September 22, 201014 yr And slightly off-topic, a result from La Liga Barcelona 0-2 Hercules :o Barca dropped just two points in 19 games at home last season. Now they've lost three in their first home game of the season, against a newly promoted side. Herculés are the team I've managed on Football Manager 2009 to La Liga glory twice in 9 seasons with a shoestring budget and small ground. Good to see it all becoming reality as I've become attached to them sort of  And anything that wipes the smiles of Messi and co. is very welcome! P.S. Northampton
September 23, 201014 yr Pretty much all of that  Carling Cup is a joke, we did play just about a reserve team last night, Nasri did dive Our reserves done well for 90 mins So good to know the trophy you won 2 years ago was just a joke then, thus meaning you haven't won a proper trophy in 19 years  it's a doubled edged sword.
September 23, 201014 yr So good to know the trophy you won 2 years ago was just a joke then, thus meaning you haven't won a proper trophy in 19 years  it's a doubled edged sword. that was Ramos :) Harry has a different feeling to it now that we are in the CL, Carling Cup is just a distraction that might end up in more injured players, we better off out of it :)
September 23, 201014 yr i f***ing hate football at the moment. why are my teams so $h!t!??? Wonder what odds I might get on Hodgson being the next manager to be sacked :o tempting
September 23, 201014 yr Wonder what odds I might get on Hodgson being the next manager to be sacked :o tempting The only way he'll get sacked is if we get new owners. And besides who else would want to come and manage a club that has no transfer budget? Depressing times if you're a Liverpool fan. Hodgson's only a short term appointment anyway. If you want to invest any money, stick a cheeky £20 on him being the next England manager...

Wouldn't be surprised if the yanks bring in O Neill if the slump continues though, so long as you and England stay away from Harry :)
September 23, 201014 yr Author i f***ing hate football at the moment. why are my teams so $h!t!??? Not to worry Roo, Liverpool are playing Sunderland next and we could well be without Bramble and Richardson. As well as Mensah and Ferdinand. If we don't concede more than 5 i'd consider it a good result.
September 23, 201014 yr Wouldn't be surprised if the yanks bring in O Neill if the slump continues though, so long as you and England stay away from Harry :) If and when Hodgson goes I ideally want a young and upcoming manager who will be there for the long term. It's the only way we'll ever win the league again, and even then it will be 5/6 years before we are proper challengers again... Don't worry Craig, Liverpool wouldn't touch Harry  Can you imagine the uproar? Considering his afflication with The Sun!? And Mykul I wouldn't be so sure. Hodgson seems intent on us playing not to our strengths. We should go out all guns blazing try and get a couple of goals early. As long as he doesn't play Poulsen and Lucas together in midfield i'll be pleased.
September 24, 201014 yr I think Hodgson is a decent manager and it'll take time for him to work at Liverpool. I've always rated Poulsen but he's not looked particularly good yet, I think he will though eventually. Maybe not Mascherano levels but then I don't think anyone would ever put them quite in the same league. Konchesky seems to have had a fair bit of criticism so far but I don't really see what he's done wrong. When Hodgson inherited the side he had three left backs, one wantaway who never adapted to English football (Dossena), one who's spent the majority of the last couple of seasons injured (Aurelio) and one who's still young and played too many games too soon at hight pressure and has gone backwards not fulfilling his potential (Insua). He needed a left back and had pretty much f*** all to spend on one, I don't see who he's going to get that's any real improvement on Konchesky....
September 24, 201014 yr As for Redknapp I think he's an absolute quality manager but as for England, I'd rather they employed Schteve again. Can you imagine what the likes of the NOTW and the Mail would constantly spout if Redknapp was England manager? We need to give them as little ammunition as possible, not someone who's always been known as a wheeler-dealer, a bit dodgy and been arrested regarding bungs.

That's not all Rafa's fault, but we are really weak in certain areas. Poulsen's not looked good for a few years imo, well, not since he went to Juve at least. I don't think Konchesky is that bad either, and with the miney he has available (basically none) and the options he had, he spent it wisely. My only problem is all the players we are buying will all need replaced in 2-3 years time. Poulsen, Carra, Gerrard, Jovanovic, Aurellio, Maxi, Konchesky, J.Cole... none of them are spring chickens anymore. Just need new owners so the club can start building for the future again.
September 24, 201014 yr It also didn't help that he had a squad with three home grown players in it, no wonder he has to sign the likes of Brad Jones (ha!) and Konchesky, otherwise you have a squad of 20 players over 21 at a maximum. You've got some decent youngsters to be fair, I like Insua, I rated him but I think he played to much last year, Shelvey was very impressive in the Championship 18 months ago when he was 16 but I've not seen much of him since, Wilson is quality and Pacheco, Ecclestone etc look good. You won the youth league/cup (one of the two) last year, Rafa did shake up the academy side of things for the better.
September 24, 201014 yr The academy is brilliant. Kelly and Pacheo are on the fringes of the first team now, although for Pacheo to thrive we need to KEEP the ball, which is what we do not do now. Ayala is on loan at Hull and he's their best player from what I hear. Then there's Ngoo, Eccelston, Amoo, Sterling, Ince, Wisdom, Coady, Palsson, Robinson and Suso all coming through. If at least 3 of those don't make it then something is wrong, very wrong.
September 24, 201014 yr Ayala was amazing for Hull against us last weekend, we'd have won if he wasn't in their team.
September 25, 201014 yr Roy Hodgson is an absolute bellend. Why the f*** is he playing players out of position unneedlessly? Sunderland are going to win this, and good on them tbh.
September 25, 201014 yr Again we lose to a bunny team Ridiculous, shows how clueless that Harry is when it comes to tactics, really is time for him to go
September 25, 201014 yr ARGH AGGER YOU SPAZ Actually pleased with a point. We looked better as we changed to 4-4-2. Draw was a fair result on the balance of play. Can't understand for the life of me why Hodgson played Kuyt in the 'hole' and Meriles as a right attacking midfielder. Not needed.

September 25, 201014 yr LOL I am sure the other night you were proclaiming him as the Messiah... Every time we play a small team we get the same old result, once or twice is unfortunate but it happens all the time when it comes to Harry, Harry is great if we are playing a top 6 team, stick him in against a crap team then that crap team suddenly becomes Brazil
