Young Fogey Rising

The rapid decomposition of society leaves one feeling at times a bit adrift. Brideshead Revisited viewing parties only go so far in alleviating the rage. These days the only people I see carrying around a teddy bear in public are children and vagrants. It's time to face the impending immolations with the same determination of our ancestors. Brute force and violence are required. If you don't get it, then get out of the way. It's time to reclaim our heritage, including its cultural and sartorial forms. The Scotsman of all things recently took note of the growing presence of the Young Fogey. Perhaps he isn't so much an effect of the economic crisis, as an antidote to the anti-White poison of the MultiKult? Young Fogey as explicit English identity. I like to think I'm contributing to his resurgence. But even if I'm not, I shall claim otherwise anyway. Here's an excerpt:

There’s a new mood in menswear, and sartorially-minded chaps keen to tap into it need look no further for a fashion role model than their own grandfathers.

Which is exactly what Robbie Williams has done in launching his own clothing line; Farrell, both named for and inspired by his grandpa Jack Farrell, a collection of flat caps, pea coats, cosy cardigans, herringbone textiles and fedoras that pay homage to an elderly man but are firmly aimed at the 18-40 lad about town: the young fogey.

The key elements of the young fogey look – ties, tweed sports jackets, waistcoats, elbow patches, cords, braces and brogues – more usually associated with a certain generation of geography teachers and betting shop stalwarts, are somewhat paradoxically looking rather fresh these days, after nigh-on three decades of trainers, jeans and sweatshirts making up the average young man’s weekend wardrobe.

Traditional items that even a few years ago would have seemed at odds with men’s style anywhere but a sheltered housing complex are now the epitome of it. Leading proponents of the geriatric look include 30-something presenters Rick Edwards and George Lamb (whose foxy silvery locks complement the look perfectly), nu-folk old-timer-dressers Mumford & Sons, and even the positively embryonic One Direction, whose signature layered look of blazers, ties and sensible knitwear saw chat show host Alan Carr compare their action figures to university lecturers.

Topman’s latest collaboration is with Harris Tweed, and while even a few years ago this would have been remarkable, it now seems the natural fit for both brands. The former’s new stand-alone concept store in the heart of Shoreditch (stomping ground of the fashionable London fogey, or codger in local terms), which they have named The General Store, is done up like a gentleman’s outfitters from days gone by – all vintage fittings, battered floorboards and artfully distressed display units.

NYC premiere? Of what exactly?

James Cordens new play in Broadway, he is heading to NY, I heard him talk about last week on The Graham Norton show <_<

DJ Scott Mills set for New Year at home with pals after celebrating with Robbie Williams last year

RADIO 1 DJ Scott Mills has vowed to have a wild New Year with his family - after spending last year's sober at Robbie Williams' LA mansion.

Scott revealed: "I'm planning on staying in the UK as I've not seen my family for ages.

"Last year I went to LA after Christmas and stayed with Robbie Williams, as you do. He invited me to his house saying: 'We are going to be there so come over.'

"He asked me three or four times whereas if it had been just once I'd have thought, 'yeah, yeah'.

"I went and just sat there for a week at New Year, watching TV and doing lots of running up hills as Robbie was getting ready for the Take That tour.

"It was exciting but it was booze-free because Robbie hasn't touched drink for years. It feels weird drinking round people who don't drink.

"His place was like the Home Alone house, like a winter wonderland with snowmen and everything. I kind of wanted to stay there."

Scott got close to another Hollywood star, too - well, he saw Paris Hilton's staff taking down her decorations.

He said: "Paris Hilton lives down the road and at one point I saw them taking down the Christmas decorations from her house.

"She didn't do it personally, of course. They have someone in the road who takes them down for them. Obviously."

The chatty drive time host was in Carlisle yesterday for the world premiere of his film, Radio 1's Big Weekend Movie, at The University of Cumbria.

Scott and his team recorded footage for the feature at Radio 1'Big Weekend in May.

He said: "There are some really nice stories in there that might make you cry. I cried when I saw them.

