Can't believe it took me so long to start this, but I might as well get it out the way.

I'll probably start this at some point today then, counting down my Top 100 Favourite Singles of the Year (and also my 10 least favourite), and I might throw in some Albums too. So, enjoy!

Oh god, how late am I?

Ah well, let's kickstart this countdown with...

...MY LEAST FAVOURITE SONGS OF 2011

Let's get started!

10. T-Pain (ft. Wiz Khalifa & Lily Allen) - 5 O'Clock

Starts out with a sample from Lily Allen's rather good "Who'd Have Known", before T-Pain's autotune hacks in and completely kills it for me, along with Wiz's awful rap verse. Thanks god this never hit #1.

9. One Direction - Gotta Be You

Sure enough, after their up-beat summer smash comes an EMOTIONAL HEART-WARMING BALLAD. AWWWW, HOW SWEET AND ROMANTIC.

Seeing GBY's chart run compared to the first single speaks massive volumes. Usually you'd think, with a fanbase like theirs, that they could just release absolutely anything and it'll get them a #1 hit. Somehow that didn't happen, with this rather uninteresting song. Next.

8. Nicki Minaj - Super Bass

I'M SO SORRY. I just had to put it in here. My sister first played this song back in February, and I never really got why she liked it so much. Maybe it just wasn't my thing. But I can't even begin to count the amount of times I heard Super Bass over the last year, it just got unbearable. Maybe I'll begin to tolerate it soon enough, but for now....

7. Jay-Z & Kanye West (ft. Otis Redding) - Otis

This one might be slightly unfair, but the irritating Otis Redding sample that runs through the whole song usually had me turning down the radio when this came on. And we've also got Jay-Z and Kanye bragging about their wealth. How Fascinating.

6. Enrique Iglesias (ft. Ludacris & DJ Frank E) - Tonight (I'm F**kin' You)

Oh boy, where to start. It really is just an empty club banger, but what makes it bad enough to go on the list? The chorus on the cringey un-censored version, of course. That's right girl. Enrique will f*** you. Tonight. You have no say...

...you get the point. And the lyrics are pretty bad too, but I'm sure you know that already

5. Beyoncé - Run the World (Girls)

What a load of noise. Maybe there's something I'm not getting, but all I can hear is her shouting over a Major Lazer track. Also, her whole female-empowerment thing is getting slightly annoying and tiresome if you ask me.

4. David Guetta (ft. Taio Cruz & Ludacris) - Little Bad Girl

While I'm not really a fan of Guetta's most recent work (with a few exceptions). Most of the singles were catchy enough to be tolerable, at least. This one never really caught on with me. No originality and awful lyrics (put my hands up in the "uhr"??). The only thing that stopped it from going higher was Luda's hilariously over-the-top rap verse.

3. Justin Bieber - Mistletoe

Ugh, one of the worst things about 2010 decides to come back and spite my festive spirit with this extremely dull rip-off of "I'm Yours" with a few jingle bells tossed in. The only sigh of relief is that his pre-pubescent wailing voice is gone. He's still throwing around the word 'shawty' though, so not much else has changed.

2. Jeremih (ft. 50 Cent) - Down On Me

Generic trash with no conceivable appeal. Not sure why anyone would spend 99p to listen to this crap, but each to their own, I guess.

And so here it is...

1. JLS (ft. Dev) - She Makes Me Wanna

Just hearing the opening makes me dread the upcoming punishment from the hands of JLS' latest summer hit. The whole thing feels cheap and stale, with all the clichéd lyrics you'd expect ('LA to Jamaica, London to Africa'...or was it the other way round?). I kinda forgot this after a while, but at first this almost seemed like a carbon copy of Eyes Wide Shut (along with about a billion other songs). Also, "she makes me wanna oh oh oh oh oh oh"? Lack of effort in the songwriting department? Or rather they're aware of the fact they're fans will buy the sinlge regardless of what it sounds like. But who knows, maybe people will get fed up of them once they're next album undoubtedly hits shelves this November? Can't quite see it happening, but it certainly would be nice.

THE TOP 100 SINGLES OF 2011

Finally, here we are!

100. Breakage (feat. Jess Mills) - Fighting Fire

99. Dev (feat. The Cataracs) - Bass Down Low

98. Martin Solveig (feat. Kele) - Ready 2 Go

97. Eric Prydz - Niton (The Reason)

96. Chase & Status (feat. Sub Focus & Takura) - Flashing Lights

So the countdown starts with Breakage's Top 40 hit, featuring vocals from Jess Mills in 'Fighting Fire' which quietly sneaks in the Top 100. I share the same thoughts with Bass Down Low as I did with Like a G6; awful song, but catchy enough to find myself enjoying it. Martin Solveig's 'Ready 2 Go', the underrated follow up to Hello is next, with Eric Prydz' 'Niton (The Reason)' landing at No.97: a song that didn't seem to catch on with many people, as it ended up missing the Top 40 in the UK Charts :(. Chase & Status make their first appearance on the list with 'Flashing Lights' (that dubstep breakdown is easily my favourite part!)

