Z Cars was a TV police program from the 60's. Set in a fictional place called 'Newtown' (I think) it was supposed to be up north (loosely based on Kirkby in Liverpool). The reason it was called Z Cars was because the two models of car that the cops used were Ford Zephyrs and Zodiacs. And I did all that from memory - without consulting IMDb at all!
