December 28, 201113 yr Author Woo! So pleased that Ed isn't #1, and beaten by such a great song. Christina's part remains my favourite bit of the song but it rekindled my interest in Maroon 5 and ended up buying 'Songs About Jane'. Hopefully both artists can continue with success now and fully get rid of the 'flop' tags. :D Tom Jones feat. will.i.am for #1 next year maybe? Just had a check and it seems TBAS missed the cut. :( Might have to put 'Good News' into my albums EOY though just for good measure. Eurovision songs seem to have done a lot better here though, in your EOY, as I've only got one in my top 20. My sister bought Just Dance 3 for myself and whilst dancing to Satellite I'm certain she was singing along quietly. She isn't even a Eurovision fan :o Just goes to show it's wide appeal. Surely I can't be that predictable.. I thought you'd be pleased at the #1! I love Christina's part but everything about it just works - I can't say I don't love Maroon 5's parts as they make up the bulk of the song  I downloaded the (actually alright) album off the back of it, but not their old stuff as I was never interested in them back in 2004. I'd like to see both continue with success now though too, especially Christina - although she needs to ditch the crap electro and make something amazing! Ah that's a shame, although I know you were initially underwhelmed by Taken By A Stranger so it's not a surprise to see it miss out. Eurovision songs always litter my top 100 to the extent that I'm shocked that not even one made my EOY top five this year! Ghosty's personal chart/EOY chart is always the kindest to Eurovision though, I think he's BJ's biggest Eurovision loon overall  LOVE how high Titanium is! Me too :w00t: Comments on your top 10: 1. Maroon 5 feat Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger Now that is a surprise! I really thought The A Team was a dead cert for #1 here! Especially after it clocked up so many weeks at #1! 2. Ed Sheeran - The A Team I never really got Ed's music sadly, but I can understand why people would like it. 3. Jennifer Lopez feat Pitbull - On The Floor J. Lo's best song in years! I much prefer the Pitbull free version obviously, but this is just so Eurovision that I can't help but really like it! 4. Rihanna feat Calvin Harris - We Found Love I have gone off this slightly as it got a bit overplayed. It was a strong lead single from the album (which I still haven't got round to listening to!), and I was surprised at it's quality as I'm not a big Calvin Harris fan at all! 5. Eric Amarillo - Om Sanningen Ska Fram Obviously this is brilliant! It's a shame he's not amongst the MF lineup next year :( 6. Blue - I Can Our best entry in a long while, it should have done a lot better at Eurovision! Damn those juries :( 7. Nadine Beiler - The Secret Is Love Like Blue, this should have been top 10 at least! I wasn't fussed on the song to begin with, but now it is in my top 10 entries from the 2011 contest. The live performance was faultless! 9. Sheelah - The Last Time Such a huge shame they split! The two songs that surfaced were definitely pop perfection! 10. Eric Saade - Popular Despite some dodgy lyrics, this was one of my top 5 favourites from this year's contest. It's third place was well deserved! Fabulous countdown as always, Rich! :D Thanks Ghosty! 1. Haha, everyone seems to be saying the same thing! The A Team racked up 7 weeks at a relatively quiet chart period whereas Moves Like Jagger managed a huge top ten run in the busiest months of the year! It's the way it goes sometimes I guess so it looked misleading, but The A Team never even topped my YTD rankings! On The Floor was #1 right up until November where Maroon 5 leapfrogged her down to #3 with Ed staying at #2! 3. I agree, as you know - I'm quite fond of some rap verses and although as a rule I hate Pitbull, I just find the song empty without him having got so used to his version! 5. Agreed on all counts, I really thought that he would be :( 6. Definitely, even 7th or 8th would have been fairer. Surely putting it at 22nd was a joke, it was easily one of the best songs there :/ That's not me being patriotic either because Andy and Josh fully deserved their last places! 