95. Jessie J - Domino

94. Rizzle Kicks - Down With The Trumpets

93. Wretch 32 (ft. Josh Kumra) - Don't Go

92. OneRepublic - Good Life

91. Milk & Sugar vs. Vaya Con Dios - Hey (Nah Neh Nah)

Jessie J's 'Domino', a future No.1 hit, enters at #95, with Rizzle Kicks' 'Down With The Trumpets' at #94. I wasn't quite sure about DWTT at first but slowly began to like it throughout the year. Wretch 32's first song in the Top 100 is his No.1 hit 'Don't Go'. OneRepublic's Top 10 US hit 'Good Life' is next, THIS SONG SHOULD'VE BEEN A HIT OVER HERE....and we could also say the same for Milk & Sugar's infectious European smash 'Hey (Nah Neh Nah)', a remix of a song by Belgian band Vaya Con Dios, at #91.

Agreed on about half of those 10 hated songs, 5 O Clock is OK but annoying, I thought I was the only one who didn't get Otis at all, Gotta Be You is utter trash, and your top 5 is full of weak/generic songs. I like Tonight and Super Bass though .

Good start on the good songs also, Bass Down Low, Fighting Fire and Down With The Trumpets are all very good, the best should be yet to come though!

90. Lupe Fiasco - The Show Goes On

89. P!nk - F**kin' Perfect

88. Noah & The Whale - L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.

87. White Lies - Bigger Than Us

86. SBTRKT- Wildfire

Another big hit from accross the pond, Lupe Fiasco's 'The Show Goes On' makes it to #90. P!nk's 'F**kin' Perfect' (another 'inspirational' song, of sorts) is #89. Noah & The Whale's successful comeback single 'L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.', and the lead single from White Lies' second album; 'Bigger Than Us' both make an appearance. 'Wildfire' by SBTRKT enters at #86, originally a song I found as a free iTunes download, the bizarre production work surrounding the vocals from Little Dragon immediately captured my attention (as well as a rather obscure music video).

Nice to see you agree with some of them, just realized the JLS song is up for Best Single at the BRITs... :puke:

THE BEST CERTAINLY IS YET TO COME...in my opinion, anyway

85. Skrillex - Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites

84. Jai Paul - BTSTU

83. Take That - Love Love

82. Metronomy - The Look

81. Lady Gaga - The Edge of Glory

From what I've seen, I can't quite say that many people on Buzzjack really approve of 'Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites'. WELL COLOUR ME SURPRISED :P I wasn't really expecting anyone round here to catch on with this mind-blowing dubstep effort from Skrillex, who was recently placed 4th on BBC's Sound of 2012, despite already being quite well-known. This song became relatively popular this year, without ever hitting Top 100 on the UK Singles chart! Ahead of it at #84 lies a Sound of 2011 nominee Jai Paul, with 'BTSTU'. Really weird, but has one of the best opening lines of the year! Take That's 'Love Love', a song recorded for X-Men: First Class, slips nicely into the boyband's (or man-band, if you like) recent electro-pop sound, similar to 'Kidz' (which will make an appearance much later). Metronomy's 'The Look', taken from the Mercury Prize-nominated album The English Riviera is #82, while Lady Gaga's most impressive single from her much-hyped Born This Way album; 'The Edge of Glory' is at #81.

80. Enter Shikari - Quelle Surprise

79. Robyn - Call Your Girlfriend

78. Alex Clare - Too Close

77. Skream & Example - Shot Yourself In the Foot Again

76. Friends - I'm His Girl

Next on the countdown is Enter Shikari's 'Quelle Surprise', following up from the brilliant 'Destabilise' in 2010, and is set to be included as a bonus track for their third studio album. Robyn is at #79 with 'Call Your Girlfriend', which managed to peak in the Top 75 last summer. Soul singer Alex Clare is next, with help from Diplo and Switch on production in 'Too Close'. At #77 is 'Shot Yourself In the Foot Again', an iTunes bonus track on Example's 'Playing In The Shadows' LP (with a HEAVY dubstep-ish drop). 'I'm His Girl' by Friends is #76 (trust me to not have anything useful to say :P).
