December 2, 201113 yr Author As it stands, England definitely don't want Group C! Or B. A would be AMAZING, D would be okay as long as we can get something off France.
December 2, 201113 yr Author God almighty, Group C is like all England's demons in one. Spain, Ireland and Croatia.
December 2, 201113 yr Author Phew. Group A is pathetic, B is SHIT HOT, C shouldn't be that bad for Spain and England should be able to negotiate D after the rather manky opening game against France.
December 2, 201113 yr Group A is awful, the worst team in each of the four pots in there. Utterly terrible and uninspiring. I doubt there was a Russian, German, Italian or English person not praying for that group. Pleased with what we have, always said to get either of the hosts would be good. I know they've got home advantage, but they're crap. Ukraine less so but Shevchenko is still one of their main men.
December 2, 201113 yr So the opening game is Poland v Greece. Surely it can only get better from there
December 2, 201113 yr Author Doubly annoying we're in D rather than A because our base is in Poland and we'll have to travel hundreds of miles for every group game.
December 2, 201113 yr Odds For The Groups Winner of the group: From Oddschecker.com Group A: Russia 6-4f Poland 3-1 Czech Republic 4-1 Greece 9-2 Group B: Germany 7-5f Holland 2-1 Portugal 4-1 Denmark 16-1 Group C: Spain 4-6f Italy 10-3 Croatia 9-1 Rep of Ireland 20-1 Group D: England 9-5f France 2-1 Ukraine 6-1 Sweden 7-1
December 2, 201113 yr France are going to be seriously tough. But even so if we don't qualify then that group then we really are f***ing awful. Sweden & the Ukraine are not good at all. We just don't want to lose the first game to France, otherwise it might get a little bit complicated.
December 2, 201113 yr Ooh, the groups have been announced. Well, we have a fairly nice group given the competition, at least. I have visions of us cocking it up against Sweden though.

We just don't want to lose the first game to France, otherwise it might get a little bit complicated. In the 7 European Championships England have taken part in we've drawn 3 and lost 4 of our opening games, I'd be very happy with a point against France. They're still not great, much better under Blanc but they struggled to get through automatically and I don't fear them at all, however IIRC they've inflicted 2 of the 6 defeats England have had under Capello.

They'll cause us problems. The worst case scenario is if we lose to France and either Ukarinae/Sweden win. Could put a lot of pressure on us. Still, we have GOT to be happy with the draw. There will be no easy games, but it could have been a lot harder. Group B would have been a real struggle for us. Group C perhaps aswell, but a lot of that would depend on how much the Irish were up for the game. I can't believe Group A though. What a serious non-group. Russia should qualify with ease.
December 2, 201113 yr Doubly annoying we're in D rather than A because our base is in Poland and we'll have to travel hundreds of miles for every group game. Indeed. The trips from Krakow to Donetsk (required for two group games) are like travelling to Wembley from 200 miles north of John O'Groats.
December 5, 201113 yr Englands group is not easy but its not hard as Sweden and Ukraine are not good teams but they will be hard to brake down and France is just a tough game anyway so i think we will finish second so looks like we are facing Spain then
December 8, 201113 yr Wayne Rooney has won his appeal, meaning he's only suspended for two games and will be available to fact Ukraine. I'd say that confirms he'll be in the squad, if it wasn't already obvious. Although if he doesn't see a rapid improvement in form I'd leave him behind anyway. Woeful.
December 8, 201113 yr He's been absolute shit for Man Utd this year. When was the last time he even scored? Think we'll really struggle up fromt at the Euros.
December 8, 201113 yr Since he scored a hat-trick against Bolton Man Utd have played 19 games, Rooney has scored three times, two of which were penalties, and all of them against Otelul Galati. I'd imagine Sturridge will have played himself into the first XI come the summer, but he'll have done that playing on the left side of a front three, which is likely to be Capello's favoured formation too. Two of Walcott, Young, Sturridge, Johnson and Bent? Downing? Milner? Welbeck? Zamora? Hard to say really.
December 8, 201113 yr If we want to win the Euro's then we have to play 4-3-3 or 4-5-1. Sturridge/Defoe are in form at the moment, but Sturridge is still very young, and often struggles at Chelsea with his finishing. He needs to be more clinical. And Defore idk. I imagine he'll play two attacking forwards/wingers out of Downing, Young, Walcott and Lennon with the main striker. Rooney's been piss poor for a while though. He doesn't have the consistency. He tends to score all of his goals in patches. He's having an abysmal season.