7. Agreed, I'm so glad that this song grew on you in the end! Very talented girl, she came 2nd to last on the televoting - ridiculous :/ 9. I know :drama: At least they had a 100% strike rate of #1's on my chart and 100% BJSC winning strike rate, indeed still the ONLY act ever to win the contest twice :o 10. Definitely, I got over the lyrics in the end but I can't help but feel that it might have been 6th or 7th in my EOY chart with better lyrics. I was hoping Coldplay would have more than one entry, I was sure you said you preferred 'Every Teardrop...' so either I've completely imagine it or, like me, the X-Factor performance of 'Paradise' has brought new appreciation? Anyway, a few comments: 1. Maroon 5 feat Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger - I don't mind this again now, it is quite good but it did annoy me really quickly. Thankfully I don't listen to the radio so it hasn't been completely killed. 2. Ed Sheeran - The A Team - This is great, not a fan of the album but still enjoy this a lot. 3. Jennifer Lopez feat Pitbull - On The Floor - Although I hated this at first I don't mind it so much now, although I'm not sure if that's because it's grown on me or because every club banger after was even worse making this more bearable. 16. David Guetta & Sia - Titanium - My favourite song in your top 100! 18. Adele - Rolling In The Deep - The only song of hers I can still listen to, still really good! 19. Lady Gaga - The Edge Of Glory - Never got the fuss with this one, I know it's the best rated of her 5 singles but I only prefer it to You & I 20. Nero - Me & You - definitely their best. 39. Ludovico Einaudi - I Giorni - the one that made the chart? I did quite like this 45. The Pierces - You'll Be Mine - Not sure I'd want a whole album but this is great 47. Agnes Obel - Riverside - I do like this one too. I got it on Hits' CD swap 73. LMFAO feat Lauren Bennett & Goonrock - Party Rock Anthem - Good to see I'n not alone liking this, perfect party song although I don't care for it much outside of that environment 75. Drake feat Rihanna - Take Care - I can't decide if I like this or not, the sample is too good and too recent so everytime I listen I tend to stop halfway through and listen to the original Thanks Mark, yeah I did prefer Every Teardrop up until the X Factor performance and then it all clicked and fell into place, which I guess was the same story for a lot of people  Pleased to see you enjoying Moves Like Jagger more again now, and same here - I don't listen to much radio at all so overplay isn't a problem here! I always thought that I was alone preferring Me & You to everything else of Nero's so it's nice to see that I'm not judging by some of the comments in this thread! Yep, I Giorni was the one that Greg James took to the top 40, lovely song. I wouldn't bother with The Pierces' album but You'll Be Mine is really great, my only regret is that I peaked it at #19 in my weekly chart - madness, it got caught up in the Eurovision rush but still...Oh yeah, Party Rock Anthem is excellent in a club, pretty much the sole reason that it's here to be honest

December 28, 201113 yr Author Hello Richard :D Firstly I shall list which tracks in your top 100 made my top 10 - I've bolded the chart toppers in my chart. 1. Maroon 5 feat Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger 2. Ed Sheeran - The A Team 3. Jennifer Lopez feat Pitbull - On The Floor 4. Rihanna feat Calvin Harris - We Found Love 5. Eric Amarillo - Om Sanningen Ska Fram 6. Blue - I Can 8. Ed Sheeran - You Need Me, I Don't Need You 10. Eric Saade - Popular 11. Ed Sheeran - Lego House 13. Adele - Someone Like You 15. Florence & The Machine - Shake It Out 31. Britney Spears - Till The World Ends 33. Alexandra Stan - Mr Saxobeat 37. Diddy-Dirty Money feat Skylar Grey - Coming Home 38. Noah And The Whale - L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N. 41. Sak Noel - Loca People 43. Jessie J feat B.o.B - Price Tag 47. Agnes Obel - Riverside 48. Beyoncé - Best Thing I Never Had 55. Gotye feat Kimbra - Somebody That I Used to Know 56. Emeli Sandé - Heaven 58. Taio Cruz feat Kylie Minogue - Higher 62. Katy Perry - Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) 64. Take That - Love Love 66. Rizzle Kicks - Down With the Trumpets 73. LMFAO feat Lauren