"There is a wedding which is really sweet because you see the back story and get to know the There's couple. There's also a couple of best friends who have not seen one another in ages because one lives in Australia."

The film, which Scott describes as being "a day in the life with pop stars", also includes cameos from Jessie J and Nicole Scherzinger and her former fiance Lewis Hamilton.

He said: "We had a really good time making it. Jessie J is in the toilet at one point and she checks out her trailer and complains about things in a jokey way.

"It's sad when Nicole Scherzinger goes to the dressing room, the door opens and Lewis Hamilton is there."

Scott invited pal David Hasselhoff to come to the big premiere but the Baywatch star was too busy in panto in Bristol to attend.

He said: "The Hoff is one of my big Hollywood connections but he's hes too busy playing Hook."

Singer says new album will be a hit

http://i40.tinypic.com/2hye0sj.jpg

The singer admitted he made his past two albums, Rudebox and Reality Killed The Video Star, just for himself.

But he is reverting back to the winning formula which made him the biggest solo star in the UK.

He told fans on his blog: "I have been listening to what you want from me.

"You want guitar/piano/heart on my sleeve stuff. OK, you got it.

"I made the last couple of albums for me and had a great time doing it.

"But my raison d'etre (world domination) was missing. It's back."

Robbie has once again praised Gary Barlow after watching his performances on X Factor last week.

Robbie said: "Gaz was on great form. He's the most unflappable man in the business.

"I've learnt so much from him.

"He's Teflon Gaz – nothing sticks. He just gets on with enjoying himself."

He'll be even more happy when X Factor's finished.

SURVEY REVEALS ROBBIE WILLIAMS IS UK’S FIRST CHOICE TO HELP OUT IN AN EMERGENCY THIS WINTER

Robbie Williams has topped a list of celebrities that people would most like to help out in an emergency situation this winter. David Beckham follows closely with X Factor judge and Take That front man Gary Barlow taking third position in the poll.

Adrian Chiles, Eamonn Holmes and former Daily Mirror Editor and CNN star Piers Morgan came bottom of the poll, while loose lady Carol Vorderman, househunter Kirstie Allsopp and Apprentice star Lord Alan Sugar fared better in the survey.

You wouldn't choose Robbie to help in a gas leak would you? The first thing he'd do would be light a fag.

Robbie Williams: I want to bed Carol Vorderman and Lulu :puke2:

Cheeky Robbie Williams

ROBBIE Williams has given his sauciest interview yet – joking he wanted to romp with Carol Vorderman and Lulu.

The Take That singer answered questions on sex, swearing, his new album and his most embarrassing moments in a two-hour webchat with close pals and wife Ayda Field.

Robbie said: “I’ve got a controversial question. How much would it cost for you to sleep with a man? It’s got to be your minimum if a man comes to you and says name your figure.”

While his friends mentioned figures of around £5million, Robbie butted in saying: “I’ve thought, I’m coming in, £2million.”

When his wife Ayda suggested he had “undercut the competition” he added: “You never know what could come of this, babe you could be having a new car in the New Year.

“You never know, let’s keep our fingers crossed. I’m the cheapest.”

And he then went one step further by saying he would have gay sex for free if Hollywood star Brad Pitt asked to join him in bed.

“Brad can negotiate. It’s £2m for Santa, but it’s a freebie for Brad Pitt.” He then joked: “How much would I have to pay him?”

He also revealed he wanted to sleep with TV host Carol Vorderman as well as singer Lulu if he was given the chance when she duetted with

Take That in 1993.

37-year-old Robbie said his first crush was TV’s Wonder Woman, played by Lynda Carter, when he was three-years-old.

As the conversation turned to older women, he said: “Is there anyone in the room who wouldn’t sleep with Carol Vorderman? The whole room would sleep with Carol Vorderman.”

Rob then added: “Did Jason Orange go out with Lulu? I don’t think they did, but he is a secret squirrel Jay. If it came to pass and it went my way, I would have gone that way. I definitely would.”

