Incredible and obsessed. M.I.A is amazing. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't something that good!
oh gosh that is incredible. i love the bit when they're cruising all casual on the sides of the cars, and she files her nails. TOP MARKZ <~3

Pretty amazing how one good song/video has made me listen to 'Kala' again and love it. '/\/\ /\ Y /\' definitely left a bad taste in my mouth and tainted her back catalogue slightly. I'm willing to forgive if the quality keeps up with 'Bad Girls'.

Ryan, you more than anyone here is aware of the love I once held for this woman. 'Arular' and 'Kala' are works of genius, perfect packages. But similarly 'Maya' to me was unfocused and clangy. I fucking love the 'Bad Girls' package. It's reminded me of why I adore her so much in the first place, such an idiosyncratic and fascinating artist. This isn't retreading old ground. It's merely an evolution of her as an artist. Fantastic.

I'd also like to add that Romain Gavras is an utterly superb video director.

You may have heard that Madonna put on a staggeringly high-budget performance during the Super Bowl's halftime show last night that was basically a combination of Watch the Throne and My Big Fat Greek Wedding. But despite the spectacle's inclusion of LMFAO, its most obnoxious moment came via M.I.A., who delighted audiences with this outstanding achievement:
Instead, in the few bars Madonna was kind enough to grant her during the biggest television event of the year, M.I.A.'s message to America was simply, "f*** you." Well, in M.I.A.'s own words, the little people will never win, but they can f*** shit up. Success might be the best revenge, but apparently, being an asshole is forever.

pitchfork's being a bit moody today...

The M.I.A. middle finger is apparently a big deal in America now?

Some comments on YT are absolutely delightful

OMG IM SO ANGRY ABOUT THIS MY KIDS ALMOST SAW THIS MIDDLE FINGER EVEN IF THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT MEANS IM FILING A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THE POSSIBLE TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE MY KIDS COULD OF HAD GOD WOULD NOT APPROVE OF THIS SHE-DEVIL IM GOING TO SUE FOX FOR A BILLION DOLLARS MY CHILDREN AND I HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR 4 HOURS PRAYING THAT GOD WOULD ERASE THIS IMAGE FROM MY HEAD
Same person:

THIS IS NO JOKE AFTER I SEEN THIS I IMMEDIATELY BEGAN THROWING UP MY KIDS ARE SCREAMING "WHATS WRONG DADDY?" "ARE YOU DYING?" I ALREADY TOOK THE DAY OFF OF WORK I WILL PROBABLY GET FIRED AND IM CALLING MY KIDS IN SO THEY DONT HAVE TO GO TO SCHOOL THEY NEED GOD TO ANSWER THEIR PRAYERS TODAY!!

 Ha.
People making big deals out of nothing is so TIRESOME. It suited the bloody rap and it all worked out for everyone. Hurrah.

America is so tiresome with things like this. I don't even want to get into this.

LOL at the fail attempt to blur the screen though.

Well she's managed to piss off middle America AND Pitchfork. Excellent!

Sanctimonious bunch of pricks.

Having an MIA fest off the back of this and I swear /\/\ /\ Y /\ wasn't this bad last time I listened.. (admittedly about a year ago). Sad.

ESPECIALLY Pitchfork. :D

Anyway it doesn't look like the middle finger to me, looks more like the ring finger. I watched it live and didn't notice a thing - people getting offended over this is almost as hilarious as the quite obviously staged 'boob incident' with Janet Jackson in 2004. Get a life.

"Bad Girls" is amazing anyway, that's all that matters.