Bennett & Goonrock - Party Rock Anthem 77. Lady Gaga - Judas 88. Coldplay - Paradise 95. Little Mix - Cannonball Well, 2011 surely turned out to be quite the year for surprising massive hits. Who would've thought Jennifer Lopez would have her biggest selling single - 12 years into her musical career. Or that Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera would dominate charts all over the world purely thanks to working together on a US talent show. I know he doesn't feature but who also expected the likes of Pitbull to grab that UK #1 smash? :o As for your albums, I never do album charts because I'm more inclined to just buy singles, or at the very least cherry pick individual tracks off albums. So '21' would quite easily be my no. 1 album of 2011. The Brit Awards 2011 had a massive impact. For me to watch Adele performing live on TV, then to go and buy the album based on hearing two tracks, that performance must've been special. :D Ultimately, Adele has been my most successful artist of 2011 with three #1 singles for me. I think I shall focus on the chart toppers I had which made this list: 4. Rihanna feat Calvin Harris - We Found Love What an absolute solid gold pop gem. As I posted in the Rihanna thread in UK Chart, here is an artist who has continued to progress getting better with each era. Ok, 'Rated R' was a bit of a non event but it included 'Rude Boy' so it wasn't all bad. It's left to be seen how well the singles from 'Talk That Talk' perform, but 'We Found Love' has already sold this era for me even if no other track does. 11. Ed Sheeran - Lego House Easily my fave single by Ed Sheeran and did really well to not just top my chart but stay there for 5 weeks. All the while the nearest challanger for #1 was 'We Found Love' which just further adds to how much I loved that track. The only single that I didn't get into was 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You' which despite entering at #10 quickly tailed off in my chart. 28. Lana Del Rey - Video Games BJSC  Who would've thought this time last year that I would end up getting involved with BJSC and somehow securing the honour of winning my first contest. :o Hence I've been able to discover some gems throughout the year. 'Video Games' easily being the most successful of those discoveries. 19 weeks inside my top 20 - 11 of those inside my top 10. That's the sign of a song I adore. I have high hopes for Lana Del Rey in 2012. 43. Jessie J feat B.o.B - Price Tag Buzzjack has quite few Jessie J loons which is all well and good. For me, it's less about the artist and more about the material they release. Therefore I can't help but say Jessie J has been very inconsistant with my personal tastes. I really didn't like 'Do It Like A Dude' - there was just something false about the song. Like she trying too hard to be edgy and I just didn't buy the whole act at all. 'Price Tag' is much more to my tastes; catchy chorus, an actual melody which is humable, decent enough music video. Alas the only track to make my #1 spot. 'Nobody's Perfect' being Jessie's only other top 10 hit for me this year. Nothing else got even close to my top 20. 47. Agnes Obel - Riverside 48. Beyoncé - Best Thing I Never Had 55. Gotye feat Kimbra - Somebody That I Used to Know What a group of hits. Referring back to the Lana comment, BJSC really turned things around. I don't think Batidas is quite up there with FSR Rontvia but if I'm able to keep entering tracks I like that are enjoyed by others, who knows how Batidas will fare in 2012. Beyonce's 2011 era was a complete and utter mess as far as I'm concerned. 'Run The World (Girls)' and 'Countdown' are imo dreadful tracks and rely too heavily on production, but very little on anything else. On the other hand, 'Best Thing I Never Had' is a really nice ballad and again much more my thing. Finally Gotye. ^_^ It's been a grower for everybody it seems, me included. By the time I entered it into BJSC it had grown on me more. I actually found myself liking the song even more post BJSC. Would be incredible if it's a big hit in early 2012. I still have a gut feeling it'll be one of the first major hit singles of 2012 in the UK. Thanks Hits, oh indeed, with Nicole Scherzinger, Will Young, Maroon 5, Jennifer Lopez and Christina Aguilera dominating and few new acts breaking through, it felt like we'd fallen back by 5-7 years in time  Not forgetting Steps #1 album of course! 