Posted November 28, 201113 yr Apparently, the Official UK Fan Club want to try and get one of Elvis' Christmas songs into the top ten for Christmas. The song they would like for this is of course 'Blue Christmas' and what they are asking is from the 1st of December for every fan to download 'Blue Christmas' from i-tunes or other download sites ( where the download counts "chartwise" ) and at least try to get Elvis into the top ten. For information. Brian

November 29, 201113 yr I think it could work, Elvis has a massive fanbase so could easily go Top 40 at least. Plus i think the song will appeal to more than just the fans so Top 10 is very possible. Great version, also a hit for Shakin' Stevens which i also love.
November 29, 201113 yr Great choice of song  The only thing that may go against it is that there is a large section of Elvis fans (mainly the older ones) who probably don't download music, simply because they are used to actually buying a CD from a shop

I prefer to have the CD though, but i think i might just download this one :yahoo:
December 3, 201113 yr Author 'Blue Christmas' UK Single Campaign 2011 UK Fan Clubs are mounting a campaign to get 'Blue Christmas' in the UK Single Charts in time for Christmas Day 2011. Hopefully fans from around the World can help us achieve our objective. It is imperative that you do not download the single before 10th December. Any date after that is fine in the run up to Christmas Day. Please use downloading sites that count for the UK Charts e.g. http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/blue-chri...38?i=4024423740 http://www.hmvdigital.com/artist/elvis-pre...-original-sound http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blue-Christmas/dp/...;sr=1-1-catcorr Let's all try and get 'Blue Christmas' in the charts. So far nearly every artist you can think of is in the download charts with a Christmas single from Brenda Lee to Paul McCartney but NO Elvis. Hopefully we can change that. Thanks. Brian :)
December 11, 201113 yr Author Unfortunately 'Blue Christmas' did not make the Top 100 UK Single Charts for this week. As the campaign only started on the 10th it may be too early to judge. We will have to wait until next week to see if there has been any progress. Interestingly, 'Elvis Christmas' album is currently at No.2 in the Seasonal Albums Chart at Amazon (U.S.A.) even outselling the current No.1 album by Michael Buble. Brian

December 18, 201113 yr Author Unless a miracle happens it would appear that 'Blue Christmas' will not appear in the UK Top 200 Single Charts later today. On a week by week basis it takes an average of around 1,200 sales to achieve the No.200 position (perhaps a few more at Christmas time) - so looks like fan apathy is the major cause of the failure. However, as we all know there was no Project Management for this campaign which was too late in starting. To get a Top 30 hit we really need the backing of SONY and they will only get involved if the song is featured in a popular TV Advertisement or major motion picture. After perusing many music websites it appears that we all have a lot to learn about today's music charts. For a start, many of the Xmas Singles were already on the i- Tunes Chart in October/November. Further, the week the 'Blue Christmas' Campaign was launched was the peak purchasing week for Christmas singles which were all on sale for around 59p. Of course we only had one day before the charts were compiled for that week. After that, prices were raised by the retailers to just under a pound for most. Next time around, the campaign will have to be Project Managed. Of course, there were no hard copies on sale in the Supermarkets/Record Shops. Brian :(
December 20, 201113 yr Fingers crossed that this week will bring better news, but, sadly, I guessed this might happen :(
