No! It isn't scanning. Anyway, the whizzy noise has stopped. Whatever it was doing is over. And PC is running great again. There is something kicking in every time I switch on my PC. It lasts for about 40 minutes and then stops and everything works fine again.

Did you say you have over 200 progs on your pc, does AVG start checking when you start up your pc, mine used to but I changed the settings, it has to be doing something in that 40 minutes

It is zooming along quite nicely now. ^_^

I think you are correct. *something* that slows everything up is automatically launching every time I switch it on.

How do I check?

You will need to go into the AVG programme & go to the TOOLS tab & ADVANCED setting, there you will find loads of options listed that cover scans etc bbut you will need to go through them all to see the different options. I did mine ages ago & it works fine now , it's a slow job but worth it in the end

There was a Programme Update thingy scheduled to run on PC startup. I've unticked that box. Do you think that might be the culprit?

Oh well, I'll wait and see what tomorrow brings. Bedtime.

Night Tess :D

Yes it should BUT you need to go back in there again & find wgere you can set the time for a full scan, set the time you want to run it, say 1 hr after start up & then you can let it run in it's own time , there should be a help tab in there somewhere that explains it all but you are definitely in the right area to get it sorted. I had that startup delay & it used to drive me crazy but what you are doing fixed it for me but you have to set the time

I shall send you a bill in the post ^_^

If I remember correctly you voted for said doggie to win :smoke:
Btw, all I can see is a big black box. No video. :(
I can't get any You Tube videos to play. Tell me there's something wrong with the site. The (really bad) alternative is that one of those 'surplus' programmes I deleted the other night was in fact actually important. Yikes!!!!!
Oh this is not good. No You Tube. No ITV video player. No BBC i Player. I've deleted something important haven't I ?

I'm going to bed. If you post any good videos please include a text description. :(