21 is definitely the album of the year, Adele deservedly defined 2011 and that Brits performance was amazing! 4. I'm afraid I don't agree with you on Rated R, it's probably my 2nd favourite album of hers (after Loud) and Rude Boy was one of my least favourites on it! But yes, We Found Love is approaching something of a career high, stunningly good production and crisp vocals from Rihanna make this a modern classic - it's the simple songs that are the best sometimes. 28. After years of me suggesting it to you, I'm glad that you finally joined BJSC this year and took to it like water of a duck's back. And more than anybody else on the forum it seems to dominate your personal chart so it looks like it was worthwhile you joining! 43. Very rarely do I loon for an artist, ok Ed Sheeran this year but there's a couple of songs on his album that he could release as a single and they'd go nowhere near my personal chart top 20. Not like these Gaga loons that have a 10 week run at #1 for every single that she releases, regardless of quality. Price Tag is excellent and the majority of her album is really good too but I'm certainly not a loon, and her live performances are more or less abominable every time. I suppose with an artist that changes the style of music that they release with each single, each single is going to appeal to different people each time, it's good to be versatile but harder I suppose to build up a loyal fanbase. 57. I'm sure Batidas will have a great 2012, you've picked incredibly well in your first year of the contest - only one howler imo but we all have our off days, even I've DNQ'd twice before :P What could have been if you'd sent the I Follow Rivers remix instead of Erase You :drama: Did you even chart Erase You in the end? I would say that Gotye's song is the grower of the year, but then I'm a very 'grower' sort of person, mainly because I don't overplay songs and sometimes they do take a long time to worm their way into my affections - just look at my chart runs for Moves Like Jagger and The A Team, my top two of the year but I saw fit to debut neither within my top 50! Hi, hope you had a good xmas. Here are my faves (ones in bold are also in my top 100): 1. Maroon 5 feat Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger 2. Ed Sheeran - The A Team 3. Jennifer Lopez feat Pitbull - On The Floor 4. Rihanna feat Calvin Harris - We Found Love 6. Blue - I Can 8. Ed Sheeran - You Need Me, I Don't Need You 9. Sheelah - The Last Time 10. Eric Saade - Popular 11. Ed Sheeran - Lego House 13. Adele - Someone Like You 15. Lise Karlsnes - Red Hot 16. David Guetta & Sia - Titanium 18. Adele - Rolling In The Deep 19. Lady Gaga - The Edge Of Glory 20. Nero - Me & You 21. Chart Music - All My Life it's even higher in mine than in yours! :o 22. Britney Spears - Hold It Against Me 23. Will Young - Jealousy 24. Kelly Clarkson - Mr. Know It All 25. Charlene Soraia - Wherever You Will Go 26. Sunday Girl - Love U More 28. Lana Del Rey - Video Games 29. Military Wives with Gareth Malone - Wherever You Are 30. Florence & The Machine - Shake It Out 31. Britney Spears - Till The World Ends 33. Alexandra Stan - Mr Saxobeat 34. Christina Perri - A Thousand Years 35. Andrea Corr - Tinsletown In The Rain 36. One Direction - What Makes You Beautiful 37. Diddy-Dirty Money feat Skylar Grey - Coming Home 38. Noah And The Whale - L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N. 39. Ludovico Einaudi - I Giorni 41. Sak Noel - Loca People 42. Lykke Li - Sadness Is A Blessing 43. Jessie J feat B.o.B - Price Tag 45. The Pierces - You'll Be Mine any guesses where this may end up in mine? :P 46. Wynter Gordon - Dirty Talk 48. Beyoncé - Best Thing I Never Had 50. The Pierces - Glorious 51. Yasmin - On My Own 56. Emeli Sandé - Heaven 58. Taio Cruz feat Kylie Minogue - Higher 62. Katy Perry - Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) 63. Lena - Taken By A Stranger 64. Take That - Love Love 66. Rizzle Kicks - Down With the Trumpets 68. Christina Perri - Jar Of Hearts 69. Agnes - Don't Go Breaking My Heart 73. LMFAO feat Lauren Bennett & Goonrock - Party Rock Anthem 75. Drake feat Rihanna - Take Care 76. Jennifer Lopez feat Lil' Wayne - I'm Into You 77. Lady Gaga - Judas 78. Leona Lewis / Avicii - Collide 83. Tove Styrke - Call My Name 84. The Saturdays - All Fired Up 87. Noah And The Whale - Waiting For My Chance To Come 88. Coldplay - Paradise 95. Little Mix - Cannonball 96. Kelly Clarkson - (What Doesn't Kill You) Stronger 98. Jennifer Lopez - Papi Fantastic as always :D Thanks AH Gold, will comment on your chart later but I did indeed see that The Pierces were #1, gorgeous song  Lovely to see you liking Chart Music so much too! Richard! :D Sorry I didn't really tune in while this was going on; some belated comments, though: 1. Maroon 5 feat Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger :o So surprised to see this at the top! Delighted though, almost the biggest song of the year and its not hard to see why, effortlessly catchy. 2. Ed Sheeran - The A Team Nevertheless I never expected it to beat this, must have been a titanic tussle in your head! For me, this defines your year even if it doesn't define your own :P 4. Rihanna feat Calvin Harris - We Found Love It was so heartening to see this grow on you slowly, and equally delighting to see it so high here! 6. Blue - I Can I arrived after this had all gone down, so I had no expectations of this - I like the song but WOW! Our best entry in a while no doubt, love the little vocal effects 7. Nadine Beiler - The Secret Is Love I did have a soft spot for this one, though I can't recall it offhand now - ooh yes,, very Disney! Still sounds lush 12. Sara Varga - Spring För Livet One of my pet hates of Melodifestivalen this year - not because it was especially awful, just because it won out over much better tracks  20. Nero - Me & You Guilt was by far their best for me, bit overrated in general I found though 21. Chart Music - All My Life Snap on EOY positions! :D Thanks again for the discovery, good luck in TBO! 26. Sunday Girl - Love U More Nice to see this getting its due in several EOY charts 33. Alexandra Stan - Mr Saxobeat And nice to see this! Such an irresistible club track (though I know loads of people who can indeed resist ) 39. Ludovico Einaudi - I Giorni One of the oddest but more pleasant surprises this year was seeing Einaudi get a bit of attention 53. Ria - Over You I never gave this that much play yet I can still recall the chorus - a very slow grower, perhaps? 55. Gotye feat Kimbra - Somebody That I Used to Know Not quite #2 :P Nice to see it here though! Hoping for a UK chart success 63. Lena - Taken By A Stranger I didn't like Satellite but it made me sad this didn't do very well, much better song for me Excellent chart, of course! Here's to another great Hit Parade in 2012 :D Thanks David :D 2. Haha, as I said to Ghosty, this actually NEVER topped my YTD rankings - On The Floor was #1 until late November and then Moves Like Jagger leapfrogged it leaving Ed sandwiched at #2. So although Ed as an artist defines my year, between his three big singles and two albums in my EOY top ten, Moves Like Jagger definitely deserves to top this chart! 4. Haha yes, I always loved it but it really was that X Factor performance that turned it from excellent to life enhancing! 6/7. Both huge obsessions of mine during Eurovision season, a crying shame that both underperformed so much :( 12. For me it was the other way round, I ADORE this and always found My Heart Is Refusing Me the more overrated of its (unfair) pair in Andra Chansen. I was elated when Sara went through, even if I was the only one on BJ with this opinion  21. Wow, excellent to see it so high in yours - glad you enjoyed it! 26. Indeed, a shame that the public will never get to love it :( 39. I bought his 'Essential' collection and charted another song of his in my top 15 off the back of this! 53. Haha, maybe so - too subtle for BJSC perhaps though? 55. I think this proves that BJSC + subtle just don't go. 14th? Dear god what an injustice... 