There are a whole host of reasons why they have both performed so poorly. Clearly the current economic situation does not help. The number of people who will be unable to buy as many of the week’s new releases as they would like is bound to be higher than in more affluent times. Albums which are made up of remixes of songs which most potential buyers already own are inevitably going to be a lower priority than albums of new material.

Interesting point, and it's exactly why I didn't buy her remix album this week (nor her new concert DVD). She's sort of moved down my priority list recently and perhaps everybody else's too considering some of her recent chart performances in comparison to the likes of Rihanna and Katy Perry :o

Still, I'm pretty shocked that she couldn't even take this album into the top 40...

As Rihanna's Single is No.1 for a 6th Week, she has achieved the 'Double Top',

- No.1 in both Charts, at the same time. It is the 3rd time that she's achieve it,

& the 2nd time in 2011 - with 4 different Hits, too. (It is very rare to achieve it

twice in a Calendar Year, but even more rare to achieve it via 2 different Singles,

& 2 different Albums).

THE 20 ACTS WHO HAVE ACHIEVED THE FEAT MORE THAN ONCE:,

(I show how many times they achieved it - and for how many Weeks/Charts)

1) THE BEATLES - 15 TIMES - 45 WEEKS

2)=ELVIS PRESLEY - 7 TIMES - 22 WEEKS

2)=THE SHADOWS - 7 TIMES - 13 WEEKS **

4)=ABBA - 4 TIMES - 13 WEEKS

4)=CLIFF RICHARD - 4 TIMES - 11 WEEKS

4)=QUEEN - 4 TIMES - 8 WEEKS

4)=MADONNA - 4 TIMES - 8 WEEKS ***

8)=ROLLING STONES - 3 TIMES - 5 WEEKS

8)=THE POLICE - 3 TIMES - 4 WEEKS

8)=RIHANNA - 3 TIMES - 3 WEEKS (To W/E 3rd December 2011) ***

11)=ROD STEWART - 2 TIMES - 7 WEEKS

11)=T. REX - 2 TIMES - 5 WEEKS

11)=GARY NUMAN - 2 TIMES - 2 WEEKS (One as Tubeway Army)

11)=MICHAEL JACKSON - 2 TIMES - 2 WEEKS

11)=WET WET WET - 2 TIMES - 7 WEEKS

11)=MEAT LOAF - 2 TIMES - 5 WEEKS

11)=SPICE GIRLS - 2 TIMES - 5 WEEKS

11)=SUGABABES - 2 TIMES - 2 WEEKS

11)=LADY GAGA - 2 TIMES - 2 WEEKS ***

11)=ADELE - 2 TIMES - 5 WEEKS ***

** = Twice as The Shadows, & 5 Times co-credited with Cliff Richard.

*** = It was not achieved by a Solo Female Act until W/E 8th November 1980 - Barbra Streisand. Madonna, Lady GaGa,

Rihanna, & Adele, are the only ‘Solo’ Female Acts to achieve it more than once. (Madonna - 1986, 1989, 2005, & 2008).

(Lady GaGa - 2009 & 2010). (Rihanna - 2007 & twice in 2011). (Adele - twice in 2011). Rihanna is the first Artist since

1979, to achieve the feat twice in a Calendar Year, with 2 different Singles & Albums. Gary Numan achieved it in 1979.

However, he achieved it once as Tubeway Army, (his Group), & once as Gary Numan. Purists may say that Rihanna is

the first credited Artist to achieve it since T. Rex, in May 1972 - 39 Years & 6 Months ago….

A) CONTENTIOUS…..(Because Gary Numan was credited as Tubeway Army, when he first achieved it, in July 1979)

21/07/1979 (1) Gary Numan/Tubeway Army - Replicas // Are Friends Electric

22/09/1979 (1) Gary Numan - The Pleasure Principle // Cars

B) NON-CONTENTIOUS…..(Because T. Rex, were credited as T. Rex, on both ‘Double Top’s, in 1972)

05/02/1972 (2) T. Rex - Electric Warrior // Telegram Sam

20/05/1972 (3) T. Rex - Bolan Boogie // Metal Guru

C) NON-CONTENTIOUS…..(Because Rihanna is credited on both occasions in 2011)

15/01/2011 (1) Rihanna - Loud // What’s My Name? (Featuring Drake)

03/12/2011 (1) Rihanna - Talk That Talk // We Found Love (Featuring Calvin Harris)

THE FEMALE SOLO ACTS WITH THE MOST No.1 ALBUMS

(Weeks at No.1 in Brackets)

1) MADONNA - 11 (29W)

2) BARBRA STREISAND - 6 (19W)

3)=CELINE DION - 5 (18W)

3)=KYLIE MINOGUE - 5 (11W)

5) DIANA ROSS - 4 (16W) @@@

6)=SUSAN BOYLE - 3 (6W)

6)=RIHANNA - 3 (5W)

@@@ = Contentious - because it includes 3 with The Supremes
