This looks like it could be astonishing and reviews seem to be saying it's Speilberg's best since Private Ryan and even as as good as his Schindler/Jurassic Park era.

It tells the story of a horse that is taken from a farm by the British Army and taken off to serve in WWI, where it passes from British to German hands and beyond. The concept of war told from the perspective of an innocent animal is surely an intriguing premise.

As a thought approximately 1 million horses left for the war from Britain in WWI and only 62,0000 returned

Early buzz says Oscar material. Hope the horse gets one.

Definitely one of the best trailers I've seen for any of the films with Best Picture buzz. It looks epic in the genuine sense of the word and is clearly going to be a tear-jerker with some beautiful performances. And I don't even like war films as a rule.

The show it's based on is spectacular, I'm quite looking forward to seeing the film version of it.

Really enjoyed this. Not as soppy as I imagined but just as cheesy in parts. Loved the part with the Germans throwing over the metal clippers.

Was hoping that duck was gonna join the family hug at the end though.

I saw this last night and thought it was atrocious, as did everyone I went with. The acting was almost uniformly dreadful and the whole thing felt more like a very very very long Sunday evening tv show than a blockbuster film. The accent of the lead character, when he first appeared on screen I just though "oh god, is he really going to talk like THAT for the whole thing?!!!" - There were so many clichéd moments I lost count, I found myself half expecting an ending where the horse cried and it's tears dropped to bring people back to life during the war scenes. ASTONISHED that this is nominated for best picture.

The horse however was admittedly great, by far the best actor on show.

I wish I could say the same. The nominations for best picture this year are nothing short of depressing.

I watched this last night and I thought it was absolutely incredible. The horse was definitely the best thing in it though.