63. Satellite topped my end of year 2010 chart, so from 1 to 63 is a bit of a fall in quality for me but I still love this! Hey Rich! :D Just a few comments on your chart: 1. Maroon 5 feat Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger Fantastic #1. People can call it overrated/overplayed all they want, but it truly is an ace pop song - I secretly hoped it would be huge when people were predicting it to flop, and I'm so glad that it didn't :D 2. Ed Sheeran - The A Team This has grown on me huge amounts since seeing his performances on Children in Need Rocks and Top of the Pops Christmas - the latter performance in particular was gorgeous. I'm a bit disappointed that I was never sucked into the hype first time around :( 'You Need Me' was of course a #1 for the both of us, but looking back, it isn't really up to this standard. 3. Jennifer Lopez feat Pitbull - On The Floor And that completes a trio of amazing songs in your top three (and of course #4 too). Again, a song that I originally didn't see the "magic" or whatever in, but I'd say it's definitely one of my favourite "bangers" of the year - I especially loved hearing at my year 11 prom earlier in the year; so good, they played it twice :D 22. Britney Spears - Hold It Against Me 48. Beyoncé - Best Thing I Never Had Pleasing to see this pair make it in. 'Hold it Against Me' isn't my favourite off 'Femme Fatale' (you can find out that by checking out my countdown), but it really was something special and unexpected from Brit. It's tracks like that, and 'How I Roll' off the album which make me sad that she doesn't get the success that she deserves in the UK anymore. 'Best Thing...' is of course a fantastic song from Beyoncé - I would say return to form, but as I also loved 'Run the World' for different reasons, I don't think it is. She's just continuing her amazing streak, so similar to Britney, it's a shame to see her new material underperforming (although half of the album has made the UK top 75 this year already) :D A very good, perhaps predictable, #1 album here too. I've not listened to it as much as I originally did in the past few months (and in fact, the singles as well), but it really will go down as an all-time classic album, and I can't wait for Adele to sweep the award season in 2012 :D Thanks Theo, pleased that you liked my top four! As you can see by my chart runs for them, all of Moves Like Jagger, On The Floor and The A Team were 'don't see the fuss' moments for me too initially but all clicked to the point of obsession enough to top my chart :D I adore Femme Fatale and all of its singles, shame it was so underrated :( As for Beyonce, I wouldn't call myself a fan but she's had a few top five hits in my chart (including a #1 with Beautiful Liar) and I own three of her four studio albums (only missing Dangerously In Love). Best Thing I Never Had is a very classy song, pleased that it was the biggest single this era for her. 21 is too good for me for it to go to anyone else, predictable or not. It's one album that I've never got even remotely bored of - even despite the MASS exposure of all of the singles!

I agree about Maroon 5 and Ed, obviously!

January 3, 201213 yr 9. Sheelah - The Last Time (2-1-1-1-2-6-6-8-11-15-20-13-20-30) LmyomOfDKXM Haunted at the prospect of having to represent anybody other than FSR Rontvia at BJSC, Swedish female duo Sheelah sadly decided to split up a few months ago before jumping back into that incredible chorus about pre break up sex (i.e. the part before The Vaccines' song takes place) Generally a v solid list (as ever!) but I thought I just ought to reply in order to register my opinion that these two lines make this possibly the best track review of the year. In TEARS!
January 3, 201213 yr I'd put the following in my own personal top 100 / 40 chart for the year: 4. Rihanna feat Calvin Harris - We Found Love 18. Adele - Rolling In The Deep 75. Drake feat Rihanna - Take Care - I don't suppose you have heard the original sample which provides the basis of this song? Jamie xx / Gil Scott-Heron 'I'll Take Care of U.' Plenty better than Rihanna's effort I believe. 2. Lady Gaga - Born This Way - admittedly, somewhere near the bottom of the 40 as I haven't listened to as much music this year as I usually do, ha. 19. Nicola Roberts - Cinderella's Eyes - I haven't heard the album but I do like the first two singles. Never mind. I'm surprised you don't have some The Weeknd / (different) Drake tracks somewhere though. As well as Azealia Banks '212' which I presume you've already heard.
