Not sure. One of my friends wants to visit where her grandmother grew up. Stamford? We've found a bus trip for a few days which stays in Grantham and visits Cambridge and Lincoln too. Thought we could maybe combine the ancestor searching with some sightseeing. I've never been to that part of the country.

The best person to ask about Cambridge is probably Tony from BE. I'm not sure exactly where Stamford is.

I've been to Lincoln many times, it's really nice, the Cathedral well worth a visit. I don't think I'll be going there again anymore though, not the same

for personal reasons :(

Been to Grantham too, visited Grafham Waters, many years ago, was huge.

:(

I love anywhere with some history and old buildings. I think I might book the trip. ^_^

Maybe. :P

Depends if I get a nosebleed about Carlisle...

:w00t: Jups is travelling down South!

Next thing is to get her to travel to the US....

There's a big lump of water. If only I could get a bus across :(

You not fond of air travel, Jups? As much as I detest heights, I actually don't mind flying in an aircraft.....
Ah...in that case, I reckon I'd be making the trip to either Scootland or Angleland before either of you made it stateside....

Maybe with global warming the Atlantic will dry up enough for them to build a motorway :P

Anyhoo, I'm off to bed. I'm reading a very intellectual book about ancient Scottish kingdoms. I need to concentrate. Night all. x

I am not keen on flying either syas me who has been to Australia twice but I have to fly for work reasons otherwise I would get fired

Anyone ever watch the BLIGHTY channel on satellite tv, it has lost of shows about historical places in the UK, I love it as I always had a great interest in old buildings & their history & who lived in them etc.

I found the history of this place particularily interesting http://www.everycastle.com/Sissinghurst-Castle.html, Vita who was the wife of the owner was a lover of Virginina Woolf was a VERY colourful character -_-

'Tis a fine looking castle indeed ^_^

Here is my clan's ancestral pile. I still hold out the hope I may inherit it some day :P

I've never heard of the Blighty channel before, don't think I get that here.

Jups, if you happen to inherit that place one day, we all want to come and stay!
