name annoys me and im not getting why she is even in the show. Th declan and his wife storyline is also doing nothing at all for me.

Im looking forward to kellys return and the upcoming fire storyline.

I actually thought October and November were pretty weak for Emmerdale with no big storylines running until Chas' revenge started picking up pace, and now I think it's in fine fettle again.

However they need a mini cast cull. Terry, Brenda, Andy, Debbie, Sam, Derek (!), Faye and arguably Ryan all need to get on their bikes.

I thought you liked Debbie :o

The Eric storyline is rather tiresome. It was 17 years ago, who cares?!