January 4, 201213 yr Author Generally a v solid list (as ever!) but I thought I just ought to reply in order to register my opinion that these two lines make this possibly the best track review of the year. In TEARS! Nice to see that somebody approves of my waffle :D I'd put the following in my own personal top 100 / 40 chart for the year: 4. Rihanna feat Calvin Harris - We Found Love 18. I'm surprised you don't have some The Weeknd / (different) Drake tracks somewhere though. As well as Azealia Banks '212' which I presume you've already heard. The Weeknd and Azealia Banks are both cases of 'love them but not enough for this list', I'm sure they'll make it next year with something, the latter at least. I've still never listened to I'll Take Care Of U actually, I should probably rectify that...
January 4, 201213 yr Thanks Hits, oh indeed, with Nicole Scherzinger, Will Young, Maroon 5, Jennifer Lopez and Christina Aguilera dominating and few new acts breaking through, it felt like we'd fallen back by 5-7 years in time  Not forgetting Steps #1 album of course! I wonder if there will some shock comeback singles in 2012 that could become massive hits. I've seen the new Will.I.Am. track featuring J-Lo and...yes, Mick Jagger. The video is quite high budget and could quite easily become a big hit. It's nothing revolutionary but the idea of Mick Jagger scoring a massive hit in 2012 would surely a surprise even if we sort of expect it to happen. :D Steos getting a #1 with their 'Greatest Hits' proved how much the legacy lived on. For them, I think because they ended on a relatively high note (in popularity terms, not personal because we know it was far from "high" between band members :P ) that might explain why the album sold well. Having the TV documentary helped too. True, Adele really made The Brit Awards 2011 her own with that performance. Makes you wonder what would've happened had the track been performed right at the end. Would it have had an even bigger impact closing the show? I'm glad that Adele made her stamp all across the world not just with '21' but also her three singles. 4. Actually I knew you thought 'Rated R' was incredible. You mentioned ages ago - probably around the time when 'Rude Boy' was riding high in my chart. I'm glad that 'We Found Love' ended up as my #1 single of 2011 - if it hadn't have been, it would've overtaken 'Video Games' with the 2012 points. 28. I remember the first time I went into the BJSC forum after I joined in early 2010 and didn't understand anything. That initial "y'what?" moment meant I missed out on the joys of BJSC from much earlier on. Just think how different my personal chart might've been in 2010. :o Like I mentioned in Ghosty's year chart thread, it was Silas who really helped me out. Seems weird to think that not long before I decided to join, BJSC was being hailed as a relative flop with less than 40 people taking part each month. Now it seems to have enjoyed a whole new lease of life thanks to more people jumping on board. It's great as it sticks mainly to what I like - discovering new music. :D 43. It's difficult not to loon when it's an artist who you've discovered yourself and seen them develop over a period of time. Then when you see them finally hit the big time, I'd be all "YAY!!!". That's why I don't understand the logic of indie music snobs - the types who like an act when they're not big or popular, but as soon as they have 1 successful single, the snobs call "sell out" and refuse to listen to their music. It always says more about the snob than it does about the music. Music should be enjoyed by more people, not less people. Otherwise what's the point? Anyways, before I go off on one completely ( :P ) let's focus on Ed Sheeran. 'Lego House', as you know, is my fave single by Ed. When it started climbing the charts the timing was perfect. I saw the acoustic version on YouTube (where he's sat in a boat performing). Then the video with Rupert Grint taking a cameo role just really boosted the song completely and ultimate helped the song to no. 1 for 5 weeks in my chart. No, I didn't expect 'Lego House' to end up staying at #1 for that long either. ;D 57. No, 'Erase You' never charted whilst 'I Follow Rivers' did well because of its success in Europe/HIT30. I treat BJSC like Eurovision. With Eurovision (as you've probably noticed over the years) I only chart my fave tracks from the final. If I