Speaking on his Radio Rudebox online show, Robbie insisted he would be on the ‘Christmas naughty list’ for swearing in the Summer at Take That concerts, a move that even saw him told off by Gary Barlow’s mum.

Robbie Williams and wife Ayda Field

Robbie said his most embarrassing moment was when he tried to force a group of his fans to stand up during a solo gig in 2001 at Lancashire’s Old Trafford Cricket ground.

“I said ‘last night a man told my dear mum to sit down. That is not going to happen tonight. If you all want to sit down go to a Sting concert, this is a Robbie Williams concert, stand up’.”

One small section of the crowd did not stand and Robbie then made the 47,000 fans point at them and boo. Recalling the night he added: “I thought I was doing an ace piece of banter and I turned to the stage and I look at my manager and my mate Johnny Wilkes and they are doing

wheelchair signs.

“I was castrating the handicapped section for not standing up.”

Looking ahead on a more positive note, Robbie has a good feeling about 2012 and vowed to bounce back and become “the best in the world right

now” as he brings out an eagerly-awaited new solo album.

But he also said he had been gorging on Terry’s Chocolate Oranges over Christmas but would hit the gym before going on tour.

He said: “My resolutions, I want to be a better husband. I want to be a better guy and I want to be as happy as I can be. I also wanna get really fit next year, I have got an album coming out and I want to look the best pop star I can look at that time.

"So there will be OCD running up hills I think. I am going to ask for happiness, that is all you need.”

Robbie said his new album had been written “with a live show in mind” and that he also hoped to bring out a Christmas album in the next few years, as well as sing swing songs on stage with Michael Buble, who he rates highly as a performer.

He added: “It's very important for me to feel like I am competing, more so than ever. I haven’t wanted to go out there and be the best in the world since Intensive Care (2005 album), now I do.

"I am looking forward to going out on tour, doing promo and kicking a**e.

“Someone has to be the best in the world right now and I want to aim for that, and if I don’t make it I want to be somewhere near it.

“This year will be the best year of my life so far, everything is double double cool.”

His wife Ayda caused cheers among Robbie’s friends by saying her New Year’s resolutions were “to be the best wife and to hopefully start a beautiful family.”

Kylie Minogue hit named top song of the past decade

Kylie Minogue's hit single Can't Get You Out Of My Head was crowned the top tune of the Noughties today.

The song won first place in a poll of the most-played songs of the past decade.

The track was originally turned down by S Club 7 and Sophie Ellis-Bextor before Kylie used it.

The 2001 smash was followed by Britney Spears' Toxic in the survey by PRS (Performing Right Society) For Music, the UK's association of composers, songwriters and music publishers.

Both songs were the brainchild of songwriter Cathy Dennis, who worked with Robert Davis on Can't Get You Out Of My Head and Henrik Jonback, Pontus Winnberg and Christian Karlsson on Toxic.

Robbie Williams' biggest solo hit, Angels, was named the third most popular tune.

All of the top three songs won an Ivor Novello Award for Most Popular Song for the year they were released.

Scots band Wet Wet Wet were at number six with their version of the Troggs' Love Is All Around.

The 1994 hit was the soundtrack to Four Weddings And A Funeral and spent 15 weeks at the top of the UK charts.

PRS, which collects royalties on behalf of songwriters and composers, dipped into its records to work out which songs have been played and performed the most over the past 10 years.

Among them, the top five altogether have been played more than 875 million times over the decade.

The chart is based on airplay and live covers of the songs.

Guy Fletcher, PRS for Music chairman, said: "These are all classic songs of the Noughties and Can't Get You Out Of My Head is one of Kylie's all-time greatest hits.

"The writing talent behind this top five includes legends such as Cathy Dennis and Guy Chambers, and underpins the importance of good songwriting in producing a hit."

Most played songs of the Noughties:

1. Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out of My Head (2001)

2. Britney Spears - Toxic (2004)

3. Robbie Williams - Angels (1997)

4. Jamelia - Superstar (2003)

5. Liberty X - Just A Little (2002)

Just shows the ongoing popularity of Angels given that it was released 3 years before the noughties even started.
