The commentators were creaming themselves over Sunderland. Played some really good pass and move stuff up until the injuries. You just didn't have a goalscorer in the box, and Liverpool defended brilliantly. You looked to have your tactics set up really well. The defence never looked disciplined though, they were taking major gambles with 50/50 challenges, so it wasn't surprising when Mensah got sent off.

Yeah.. I kind of can't hear the commentators from where I sit. Y'know, actually at the match..

Liverpool defended competently but were never put under a great deal of pressure, which for a home team and playing against a Liverpool side (Which, let's be honest here, really aren't anything special), is very, very disappointing. It took us 85 minutes to register our single shot on target. 85 minutes, and it was a shot by Cattermole from about 30 yards out. And straight at Reina.

We basically passed it up the pitch, got to a point and then either tried to walk it through your defence or spent a few minutes passing it sideways to absolutely no effect. We did exactly the same thing against Spurs and similarly got what we deserved from the match: nothing.

It was shit. Totally dire, ineffectual shit against honestly (Barring a couple of players) one of the poorest Liverpool squads i've seen at the SoL. And when you're at home in front of a full house it's unacceptable. I've said it before and i'll say it again, it's not who you lose to it's how you lose and today we were pathetic.

I see your point. You did create nothing, but you played the ball about well. The injuries no doubt hampered you. I still think Welbeck is an absolute pile of poo. Definitely one of the most overrated players I've seen for some time. But then again, he plays for Manchester United and is English so he must be the next Messi/Ronaldo.

Don't get me wrong it IS one of the poorest Liverpool squads I've ever seen. Our squad is w***. Joe Cole is a fat bearded Michael Owen for starters. Our wide midfielders are ineffective, and the defence is inconsistent to say the least. Suarez was a class above every Liverpool player on the pitch today. Pretty sure there'll be a fair bit of investment in the summer, and a lot of the $h!t shifted out (Cole, Poulsen, Maxi, Jones, Jovanovic for starters). So its not worrying at all really. Plus none of the sides above us are really anything special at the moment. Liverpool looked ALOT more convincing today than the 2-2 draw earlier in the season (which I'm sure most Sunderland fans will have felt hard done by..).

Never using a pub quiz machine again, the question was "which manager is the oldest?" and the options were Darren Ferguson, Eddie Howe and Jim Gannon. First we went for Gannon, wrong. Then we went for Ferguson, wrong. Just checked and we got it right the first time, Gannon is 42, Ferguson 39 and Howe 33. Stupid game <_<
Craig Mackail-Smith has won League 1 Player Of The Year :w00t: What a player he has been this year, he was very good in other seasons but this year he has been absolutely brilliant. I honestly think right now he'd be an asset to any club in England apart from the top 6/7, even off the bench he could come on for the last 20 minutes and really cause teams problems. Will be interesting to see who comes in for him this summer, should be at least 10 clubs queuing up for him!

I saw the goal you mean on the highlights and wondered how on earth that went in. Needed a few replays before I could believe it.

On the subject of Sunderland, I was once again impressed by Mignolet the goalkeeper in the saves that he made.

^He made a STONKER of an error in the game yesterday though...almost gifted Meireles and Suarez a goal.

On the whole though, I was impressed.

Talking of goalkeepers, I think Arsene Wenger might put a certain person back into the thick of the action sooner than he imagined. Disaster for Manuel. :drama:

Me too

I was watching it live on Sky Sports and completely missed it. All I remember seeing is the Liverpool players doing the baby celebrations

Well that was poor. Bar a 15-20 minute spell in the 1st half Peterborough looked like they didn't really want it, especially in the 2nd half most of the players looked tired for some reason. Should think Southampton will be taking 2nd now, interesting to see how they get on tomorrow.

Was that the Suarez goal whereby our entire back line stood still and watched him walk past before firing it in? Good finish, but he wouldn't have scored that against a competent defence.

A young keeper playing his first season in English football making a mistake in an important game? Best ship him back off to Belgium then, he's useless.

It's just unfortunate that his most nervous performances have came in front of the Sky cameras, for the most part this season he's done very well and looks like he'll develop into a very solid keeper.

On the whole though, I was impressed.

I read the other day that he's not even anywhere near match fit. I expect that to be a small lie from Wenger, I mean, he might as well gone for an emergency loan otherwise there's not much point.

Michael did you see Suarez's assist against Manchester United? It was v.similar (if not harder) to the Sunderland goal. The guy looks absolutely quality. Defenders genuinely look scared when he's on the ball. Admittedly it was bad goalkeeping getting beat at the near post, but he did well just to even get the shot in at such a tight angle.

If this was true, the international break has come at an opportune time. Might get a couple of games with the reserves if not currently match fit. I know that this was what occurred with Andrew Surman of Norwich before being selected for the first team squad again after a lengthy lay off with injury.
Anyone going to be watching Peterborough v Bournemouth on Sky on Friday evening? Hopefully it'll be better than the MK Dons game :heehee:

:w00t: :yahoo: :cheer:

Not too excited at all. A win at Wembley after last year's disappointing result. Who am I trying to kid and failing?

Rooney's ban upheld by the FA. Think they are cracking down on this incident after their failure to review the incident involving McCarthy the other week against Wigan?
Not sure really. I get the impression they're trying to make an example. If it was DJ Campbell of Blackpoo for example I'm not sure whether the same punishment would have been given. BUT saying that, it's not like it's the first time Rooney has done something like this. There was no need for him to do it into the tv cameras. There's showing passion, then there's just been an idiot.
It's no coincidence all these decisions are going against us since the ex-City Chairman took charge of the FA...