like a song but it fails to qualify then it's tough. That's just one of my silly chart rules to enable me to have a chart that can be manageable. :P Same applies with BJSC - only tracks that make the final (including my own) can make my chart. If I just allowed myself to chart anything at any time, I'd end up ripping my hair out trying to put a shortlist of 100 songs condensed into a top 40 where I'd be happy with the order. By not allowing myself to just chart anything, it means I actually find it easier to compile my personal chart. I'd hope to think Batidas will continue to do well but it's so competitive and really difficult predict which BJSC country will be a dominating force. I shall take this opportunity to cheer Buzzjack style at Gotye being added to the Radio 1 playlist. :cheer: I hope to see the video soon on the music channels. I'm sure once video airplay kicks in, the track will soon rocket up iTunes. Tracks can often build up their popularity with me without ever making my chart. That's where my Pre-Release chart comes in. I guess you could say it's the unofficial 41-50. :P There you can clearly see which tracks are most likely to be massive for me, or just moderate hits. The only track that entered my chart at #1 without ever making my Pre-Release Chart was 'Someone Like You' but in that case, the power of TV took hold followed by the purchasing of '21'. Buying the album is ultimately what helped 'Set Fire To The Rain' top my chart in May after the track started doing well in Europe.

Buying the album is ultimately what helped 'Set Fire To The Rain' top my chart in May after the track started doing well in Europe. I know what you mean about Steps, I hope they can get a decent sized comeback single/album too should they wish to do one, something like Boyzone levels of success, I'm certainly not expecting them to reach Take That levels! 28. Indeed, it's a shame you never joined sooner but better late than never! That said, it's been SO much better in 2011 than previously thanks to the anti-cheap measures put in place by the mods. It used to be such an anti-climax to send a really great 'inspired' song and see it finish second. I was so gutted when I finished 2nd in BJSCXX behind the newly leaked comeback single by Alphabeat, The Spell :/ You only need to look back at the history of the results to see some of the terrors that came top five, at the same time as being a discovery to absolutely NOBODY. It's a wonder I never walked out of BJSC, although I very nearly did on many occasions! I can accept failure, but not at the expense of completely uninspired tracks plucked from the current UK chart! 43. I couldn't agree more, I was elated when the likes of Heaven, Love Song and Release Me went on to become such huge UK hits after I'd championed for so long beforehand, with no possible knowledge that they would ever even get a release here, let alone be huge hits. Why wouldn't you want more people to be loving the songs that you've loved for so long, I don't understand these snobs either... 57. That's quite understandable, my current shortlist for my new chart has over 130 songs on it :drama: it doesn't actually take me that long to whittle them down surprisingly! From day one the only rule in my chart is that there are no rules, and it's the way I've always kept it, even if sometimes it's been ridiculously packed - usually when either Delta releases a new album and every song from it floods in - or in Eurovision season  Hello again! ^_^ 1. Tove Styrke - Call My Name 87. Noah And The Whale - Waiting For My Chance To Come 88. Coldplay - Paradise 95. Little Mix - Cannonball 96. Kelly Clarkson - (What Doesn't Kill You) Stronger I really expected The A Team to be #1! It must've been very close though. Unfortunately, I think MLJ maybe one of my least favourite songs of 2011. I've like a lot of songs by both artists in the past, so hopefully this new success will mean they'll have a resurgence in their careers. Ed Sheeran really dominates your Top 100. He truly was your #1 artist overall. We Found Love is a great song, it got overplayed for me, but it's definitely a highlight of her album. It makes you wonder how much longer can Rihanna continue to put out smash hit after one another, after all these years. Funny that both Titanium & STIUTK are still going strong this year & should chart in the next Top 100. Overall, great chart, a lot of variety!
