The England women have won the series against Ireland. They are 2-0 up in the series with one game to go on Sunday.

Pakistan have reacted to losing the Test series. Not quite sure why two of the players were dropped when they weren't in the playing 11. Final test in the series ftom Edgbaston on the 9th September. Interesting rule change for the Hundred in that they are allowed 4 overseas players. On the one hand, it hinders local talent (not much time in the middle), on the other it helps local talent watch the overseas players perform, and talk to them.

Tammy Beaumont has announced she will retire from international cricket after the first ever Women's Test at Lord's. Scored centuries across all three formats and has the highest amount of ODI hundreds for England (12). Also the first Englishwoman to score a double century in a Test back in 2023. She will continue to play domestically. Many thanks Tammy.

Disappointing as this result is, it is an improvement on the last T20 World Cup back in 2024. Positives are the improved fitness and the fielding. However, we do need changes. Not sure whether Knight and Wyatt Hodge will continue. There are also questions over the long term captaincy of the side. Charlie Dean has done very well this summer when she has taken over through Sciver Brunt's injury. Another issue, is the wicketkeeper position. Amy Jones (bar one good innings at the beginning of the tournament) has not batted well in the opening position. Should they be looking for a permanent replacement soon? I was surprised they didn't have a seasoned second wicketkeeper in the squad. I think all the other sides (except Australia who had their second wicketkeeper as a travelling reserve) had a second wicketkeeper in the squad. Next summer is the Ashes and hopefully we shall see further improvements in the test format. Their next fixture is a one-off Test at Lord's.

Indeed they are after a brilliant partnership between Nat Sciver Brunt and Heather Knight. Also, the fielding has improved recently.

Nat Sciver Brunt is out for the next two games. Charlie Dean will deputize once again. However, the squad for the Test against India has been announced and there is no Charlie Dean. She has a back issue and was originally not going to be part of the ODI series to manage her workload around it. The latest injury scare for Sciver Brunt casts doubt on the wisdom of this decision. They have also named a second wicketkeeper. I am surprised they didn't select one for the World Cup squad. Impressive start for England in the World Cup. Danni Wyatt Hodge hit her first century in a T20 world cup and Amy Jones hit a half century. Impressive bowling from Freya Kemp as she returns from injury.

Nat Sciver-Brunt has returned from injury lay-off and has had a mixed bag of form. Very rusty in the first warm up game and hit a half century in the second. During her absence, Charlie Dean deputised as captain and drew the ODI series 1-1. The second match was rained off. Also won both T20 series 2-1 (against New Zealand and India). After the T20 World Cup, there is a Test at Lord's against India.
