January 16, 201213 yr Author MTV on the Golden Globes From MTV.com: Madonna has a huge year ahead of her, and she's already getting some shine. At the Golden Globes on Sunday night (January 15), the pop star-turned-film director nabbed the Best Original Song prize for "Masterpiece," which was featured in "W.E.," which she wrote and directed. Taking the stage in her glittering Reem Acra-designed dress, Madge thanked the many collaborators who helped her write the song featured in her first feature film, which opens in wide release next month. "This is a surprise," she told the room, clutching her prize. "Thank you so much to the Hollywood Foreign Press for this acknowledgement. I need to thank my co-writers, Jimmy Harry and Julie Frost, my co-producer William Orbit, who's not here, whom I adore." As her speech went on, she opened up a bit about the creation of the award-winning track, ignoring her exit music altogether. "I would also like to thank my manager, Guy Oseary, who I spend most of my time beating up on," she said. "But seriously, he harangued me for the entire time I was filming and editing my movie to write a song. And I said, 'Please, Guy, I'm trying to focus on being a director and I want people to pay attention to the film and I don't have time.' So then I finished the film and I started making my record and somehow magically and miraculously the song emerged, 'Masterpiece,' so thank you, Guy Oseary, for being so irritating." As her speech wrapped up, she thanked her leading lady in the film, Andrea Riseborough, and producer Harvey Weinstein, whom she called the Punisher. This is hardly Madonna's first Golden Globe. She previously won Best Actress in Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy for playing Eva Peron in "Evita." "Masterpiece" is expected to appear on Madonna's forthcoming new record, M.D.N.A.
January 16, 201213 yr Author Elton John In Globes War Of Words Madonna and Sir Elton John became embroiled in a war of words at the Golden Globes on Sunday as they competed for the coveted Best Song prize. The Rocket Man started the verbal spat by telling reporters on the red carpet that his rival 'doesn't have a f**king chance of winning tonight,' and when asked if those were 'fighting words,' he replied, 'No, those are accurate words'. Madonna hit back when questioned about Sir Elton's remarks, asking reporters, 'Was he wearing a dress?' adding, 'May the best man win.' The Material Girl eventually emerged triumphant as her track Masterpiece from W.E. scooped the award for Best Original Song - Motion Picture, seeing off competition from Sir Elton's Hello, Hello from Gnomeo & Juliet. And after her success, Madonna offered an olive branch to her rival, telling reporters, 'I hope he speaks to me for the next couple of years. He's known to get mad at me. He's brilliant and I adore him, so he will win another award. And I don't feel bad!' From contactmusic.com

January 19, 201213 yr Author Madonna co-writer reacts to Golden Globes win Julie Frost may not be a household name, but she's one of the songwriters behind Madonna's Golden Globe best original song win. Frost, a singer-songwriter who resides in Southern California, stood beside the Queen of Pop as she accepted the award for "Masterpiece." The award-winning song plays during the ends credits of Madonna's directional debut, "W.E.," and will also appear on the pop star's upcoming studio album. "Being acknowledged by the Hollywood Foreign Press amongst a room full of so many people I admire and accepting the award next to Madonna, was such an honor," Frost, who has co-written songs for Beyonce, the Black Eyed Peas and Pitbull, told CBSNews.com. Frost added, "As Adam Levine and Jimmy Fallon announced the award for best original song, I thought, no matter what happens I'm proud of our song and to be included in the same category as so many of my musical heroes." "Masterpiece," which was written by Madonna, Frost and songwriter-producer Jimmy Harry, beat out the four other nominees, including Elton John's "Hello Hello" from "Gnomeo & Juliet" and Mary J. Blige's "The Living Proof" from "The Help." It was Frost's first Golden Globes Awards, and from the sound of it, she had a great time. "After getting dressed and pampered by stylists and hair and make-up artists, I walked to the limo that was waiting for me, dressed in my gorgeous dress and stunning jewelry and accessories," Frost said. "The magnitude of the evening set in as I waved back at my good friends who were there to see me off." From cbsnews.com.
January 20, 201213 yr Author For the record "Wow! What a tempest in a teapot. My comments regarding The Golden Globes have been blown way out of proportion. My passion for our film "Gnomeo & Juliet" and belief in Elton's song really got my emotional juices going. But I must say for the record that I do believe Madonna is a great artist, and that Elton and I wish her all the best for next week's premiere of the film "W.E.". David Furnish, on Facebook
