My version of High for This is slower and deeper than any of the youtube versions - does anyone else have a similar version?

30 - Kasabian 'Days Are Forgotten' - 236 points (8 voters)

Nominated by: Alin

Top 10 positions: Eyes (5th), Alin (7th), NickF1 (8th), Charlie (10th)

Their first proper single from their 4th album 'Velociraptor!'. Despite being fairly successful in the initial wave of British indie that emerged in the middle of the previous decade, they never quite reached the mainstream heights that the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Razorlight or Kaiser Chiefs did. It worked out for the best for Kasabian though as they continued to grow with their next two albums, their new one wasn't quite as well received but they're still in a decent position.

29 - Bombay Bicycle Club 'Shuffle' - 239 points (9 voters)

Nominated by: RabbitFurCoat

Top 10 positions: Doctor Blind (1st), RabbitFurCoat (3rd), Thomsen, RandomFurlong (8th)

Another act who've moved incredibly quickly in a short space of time, taking the best part of four years touring and perfecting their debut album before releasing it, and then riding on the wave that had been created releasing two more albums in a little over two years. This was the lead single to the album released at the end of June, and spent three weeks in the UK top 75. It's a song perfect for the summer months.

Nominated by: Harve

Top 10 positions: Harve (5th), JakeWild (7th), ▲▲▲ (8th), Cremey (9th)

Introduced to some of us in the Unknown Pleasures competition last March with the superb 'I'm In Your Church At Night', his album 'You Are All I See' was highly anticipated by a few people and it didn't disappoint, this collaboration with How To Dress Well being the highlight of it.

PJ Harvey released her much acclaimed 8th album this year, with praise from the public and critics alike proving she can still release excellent music almost 20 years after the release of her first album. This album track was one of two songs of hers nominated.

26 - Cut Copy 'Need You Now' - 261 points (12 voters)

Nominated by: ▲▲▲

Top 10 positions: Jonny (8th)

Australians Cut Copy have been a favourite of some posters on here for quite some time now, and their 3rd album 'Zonoscope' went down quite well. 'Need You Now' was the second single from it, released around the same time as the album, at the beginning of the year.

Good grief, unless the Pains of Being Pure at Heart show up soon I don't think I've nominated a single record in the top 40. Mind you, nobody really took me up on four of my choices (like last year!).

Perfect start to the Top 40. Great to see "Shuffle" make the Top 30. :D

I also love "Buy Nothing Day", "Whirring", "Hawaiian Air" , "No Love", "How Deep Is Your Love?", "We Bros", and "Need You Now". Didn't get Polish Girl at all sadly. :(

High Priestess was the highlight for me. Full of Kate Bush wondrous.

25 The Weeknd 'The Morning' - 283 points (10 voters)

Nominated by: Horatio

Top 10 positions: Andrew*, Horatio (1st), Jonny (2nd), Pavel (7th), Medicated Soap (9th)

Also taken from his debut mixtape 'House of Balloons', this looked like it was going to underperform quite significantly until the final 5 voters gave it almost as many points as the first 28 did!

Nominated by: Dandy*

Top 10 positions: ▲▲▲ (2nd), Dandy*, Harve (4th), Skob (5th), Medicated Soap (10th)

Released as the promotional single for their 5th album 'Eye Contact', 'MindKilla' is Gang Gang Dance at their most wonderful and alluring, winning them new fans and keeping their old ones.

23 - Lykke Li 'Sadness is a Blessing' - 292 points (11 voters)

Nominated by: SKOB

Top 10 positions: Severin (2nd), NickF1 (4th), Gooddelta, AaronTM (5th)

Lykke's second album 'Wounded Rhymes' was one which many on here loved last year, with third single 'Sadness is a Blessing' one of the most popular tracks, it's a completely different, far more mellow, sound to the first two singles.

22 - Karl X Johan 'Flames' - 293 points (14 voters)

Nominated by: ▲▲▲

Top 10 positions: Doctor Blind (7th), Alin, Pavel (10th)

Introduced to most of us in the 6th Unknown Pleasures, which it went on to win, 'Flames' has remained popular in the indie forum, finishing strongly in Tony's Unknown Pleasures best of the year, and another good finish here, not quite making 300 points and the top 20, but becoming the fist song to have been voted for by as many as 14 people.

21 - Bon Iver 'Calgary' - 303 points (12 voters)

Nominated by: Thomsen

Top 10 positions: SKOB (3rd), Pavel (6th), Thomsen (8th), West (9th), Cremey, Doctor Blind (10th)

So the first entry for any of the acts widely thought to do really well in here, comes 'Calgary', the first single from Bon Iver's self titled 2011 album. With just 6 points from the first 13 voters it looked like 'Calgary' would massively underperform, but it picked up significantly and ended up missing the top 20 by one place and 4 points. It's perhaps surprising it's so low though, but there was always going to be at least one Bon Iver track end up much higher.....

22 Karl X Johan 'Flames' - 293

First half is looking like it might be better than the second! In fact, 40-31 is a group of songs that's going to be pretty hard to match.

20 - Bjork 'Crystalline' - 307 points (12 voters)

Nominated by: AaronTM

Top 10 positions: AaronTM (2nd), JakeWild, Orpheus (5th)

Bjork released her 7th album in 2011, four years after her previous one 'Volta'. Most of her fans seemed to enjoy the new one as much as they'd hoped and the single 'Crystalline' has a good showing here, finishing in the top 20.

19 - Noel Gallgher's High Flying Birds 'AKA... What A Life' - 316 points (13 votes)

Nominated by: Gooddelta

Top 10 positions: CW (3rd), West (5th), Eyes (8th)

After Oasis split it was always likely that when Noel & Liam both released new material that Noel's would be the better, being the stronger creative force in the band, so it was no surprise that that's what the consensus was, with 'AKA... What A Life' getting both acclaim and chart success, being the best Oasis related song in some time.

Searching for who nominated that, I've realised that I completely missed Charlie's nominations out! :drama:

My apologies for that and to anyone that was put off nominating them as a result, however no one noticed!
