OH RYAN only just saw your comment (reading my own topic back like a saddo) and it's not that bad! I was kinda still very much still in the honeymoon period when i did this but there's a few songs that save it from total ruin. Plus it's Rihanna. Can't go wrong.

03. WU LYF - Go Tell Fire To The Mountain

We Bros, Summas Bliss, Spitting Blood, Heavy Pop, L Y F

I loved the whole image (or lack thereof) that WU LYF constructed to build up hype around themselves and so was really quite excited to hear from them on their first album. Obviously I was disappointed and deleted it because I realised a few months later that it had entirely disappeared. What was I thinking? Atmospheric yet full of tunes, and his voice complements the music perfectly. They're definitely now top of my list of bands to see live in 2012 (at least after M83 in feb. hello spoilers.) Love ittt.

02. M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming

Midnight City, Reunion, Steve McQueen, Intro (ft. Zola Jesus), OK Pal, Wait, ETC.)

Oh where to startt? Euphoric synths, soaring vocals, indecipherable lyrics. An album where even the INTRO is a highlight must be amazing, and this has been by far my most listened to album of the year and SO CLOSE to being my number 1. I could listen to the whole thing on repeat forever and probably not get bored, even the lows (Raconte-Moi Une Histoire) have a certain charm to them that won't let me skip. Double albums are cool. OKAY?

Ready for the most predictable number one possible?

01. Bon Iver - Bon Iver

Holocene, Perth, Calgary, Towers, Beth/Rest

Well it's just a bit beautiful isn't it, Holocene is one of the nicest songs I think I've ever heard and the rest of the album really isn't far off. His way with words and music is entirely unrivalled and makes the whole thing incredibly special. WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO SAY. SPEECHLESS.

And at once I knew I was not magnificent.

HOPE YOU HAD FUN

A fine choice for #1 album there, cannot fault it - except maybe the final track.. :P The WU LYF album really grew on me over the past few months, learning that they recorded it in a church makes it all the more special - I absolutely LOVE "We Bros" and "Such a Sad Puppy Dog" - amazing!!

The mark of a great album is the more you listen to it then more gems you unearth and that is very true of Washed Out's album. I didn't think much of it when I first listened to it (apart from "Amor Fati" which immediately stood out) but I've been won over for sure.

Great chart Chris! :D

Glad you like! Albums that grow well seems to be the theme of this countdown somehow, WU LYF/Washed Out/Lady Gaga etc. all took their time but ended up top notch albums. Within and Without has nothing on Life Of Leisure though. Favourite EP ever.

I feel I should address the GLARING ERROR in this countdown and point out that In The Grace Of Your Love should definitely now be included:
